My first impression when I saw the article headline was that this was going to be a politically motivated move by Egypt. You could still make that case given who has grabbed the most seats in the newly formed Egyptian government. However, the fact is, Egypt just had a major upheavel and overthrew their government. The new fledgling government lacks credibility and real authority, especially since they have a tenuous relationship with the military at the moment. I think it could potentially be unsafe for a large group of Israelis to visit at this time.

I was hoping this would be about the storm of crime and degenerates that have swept across Alaska over the past 10 years. Since 1990, Alaska has had one of the highest increases in violent crime rates, especially against women.
Actually Charles, there is a developing situation that is having a severe impact on polar bears. The area, and especially waters around Hudson Bay have been significantly warmer the last couple of years. The impact is that the water does not freeze as far otu as it did even 2 decades ago, so food supplies are drying up because the seals just swim further out. As a grizzly consequence, many starving polar bears have resorted to eating their young, or parents in desperation.

When I was in junior high, we learned about the contributions of homosexuals. It was controversial for a couple of the kids in my class and their parents pulled them out of class. These same kids were also pulled out during sex ed as well, so YMMV.
So you would be completely against intelligent design or creationism being taught in a public school?
I keep saying that Danno, but you keep denying it. Good to see you've finally accepted that.
Danno, the difference is, I can accept that you and other religious folks have a right to believe in that sort of stuff. You on the otherhand want to supress anything and everything Gay. You don't even support equal civil rights for gay people. See the difference? I am intolerant towards religion and don't want it being taught as it has no academic or scientific merit. You want to repress the rights of fellow American citizens, simply because they are at odds with your religion.
From what I have seen, that is not true. When I was taught in school about gays, we were first taught about it as an abstract concept. Nothing specific, just generalities about how some peoples parents were different from our own, and that was not better or worse, only different. That was in 4th or 5th grade I believe. When I was older, 7th or 8th grade, when they start to teach you more about the specifics and mechanics of sex, that part was omitted. Never once was it taught (to me at least) with the connotation that religion is bad, gay people are great.
It isn't training Danno, it's teaching, informing. Just because you object to the subject matter doesn't mean that it is brainwashing, or "training" as you put it. It's sad that you would prefer hatred be allowed to fester, rather than inform people about gay people.

Federal government redefines rape, and who can be a victim
On Friday, rape victims whose crimes have been overlooked by federal statistics gained new recognition. After more than 80 years, the federal government has changed its definition of rape for the Uniform Crime Report, the country’s report card for serious crime.
The change allows men and boys to be counted as victims and expands which assaults can be counted as rape.
“It kind of dispels the myth as to who are victims and what sexual assault looks like,” said Nancy Haag, executive director of Anchorage-based Standing Together Against Rape.
Alaska has the highest rates of rape in the nation. In Anchorage alone, from 1995 to 2007, the Anchorage police documented 3,914 sexual assaults. Of those, only 2,855 were reported the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report as rape, leaving more than 1,000 victims undocumented in the federal record.
Nationwide, 84,767 rapes were reported in 2010 under the old definition. “This estimate does not present an accurate picture,” Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to President Barack Obama, told reporters Friday. “Definitions matter because people matter.”
While local crime statistics may be more comprehensive, counting as rape any non-consensual sexual contact involving penetration, the outdated federal definition only allowed a narrow segment of these rape victims to be officially recognized in the federal statistics.
The old definition classified rape as “the carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.” That means “forcible male penile penetration of a female’s #######,” explained Susan Carbon, Department of Justice director of the Office on Violence Against Women.
The new definition includes penetration of the #######, rape with an object, and other forms of non-consensual sexual contact. Victim and perpetrator can be of any gender.
A definition change will aid public discussion of rape, in which people often focused on the old definition and failed to recognize other forms of assault as “real rape,” Carbon said. Excluding men and boys, and the use of other body parts or objects as the weapon, denied victims of such crimes legitimacy. It may also have caused them to miss out on support from family members and services that might otherwise have been available had the assault been defined as a rape, she said.

I think the whiners from welfare states, that take in more money from the federal government than they pay should mind their own business, and focus on their own lives and jobs and let California govern itself.
