An IRS Tax Return Transcript should be smaller than the tax return & supporting documentation.

There's a typo in my post I just noticed. Should say 3x to sponsor spouse not 30k. Not sure why I wrote that so wrong! Just wanted to clarify for others reading.

A joint sponsor can be anyone willing as long as they are a citizen/national or LPR and have US income/assets and domicile in the US or territories. So it's fine if they live in another state.

If your joint sponsor is married it's recommended to have their spouse fill out the 864a as their household member even if they are using their income only as sometimes Officers want to see the spouse is aware of the commitment being undertaken. So it's recommended to send the 864a rather than wait to see if they RFE for it causing additional delay.

Where do you see that the DS5540 is needed for the NVC? I'm pretty sure it's not one of the documents required, which is also not listed on the official travel state gov website here. I remember asking my lawyer about it and she said it is only needed during the embassy interview. Please ensure your information is accurate as to not induce panic to people who have not uploaded a DS5540 to their CEAC for the NVC stage.

Yes, I know they are two different stages. Once the I-130 is approved, it gets forwarded to NVC where we have to file DS-260 and provide other required supporting documentation. The reason why I mentioned I-130 is due to the fact that NVC probably receives other approved petitions such as I-129 etc., and I don’t know if the process is the same for all once they get to the NVC stage, so I wanted to be more specific. I am asking if there is a thread about NVC stage of the process (once the I-130 is approved) that related to general information/issues just like we have this one for I-130 online filers.

No, you do not.  The paper instructions do no fit online filing word for word, unfortunately.

Labeling hard copy photos on the back is for old fashioned handling, as small photos tend to fall out of folders, etc.  Imagine having a stack of folders on your desk and one photo on the floor.  With online, no worries about this.

From the moment I filed online, mine shows Nebraska even after I received a paper copy showing Potomac, so that tells me that online version doesn’t get updated  (at least not until someone touches your file). When I contacted USCIS on unrelated issue, I was told that the address listed on your first NOA is your actual services center location, so my answer is based on that information.

    Hey Everyone,

I sent my I-130 application in on 12/15/2020.  It was received by the Texas Locked Box on 12/18/2020.
It was assigned to the Nebraska for processing and was receipted on 01/04/2021.
    NOA1 was received on 01/09/2021.
03/03/2021 the status was updated to "Actively Processing".
03/04/2021 my I-130 application was approved (as shown through USCIS Status Check).
03/07/2021 case was transferred to NVC for processing.
03/09/2021 NOA2 was received stating that my I-130 application was approved.

Exciting times...  Wishing everyone the best in getting through the immigration process.

That’s a great news for all that ended up getting Nebraska. I also applied online and was assigned to Nebraska, but when I received a NOA a week later it said Potomac 😣

Do you guys think we should start a petition or something to have cases transferred from Potomac? It's little unfair that people who ended up in Potomac and waiting for 10+ months, while those who ended up in Texas or Nebraska are getting approved within 4-5 months!

    2020 Potomac Filers:

If you are waiting for approval still, can you please reach out to your Senators/Congressmen, and ask them to inquire about the huge disparity in I-130 processing times between service centers?  If USCIS hears a lot of complaints from Senators' offices regarding the unfair processing time at Potomac, maybe this will nudge them to make processing times more fair.

Please don't persecute me.  I'm trying to help.

I say let us start a petition then everyone of us can contact our senators and congressmen referring to the petition, and asking to reach out to USCIS. The disparity is becoming ridiculous. At least we can try to do something rather than just sitting here. It is so frustrating.

You should fill out your timeline.  The more data gathered, the better the VJ estimates will be.

If you are lucky, it might be a lot less.  My I-130s for my wife and stepdaughter took 12-13 weeks at Nebraska.

To my knowledge digital photo images in jpg format cannot have a second page attachment with handwriting unless we are using some other type of format that allows this. I just uploaded the original jpg file named first name_last name without attaching a handwritten part since I am not scanning the image but providing the original jpg file.

I made the same mistake and that is why I advise to get the online application started, so you don't do things that are not required.  I thought the online application was very well done, once you get used to it.  You don't have to worry about completing each section in order.  You can toggle the section tabs.  If you have not completed a section, it will warn you, but you can still move out of that section and your partial info is saved.

I can't see the upload screen anymore since I already submitted the form, but I would pay attention to the instructions there. I might have written my name by hand because of the paper form instructions, I can't remember.

The only problem is, it's only in 15 said so I'm worried he won't be able to get the medical done in time.

You have to actually start the application before you can upload anything, and it would not make sense anyway.  You will understand once you get in.  Create your account at USCIS and get started.  No obligation or pressure to do anything.  The I-130 has many sections, and you can jump around and review them.  If you have not completed a section it will warn you but you can still leave that section.  There are various places where you upload, if needed.
