  1. Ah. See the link "Office Reviews & Info" atop any VJ page, and read any reviews pertaining to Iraqi beneficiaries. Look through the portal (also atop the page) for Iraq, for reviews. If you find any similar recent cases, send them a private message for insights, then let us know your findings (in general, without directly quoting a private message).
  2. English-only outside the regional forums, LL ma'am! Reported!!!
  3. I'm surprised that such a frank article was allowed to appear in what's presumably a "mainstream media" newspaper in Scotland. The Establishment would never allow that here.
  4. In theory, the beneficiary can interview alone. Sometimes, the country of the beneficiary can matter. You have no VJ timeline. At which U.S. consulate will your beneficiary interview? For example: Awhile back, petitioners were expected to be at Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). They were apprised of that, as I recall. Conversely, petitioners were expected at the Guayaquil consulate (Ecuador) but were NOT told that in advance. There are benefits when the petitioner is on the consular premises or within range. Some think that it adds credibility to the bona fide nature of the relationship. Such presence is valuable in a practical sense if the consular officer has questions; the petitioner can be called in or can easily appear the next day to answer questions or provide documents, thus avoiding the issuance of a 221(g).
  5. I gave Founder Steve his very first upvote sometime back (upvotes weren't always part of VJ), and another one just now. Such a resource!
  6. The only one for Immigrant Visa interviews (K-1, CR-1) is Guayaquil. Quito doesn't do these, ever. I had all kinds of trouble with GYQ back in the day. I haven't heard any complaints here in recent years (much turnover of consular personnel). Look under the "Office Reviews" tab atop this VJ page to read any recent reviews. Did you get your stuff translated? *** Thread is moved from the K-1 Case Progress subforum to the Embassy/Consulate forum. ***
  7. Fifty lashes with a... with a... uh... an eyelash brush or whatever they're called...
  8. Saturday ES report, see man: The ES yielded the following, see man: -- NIP bottle rubbing-alcohol; tall indoor blue "recycle" wastebasket = $Many-&-a-half ($[2+1] + half a buck), steal man Total = $Many-&-a-half ($[2+1] + half a buck)
  9. A noncontributory post has been removed.
  10. One post has been removed upon its author's request. Another post, by one experienced member to another experienced member, has been removed because of untoward accusations of an "attack." More posts, by a newer member in response to experienced members, have been removed because of needling/badgering. Post respectfully, or refrain from posting. VJ Moderation
  11. Should be unlawfully (condoning or considering doing something illegal)? Otherwise, great post. By the way, it's unnecessary to report every questionable or disagreeable post in a thread. Just report one (an early one, preferably) and ask for the thread to be reviewed for Terms of Service and tone. The "tone" guideline is the Terms of Service provision that typically accompanies a violation of the "restrict or inhibit" provision: "Make comments in a Post either direct or implied toward another member that are purposely designed to upset, antagonize, make fun of, belittle, harass, insult, or otherwise instigate an argument that takes away from the personal enjoyment of the Service by other users." The "purposely designed" part is important.
  12. You're absolutely right. If any really recent thread has upset your sense of propriety as we've discussed it, feel free to file a report. I'm out... uh, er (blush), I need to step away for an hour or so, but I or another member of the Mod team will take a look at it for you.
  13. DM may be effective, or it could inflame matters -- usually the latter. Calling people out in threads definitely pours gasoline on the situation and clouds the discussion. Your first step should be to report an issue. Think hard (apply the imagery of above first), then report.
  14. Extremely valuable information. Go ahead and cross-post the doctor's name/information in the other thread where you mentioned him.
  15. This is helpful information for many. Feel free to post the doctor's name/location.
  16. Solicitation is prohibited under the Terms of Service. Thank you. Outside links can't be shared here. Someone will be along to cite the reasons behind that policy. Absolutely! They pay us Mods the big bucks (= nothing ) to handle these things. If something sincerely upsets your sense of decorum, report it. We're your resource in such instances.
  17. Same here, but awaiting clarification.
  18. To those who are upset: Other than reporting what you perceive to be untoward replies, what is your suggested solution or resolution?
  19. Sorry that you feel that way. Sleep on it, then reread it. Not a girl, either, last I checked (= just now).
  20. As stated, if input violates the Terms of Service or are noncontributory, hit "report post" and explain your reasoning. You can report one post and, at the same time, ask for subsequent or surrounding posts to be reviewed. The Moderation team will then look at the thread. We're not shy about removing noncontributory posts, but we can't be in every thread all the time.
  21. Everyone reading here is referred to this thread, pinned in the K-1 Process forum and similarly in the CR-1 Process forum: In addition to the above, bear in mind that the most experienced members are typically participating in a great many threads all across the forums, trying to be concise while openly providing advice gained from personal or forum experience. If a response seems unnecessarily blunt, read it again, picturing a brotherly or sisterly or avuncular arm around your shoulders as the words in the post are spoken. Doing this can restore the elements of "tone" that are routinely lost when words are merely typed. If you perceive more helpfulness after reading the post in this way, then you have your answer as to whether the post was well-meant. Everyone is invited to review the site's Terms of Service, found here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/terms If a post truly violates a provision, hit the "report post" button at upper right and explain your reasoning. Folks, this legal-immigration process is dysfunctional at best and broken at worst. The tension and frustration become unbearable, seemingly with no way to fight against it or relieve it. Please remain unfailingly supportive of each other. Remember that if you hold one pencil and snap it, it will break; conversely, if you hold a handful of pencils and try to snap them, they'll remain undamaged. It's best to hang together through this journey. Remember, too, that those of us who are finished with this infernal process are hoping and praying for your progress almost as intensely as you are. You're not alone, and you're never forgotten. Take comfort and find renewed strength in this.
