Thanks Mike! This is very helpful. As long as there's no legal basis to deny entry, I don't mind their grumble

Renewing my Polish passport defo on my radar - some serious logistics involved to get it done in the US.

Some CBP officers are unhappy when the only valid passport you have does not match the country noted on the green card.  Legally these officers have no basis to deny you entry or fine you, but they will grumble / threaten you.

Generally the remedy is to just present a valid I-551 and not present a passport.  IME when I had a 10 year gc, 75 percent of the time the CBP officer didn’t ask for my passport (because the sole entry document for LPRs is a valid I-551). However, my experience traveling with my wife by commercial air is that the CBP officer has always asked to see her passport when we’ve presented her gc + extension letter.

So in summary, you can use your Irish passport, but expect grumbling,  barking, and/or screaming at the border check point.  Enough of these incidents might prod you to renew your Polish passport.

The interview went fine and the visa was approved with just returns (in fact, they didn't even ask for transcripts during the interview). Just in case I had with me all other documents proving income (W8, pay stubs, letter from employer) but they didn't ask for it.

US Consulate in Vietnam asked us to upload tax transcript, W-2 for 2019. My tax 2019 return is still at IRS. I uploaded my copy of I-1040 with all schedules, W-2 and paytub on CEAC. They dont have issue with it at all. Good luck.

No.  All were in CEAC as part of our AOS submittal.  I assume they reviewed them before the interview.

A copy of the signed tax return with W2's should be fine.  That is what we used for our 2019 tax. We had transcripts for 2018 and 2017.

Just wanted to write about my POE experience because I haven’t read much about it here.
The airline staff at check in were a little confused as I did not have a physical green card. Luckily there seemed to be someone there who might have been working for the embassy or CBP who clarified it was fine. At the gate, my boarding pass wouldn’t scan and the airline staff had to call through to double check I did in fact go through check in.    Upon entry to JFK I thought I would be taken to a room for secondary screening but it was just a CBP Officer at the desk. He commented on how quickly it was for us to get the visa, took some fingerprints and then we were done. He stamped my passport and explained that it was valid for a year and I’m free to leave and enter with that stamp. It didn’t take any more than 10 minutes.    So that was surprisingly easy and quick. I thought it would take at least an hour.

This is not correct, you can translate yourself and certified it yourself.

She needs to put a certification of translation at the bottom of translated documents.

I agree that even if the beneficiary has never been in their country of citizenship, the interview can still only be in country of actual documented residence (not a tourist or visitor) or country of citizenship.

It's difficult for me to comprehend such a circumstance that leaves a person with no country of legal residence at all, when they are a citizen of a country on which they have never set foot.  I get that it's possible.  I just can't comprehend the specifics without more information.

In my opinion if you don’t have legal residency anywhere outside of the country of your citizenship, then that’s where you will need to interview

It looks like some documents are still missing. Have you submitted documents for both: the petitioner and beneficiary (i.e. both sections say "Submitted")?

We submitted our request via their "Ask NVC" form.

When you submit it, make sure to add:
    - proof of citizenship (if you want to move it to your home country) or residence (if you want to move it to your country of residence);
    - current address & your local phone number

DamianB got a reaction from Ericka Womack in Filing for Spousal Visa Question about name change.
When we were starting the visa process, a lawyer advised us that it might be easier to wait with changing the name until the visa is issued. Mostly because all our documentation, flight tickets, bank accounts, etc was under my wife's maiden name.

I'd say it takes 2-3 months rather than weeks but as you said, things are moving pretty fast recently. Maybe this post will give you some reference:

Thanks Melc! I actually went through my DS-260 to double check and there's no reference to the UK anywhere there (other than countries visited).
We re-submitted the Gibraltar certs yesterday with two pieces of additional information: 1. Email correspondence with Gibraltar Police explaining that they no longer issue "Certificate of Good Conduct", instead they call it now Subject Access Request Certificate; 2. A letter explaining we never resided in the UK (pointing them to that documents website).

Hopefully this will clarify it 🤞

Oh, strange! In the accompanying letter, I would point them to this as well.

Out of curiosity, for “country” on the other forms, did you specify UK or Gibraltar?

We specified the country as Gibraltar. But also lived in the UK and filed through DCF, so we never dealt with the NVC.

You could always try contacting ACRO to see if they can write a statement that they don’t cover Gibraltar and attach that as well.
