I would think fines would be a more equitable solution. However, the article states that she has refused to pay the fines, which is contributing to why she is being jailed. France is a very secular state, if you choose to live there, you should follow the social norms and more importantly laws.

I don't see that there is any rationale, or legal standing to revoke her citizenship, or send her anywhere. But I have to ask Sofiyya, what would you suggest be done here? The French people have a long history of being very secular. It would seem you would prefer that the nation change their laws, and a part of society itself to accomodate a small(ish) group of people.

Regarding Tim Tebow, I think we should look at the reaction of Kurt Warner, who himself was a very devout and public christian. Even Warner has publicly told Tebow to tone down the religious rhetoric. I think the reaction to religion in sports has been fairly consistent. People don't mind religious outbursts, in terms of celebration. But by and large, people don't want to feel like you are prosthelytizing.

Is it really such an unreasonable demand of a segment of immigrants to try to become a part of the culture and people with whom they intend to live with? If I got a job that required me to work and live in say Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, my SO would be expected to conform to local cultural norms, yet in the reverse case, it is unreasonable? I don't know how Tony Romo gets lumped into that class of elite quarterbacks, because he isn't, and never was. He had a couple 300 yard games 5 years ago, and people started speculating that he could be the next Tom Brady, so he got a massive contract. He has an elite player paycheck, but he has never really lived up to it.
