I just received an approval - what timing!  I just submitted a Congressional Inquiry on 11/10 so not sure if this had anything to do with it but really happy it came through.

So apparently we made the 11/23 shipping date!  I checked CEAC this morning.  It shows "in transit", even got an email just like Keith did.  It was addressed to my fiancee, but sent to me and my IL.  So it looks like a 12/13 interview date may still be possible.  My fiancee changed it to 12/22, but says there are still slots available for 12/13.  She's applied for her Schengen visa to cover both dates.  I'll be checking DHL later this week to see when it arrives in Warsaw.

For those of you wondering about your status, I encourage you to call, either NVC, or your embassy.  Don't endure the unnecessary stress of "not knowing".

I started calling 2 weeks after the NOA-2 but in reality they assigned my case # after 3 weeks.  I would start calling 3 weeks after you receive your NOA-2.  Maybe call once or twice a week (I was calling on a Wednesday and Friday or trying to do this) until they provide you the case #.
I never even thought about updating the email.  Nice!  I always did it through the form and it took usually a month.

Hey Keith, Congrats man on all the progress. I received my NOA2 on 10/28/21 and its been almost 4 weeks now, I haven't even called NVC yet because i've been beyond busy with work. I have some time now because of the holiday this week and was wondering just simply what do i ask them exactly? Also my attorney said we can technically fill out the ds-160 immediately and get that going. My fiancee is in Ecuador, not sure what the current wait times there are but hopefully we can get an interview by february fingers crossed. Do you think i should also fill out the online request thing for an update on NVC? Any information to guide me along in my current point in the process is appreciated, thanks.

I normally try not to log on here unless I see something I can answer in this thread in the mornings, but I had to log and write this.  I received the NVC email that stated the petition was requested by Kiev Embassy.  The email is addressed to Anna but still, it is exciting!  I will say something to anyone still waiting (or maybe something good to put in any latter posts) I would definitely put in the email request with NVC to update both the petitioner and the beneficiary's emails.  It might not work for the beneficiary (as it did not for her as far as I know yet) but I received correspondences every since I did that.  I put in the request the following week after I returned from Ukraine (which was the week after my NOA-2 was approved).  It was not touched until a couple weeks ago so it took basically a month but I have been receiving emails since then.  This might help for those who are waiting for their case to move from NVC to the embassy.  Again, it takes about a month for them to fulfill.  And the instructions are in the link inside of the first post on the 3rd page i think of the PDF.  So I will update my timeline when the petition departs NVC and arrives to Ukraine.  I say Ukraine because I realize I spell it differently than NVC and the english spelling is so for me it is easier to say the country on here.
Stay positive everyone!  Especially if you have your case # and are waiting (which here in October NVC group I hope you do) because if you have your specific embassy case, you are over that hurdle and your petition is in line for the embassy to request it.  If you do not have your case # yet, call NVC (i called i think the nonimmigrant line but it does not matter) and ask to see if NVC received it yet.  Again, this is kind of the same process of when you call USCIS except not as long hold times.  Call either sometime between 8:00am and 10:00am Eastern Standard or anytime between 18:00 (6pm) and 21:00 (9pm) Eastern Standard for evening hours.  The one day I was off work, I called at 7am central standard and when i would call in evenings, it was between 17:00 (5pm) and 19:00(7pm) Central Standard and my wait time at most was 10 minutes (morning and evening).  If you run into any roadblocks, note exactly what the script says (i think there is that one guy who recorded the entire script.  Once his script is completed, it might say something about pressing a number to continue (might be 1) but then there are a couple other scripts about agents being busy or something.  Just stay on the line and you will be connected with someone.  Again, give them 15-20 minutes at least if not longer to pick up but you should get someone sooner than you would get with USCIS.  Best wishes everyone!

Congratulations on this where the status now shows at NVC.

I keep this in mind because this is how the NVC works.  NVC holds on to your petition until it is requested by the embassy, this is correct.  One thing you have to keep in mind is when an embassy requests a petition, the NVC only sends by post (mail) every other week.  This week (Tuesday 23 November and Wednesday 24 November) are the shipping days for any petition that was requested by the respective embassy.
My case number was created on 9 November, which the shipping dates were Tuesday 9 November and Wednesday 10 November but my embassy did not request my petition in time to ship out on Wednesday 10 November.
For you, if your embassy does not request yours Tuesday or Wednesday, expect it to probably ship on Tuesday 7 December or Wednesday 8 December.  This is assuming your embassy is accepting petitions at this time and they are not backlogged (which is what i assumed by what you said above).  Just stay positive because you do have your case number so that means you are only waiting for the embassy to "pick your number" and give it to the NVC to arrange to be shipped the next time NVC ships.
What I posted previously was, check your status either Thursday 25 November or Friday 26 November.  I would check in the evening to be sure you've given the NVC time to update their system.  Thursday will probably reflect any shipments on Tuesday and Friday will reflect Wednesday.  If you see a status change to in transit, then you know your petition should arrive to your respective embassy next week.  You can also post in here if you get an in transit and i can work the DHL hack to give you a better ETA.
I am hopeful that our petition will ship either Tuesday or Wednesday because there were two tracking numbers on 1 waybill on Wednesday 10 November with a destination to Ukraine.  This way I have something else to celebrate and announce to Anna this week .  Stay positive!

