The United States is interested in establishing a humanitarian and disaster relief force at U-Tapao, a naval and air force complex on the eastern seaboard built by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War.
"The return to U-Tapao would be very symbolic for the U.S., sending a message to China that it is returning to mainland South-East Asia," Panitan Wattanayagorn, a military affairs expert at Chulalongkorn University, told the Post.
Such a move would require approval by Thai lawmakers, some of whom are skeptical about the U.S. military being permanently based in Thailand, he said.

No you actually have more rights than I do. You don't have to do military service yet you can enjoy health insurance, unemployment and any other "social security" like benefit, you can vote for your traitor Arab members of parliament, that I have to pay 10,000 dollars a month just so they can spit in my face, you can build your house without getting permissions like the rest of us, avoid taxes, speak your mind and go anywhere freely, dress freely, unlike any other countries in the neighborhood...yeah if you don't like the rights you have maybe you don't deserve them.
Both of our families lived in Haifa then...maybe they were friends! I'll definitely ask my gram about your story as I like to hear both sides. Whether it happened or not does not change the fact that the Arabs in the 20's started attacking the Jews, whereas the Jews tried to defend themselves and do what they had to do to survive and be able to establish their homeland. What you are mentioning happened after the war started in 1947. You be freightened after being attacked for 3 decades in pogroms in your own land and a holocaust over in Europe, and then be attacked by 5 different armies at once, and see how you react. It is not much different from the Americans placing the Japanese in camps during WWII. I'm not saying I necessarily agree with neither or think they should have happened, but until we're in their shoes at the time with everything that's going on it's hard to judge. Also, people like to talk about the Palestinian refugees but tend to forget that around that same time about the same amount of Jews were kicked out of the surrounding Muslim countries. While Israel took those Jews and gave them a homeland, the neighboring countries found it convenient to leave the Palestinians in refugee camps, so they can use it as a card as they do till this very day.
Israel does not teach anyone to hate, and what you mentioned about Jews not renting or selling to Arabs is a minority of a minority, usually orthodox jews(seculars don't tend to listen to rabbis), and most of us including myself who aren't orthodox do not agree with it. However, if a Jew tries to buy or rent a house in an Arab village, the attitude is normally the same so again, you're only looking at one side.

Please watch the video below (sorry I could not imbed it), it shows one of the buildings the Israelis destroyed.. Notice how everyone is leaving and the camera is aimed right at the location.. Why? Because hours before bombing it Israel informed the locals (and everyone else) that they were going to take it out. This is normal procedure and has only one purpose.. to reduce civilian casualties. The goal is to destroy infrastructure, not kill people. It is war, it is brutal, it is terrible.. but lets be honest about it.
    Destruction Video
Now take the other side.. The absolute hope of those firing the rockets is to kill people.. period. They could care less about damaging systems or vital infrastructure.. the total goal *total* is to kill as many people as possible to make headlines. The rockets are packed with as much explosives as possible to make it to their targets. If they could make them more deadly they would. Compromises are made for better distance and "accuracy"... Pretending that explosives are removed for any other purpose is dishonest. They want to kill people and they are taking their best shot.

If you could you rephrase the analogy, but this time use rockets instead of "water balloons," multiple extremists instead of a single "child," and weapons caches and strategic military points instead of "houses," then yes. Yes I would. And if some actual houses get knocked over in the meantime, I might consider it (with sadness in my heart) collateral damage.

And here we have it folks! According to some posters on here it's ok to fire rockets into heavily populated Israeli cities if most of the explosives are removed from said rockets in order for those rockets to achieve such a distance.

You know as well as I do that Hamas would not use these weapons responsibly.
Israel is carrying out surgical strikes and making strenuous efforts to avoid civilian casualties. They issue warnings to civilians via dropped leaflets and text messages to stay away from individuals and locations likely to be targeted.
100 casualties in more than 1,350 attacks - which roughly means 1 person died in 1 out of 13 attacks, and 12 out of 13 had no collateral damage whatsoever.
How many Israelis would be dead if Hamas had access to the same type of weaponry?

You think? I doubt it. The blockade is only one piece of the puzzle. Even if the blockade were fully lifted, Hamas would keep pushing - for the Palestinian right of return, recognition of the Green Line as the Palestinian-Israeli boundary, you name it... not to mention that weapons would start pouring in from neighboring states. There would be more violence, not less.

I lived in the Middle East for 5 years, and if anyone REALLY thinks this, they are living in a la-la land with rainbows and unicorns.
From my perspective and observations - the Palestinians have built their entire society and present mentality around the injustice that exists because Israel exists (I am not commenting on the right or wrongness of the existence of Israel, just commenting on the Palestinian reaction). Many of them vehemently feel that Israel should not even exist, and will never accept the reality of a Jewish state in the area. This mentality has spread to other Arab states, and this ‘support’ has only reinforced the Palestinian struggle against Israel. To some, this injustice warrants violence in order to ensure that Israel ceases to exist.
Anyone seriously suggesting Israel and the Palestinians could live together as one state under the current vitriol and bitterness is delusional. I think even two separate states is very optimistic at this point.

It's an unfortunate situation. If Israel is to survive as a stable Jewish state, it has to do terrible things. It has to deny right of return. It has to bomb the occupied territories from time to time. These are things it has to do, if it is to survive.
I don't envy the situation they're in. There's simply no way for them to survive and look good doing it.

Read up on the history of that region. The Arabs had more than one chance to change history and they opted for war each and every time. To the winner goes the spoils. The Arabs were so sure fire that having five countries invade Israel would solve the Jewish problem that they didn't think of the consequences if they lost. They lost several times and this is where it's at now. If you keep rolling the dice eventually your going to ####### out and the Arabs crapped out over and over and over again.
You really think Israel as a Jewish state, and Arabs with their Sharia law are going to live in one single state and share power? I mean Iv'e done my share of acid back in the day including Orange Sunshine and window pain but I still kept it together and grasped reality. Start buying lotto tickets because your going to have a far better chance of winning the lottery than you will of ever seeing a shared Jewish / Muslim state. The Jews finally got Israel back and they aren't about to share it with anyone. Until you see that part of reality your just bumping your gums.

I would hope so. But it is still growing, and we are still sustaining record deficits, are we not? We don't worry so much about how we got here, but rather where we are going, especially after four years of virtually doing nothing to solve the problem, and creating a new entitlement that by any reasonable measure, will and has made the economic situation worse.

How about a national debt that's higher than Pakistan's (relative to GDP)?
Wouldn't the states be better off if they were *peaceful* countries, and didn't have to support the military-industrial complex, endless wars, 1000 military bases around the globe, subsidies for big business and a bloated, overpaid, do-nothing government?
