Wow! There are some twisted personal opinions in this thread, many written really poorly. If you can't spell or string together a sentence, better not to say it at all eh?
If the OP is unhappy and feeling like the marriage isn't working, then she needs to do what she needs to do to better her situation. If she continues to stay and take shite from her miserable SOB husband, then oh well.

It has nothing to do with the system being "antiquate", it is NOT legal at the moment. I'm all for gay marriage but you can't blame the system that is based upon US FEDERAL law in which it is not legal. If US law changes, then so will USCIS eventually.

"A person like me"? Do you mean, a university educated individual who has successfully completed the immigration process, found a decent job, just bought a home I can actually afford and is general has a great marriage?
And I won't back off. Because threads like this just spiral out of control and give out all kinds of bad information. The only time you need to show ID in reference to a greyhound bus is when you purchase a ticket and in that regards, it would have been my driver's license. Although, I guess you never got your wife that either so her only form of ID is some expired visa. I've never in my life had to show proof to get on the bus, only when buying the ticket.
Do you notice that all your information is completely hearsay? "This lady told me.." , "I heard from my friend...", for someone who has messed up the immigration process, you sure are an expect on EVERYTHING from ICE to Immigration Detention facilities.
I may not know much about ICE, because I would have no need being LEGAL, but I can tell you that if you are legitimately in this country and doing your best, they will have no interest in you. I have never heard ANY ONE say on this site, that was legit, that they were picked up by ICE for apparently no reason.
Furthermore, you keep on saying "without your papers" like this is the 1940s. No one here has papers that they carry around with them. I have a Greencard, that is it and that should be enough. If you aren't legal, then they should pick you up.
There is little logic in anything you say and that is why so many people have stopped caring or even being sympathetic.
I may be a bit of a hot head, but at least I can call a farce when I see what my friend. This is what your whole situation is, and you have dedicated multiple threads on giving us all updates because you think it is so important. Well, it's not.

I could care less who says what to what I said. I'm usually a pretty understanding person and try to be conscious of what I say/write, but in this case, this whole thing is just annoying me to the point of aggravation.
I really think he is just taking advantage of people's eye sight at this point.

You said she was picked up TWO STATES AWAY! She doesn't need papers to travel state to state so please explain what the *uck you are talking about. How did BP pick her up??? It is not like she was caught going to Mexico or Canada.
And no, they can't. Since I'm LEGAL, ICE would have NO problem with me. They can't pick me up and throw me in their car for walking down the street. If they pick you up, they have probably been looking for you.
Please stop talking complete s*hit. You are annoying as all hell and I'm tired of this thread completely. Why are there 13 pages for someone who didn't follow the law, and then goes on and on about how his poor wife goes from a shelter, to an immigration facility, etc.
You shouldn't be married. Period. You have had a crappy pseudo-marriage and expect people to care and learn from your mistakes. No one would take advice from you at this point so stop sounding like you are a great example of what not to do and how to fix it.

I just wanted to say to all of those who have given me advice or information over the past 5 years that you are brilliant and I wish nothing but the best for you guys! I know many of those who were around at 4 or 5 years ago aren't anymore but there are some who still are.
Tomorrow is my last day in the US. I have been able to acquire a job in Toronto so I am heading back and starting my husband's visajourney!
I'm so happy to be moving back and couldn't be more thrilled to settle down in what has always been home for me.
    Best of luck!

There is some very silly advice in this thread (ie. "is this even a relationship that you should consider if you don't want to be married?)
Don't listen to any of that dribble.
    Here are the facts though.
Sapphire did it the right way. I did it the wrong way. Like you, I wanted to be with my boyfriend after I graduated but didn't know what to do or what steps to take. I wish I had sought out Visajourney before I made my decision. I had been with my boyfriend for 2.5 years, knew I wanted to be together, and that's all that mattered. There was NO logic or rational in any of the decisions I made for awhile. So, I went to the border and told the BP officer I was visiting for a few weeks. I ended up staying for 5 months, got engaged and then at the 7th month mark got married. That entire time, I had no job, no life, no friends, baked a lot of cupcakes, waited on my husband to come home, watched every season of ER and missed home like crazy. And then filed AOS. I ended up being in the US for 11 months total not being eligible to work and when I was eligible, i got a shitty job at a construction company where I got paid $12/hr. (As a note, I was making $22/hr as a university student in local government back in Canada)
I'm not sorry for marrying my husband. He's fantastic. If you love your guy, just try to be patient and wait it out for awhile. What I did was not worth my emotional sanity. I cried every day for months. Also, you may want to consider your move to the US right now. Things aren't good!!! Many people are trying to get out of here and try something different. There aren't very many jobs to go around, the housing market is in the toilet and overall it's just dismal.
Also, and this is just my personal advice, make sure you actually WANT to move to the US. Traveling here for a vacation or a few weeks and living here are two different things. I've found it horrible here for the most part and have had a hard time adjusting to suburban New Jersey life. It's been really difficult for me socialize with people because they are so different than what I was used to back home and overall I do not believe in many of the country's social principles. Especially after I got into the working world here, I was shocked at how different people treat each other down here. I know I'm not the only one who has found it difficult either, so just make sure you are ready to make the change because it is a different culture down here. Has he thought about moving up to Canada with you? Make sure you talk about all of your options because I sure wish I had.
    Good luck!

    Update:
Because I work in Facilities at a university we have a special weather cast we pay money for that is VERY accurate. We use it to predict snow storms so we know how to prepare our team.
THIS STORM IS NO JOKE. Please be careful. Charge your cell phones before Sunday if you're in the DC, NJ, NY, etc. area.
I usually would not panic over this as the news usually does blow things WAY out of proportion.
We have contacted our colleagues in other facilities teams in NJ who all agree that most of us in the state will experience 8-10 inches of rain. NJ will flood in 2 inches of rain so this is a serious matter for us. States like Florida have better and NEWER drainage systems than places like NY, NJ, New England in general. Many parts of NY and NJ are also in low lying areas which makes it very difficult for water to drain. Our highways have weak drainage systems as well.
NJ is also already saturated from rain in the past few weeks which, if high winds prevail, will make it easy for things to come out of the ground.
We are scurrying to pump the storm drains at the University as clean as possible so that they can take as much water and ####### on the ground as possible. We are tying down trees. We are pulling all garbage cans inside. We are pulling down lights and stationing them in safe places. So as someone who is right now, this minute, involved in preparations for this storm, please don't listen to any one who is inferring it's being blown out of proportion.
While it's not the apocalypse, it doesn't mean you shouldn't take it seriously. Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best.

haha It does! But what's worse, is that NJ actually has some great produce during the seasons. But, for some reason, if you go to the grocery store they won't sell NJ tomatoes. They will import them. I went to a farmers market on the weekend and bought a bunch of beautiful looking tomats for cheap. I go the grocery store, they are all bruised up and are on sale for $3.99/pound!

As flames said, do not hire a lawyer. I stupidly also hired one and it cost us $4,000.00 for them to just do the paperwork which, after finding VJ, I could have easily done myself.

hahah. I hear you gypsy. It's not the friendliest of places. If we didn't come from that "Cheers" culture where everyone knows everyone and you are sort of willing to talk to anyone, it maybe wouldn't see so odd to us. I just find people extremely confrontational here. People have very strong sets of extreme beliefs, too, so you have to be careful what you say. In Canada, I always feel like I can have discussions, like proper discussions, with friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances without too many judgement being passed. This is certainly the land of judgement.