Yeah trust me.  Anna and I are hoping the same.  She asked me if I knew any timeline and I said no.  We have to wait until we see our case show in transit.  Yeah with yours receiving the case assignment on the 9th, that was the same day as mine so I would check your case status on the ceac website on Thursday/Friday (25th NOV, 26th NOV) and see if it shows in transit.  If nothing by Friday night, then I would assume your case was not requested yet.  NVC ships to the embassy/consulate every 2 weeks.  So the next shipment after the 23rd/24th of November is 7th/8th of December.  You can continue to check your case status after next weekend (the week of the 29th) but I would only check it maybe once or twice.  Usually if you dont see in transit within a couple days after the last day of shipping for the week, then it is waiting in line for the next shipping week.  This is why I recommend Thursday/Friday because Thursday is 2 days after the Tuesday shipment and Friday is 2 days after the Wednesday shipment.  That almost guarantees a status update if it ships.
And to answer your second question, no there is no way to tell what cases the embassy/consulate is requesting.  That would be an awesome setup if so because then I could assure Anna of where we were in line for our embassy to receive. (I use our and we because we are a team )  Stay positive because you have a case # and the embassy/consulate will request your case .  Everything is possible and everything will work out for the better in the end.

Yeah to answer your first question, consistently it looks like anywhere from a few weeks to 1 month.  I would examine your Tokyo case # and decode it.  The first 3 letters are the name of the city the embassy is in, the next 4 numbers are the year the NVC created the case, the 3 numbers following are the julian month/day the case was created - 500 and the final 3 numbers are what actual number it was assigned that day, EX mine was in KEV2021813XXX.  I blocked out the last 3 because those are ones you cannot figure out from my timeline.  My case was created in year 2021, day 813-500 = 313 julian month/day (I googled the 2021 julian calendar and found out the exact day) and then the 3 X's are my assembly line number.  So my case was created on 09 NOV 2021.  That might shed more light on when it is sent if it is already past the 1 month of waiting.
    Here is the julian calendar:

Did you just receive it?  it might take a day to update (overnight cycle as I tell my peers at work).  A huge congratulations and just make sure you are using that # to search and not your WAC accidentally.  But yeah it is probably taking a bit.  Kind of like tracking from FEDEX/UPS where you receive the tracking number at 2pm but it isnt a valid tracking number until 8pm in the system or 6am the next morning.  Everything is still processing, you just cannot see the update at this moment

You are correct in the embassy requests it.  The same goes for mine.  But i check the history and see.  If it looks like people around me or within a month of receiving their NVC case # are shipping, then that means the embassy is roughly a month behind grabbing cases.  If @alexmamone's setup was less than 1 month for the embassy to request and receive the petition packet, then I would say since yours is assigned, it will be requested sooner than later.  Hang in there .
My embassy has been taking anywhere from a couple weeks to a month for petitions to be requested.  And the hack I used with DHL shows they are shipping one day during shipping week to Kyiv.  And the last shipment had 2 waybills.  But I would recommend just checking once on Friday every other week.  So check the 26th and if you see your case is in transit, then you know it is on the way and you should receive word from Tokyo embassy the following week sometime.  If it does not show in transit, then you can prepare yourself for the week of the 7th of December for shipping.  I really honestly think that the embassy already had a full load last week and that is why yours did not ship

Start filling up the Ds-160 and gathering documents :)) Once it gets shipped to Japan itll take about a week to get your packet! There are very few Dec and Jan interview slots last time I checked so yoh might want to schedule one soon as you can. Here’s hoping yours gets shipped next week! 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Actually just focus on this.  Your case was created right before a shipping day so that means it will ship either 23rd/24th of November or in a couple weeks (the 7th/8th of December).  NVC only ships every other week and both of our embassy cases were created the week of shipping, so they are both going to ship to their respective countries either next week or the 2nd week in december.  Hang in there!

Wow apparently I did not send this.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nfin98c33IEpB0T0FlURERriblYmlm5O/view (same link at the beginning)
The screenshot i show is from this on the document page 6:

Basically in the reference, use EXP (day) (3 letter month) (4 digit year)A for the shippers reference.  What i did is I put EXP 09 NOV 2021A and put the estimated leave dates as 09 - 11 - 2021 to 10-11-2021 and ukraine.  It did not pull up with that so i put EXP 10 NOV 2021A and saw it with those dates.  Again, this was just a shipment to Kyiv and not my particular petition, but it was awesome to see transit dates.  So for next week, query the link on Friday (the 26th) and put EXP 23 NOV 2021A for poland and see if it left then.  If not, then try EXP 24 NOV 2021A for poland with the same dates.  Especially if your case changes to in transit by Friday on CEAC then you can see.  Unless there are alot of cases and they have to split between Tuesday/Wednesday for shipments to Poland, you will only see one for Poland with so many items in it.

Yeah I know you are in the same week of approvals as I am.  Basically when I was 3 weeks out, i started calling twice a week.  Finally someone was able to get me a case number   It just took 4 weeks total for that.  I would say this week or next week for sure to get that case #.  Or at least for them to say "we've received your case but it has not been assigned a case #." because then at least you know it is 1-2 weeks for that.
