    My thoughts?

Well, as Americans, we have all seen a lot of mass shootings done by child killers... but I have never ever seen "parents" of a killer behave like this before that's for sure. Get themselves a lawyer but not their son. Show no remorse. Be not cooperative. And finally run away like cowards. The kid will be ruled incompetent to stand trial or take a plea, and they were content to behave like idiots. I think I can understand how/why this kid turned out.

I don't know if the charges against them will be successful. It is clear they bought him the gun, and kept it unsecured. They were made aware of his deep distress and psychological problems, but kind of laughed it off and left him ((?????!!!)) at the school. They were aware he was browsing ammo in class and doodling disturbing things and the mother not only laughed but encouraged him to "not get caught" which really shows you the contempt and 'brilliant' parenting going on. The father in this situation is a deadbeat to his other children.  The normal procedure is to turn yourself in utilizing your lawyer to facilitate an agreement, not to go running and break into building. Absolute trash.

Like most thing I want to wait until the facts come out and apply logic. If they bought a gun for their disturbed son, then they need to be burnt chicken. If they bought a gun and had it secured then not so much. We do know that sometimes prosecutors over reach. Here is their side. Is it true? We will find out. Juries normally get it right. They got it right in Rittenhouse, The got it right in George Floyd and they got it right in the the recent trail of the 3 men that killed the kid in Brunswick Ga. Like I said I want to hear the facts but this is the other side. Not saying who is right at this point.

The prosecutor  messed up? Is that why they ran away and hid in the basement of a business?  They had plenty of opportunity to surrender.

Anti-Asian hate crimes rose 73% last year, updated FBI data says
Corrected FBI numbers show a disproportionate increase in hate crimes against Asian Americans.
“The way that the media is covering and the way that people are understanding anti-Asian hate at this moment, in some ways, draws attention to these long-standing anti-Asian biases in U.S. society,” Janelle Wong, a professor of American Studies at the University of Maryland, told NBC Asian America in June. “But the racist kind of tropes that come along with it — especially that it’s predominantly Black people attacking Asian Americans who are elderly — there’s not really an empirical basis in that.”

Really? No one has a comment about the extraordinary step of charging the parents for this young man's crime?

Today at 12:04 p.m. EST|Updated today at 11:12 p.m. EST   PONTIAC, Mich. — The parents of a 15-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting four classmates at a Michigan high school were criminally charged Friday, an extraordinarily rare move to hold parents accountable when a minor uses their weapon in a school shooting.
In announcing the charges, Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald shared chilling new details about the behavior of James and Jennifer Crumbley, parents of Oxford High School shooting suspect Ethan Crumbley, in the days leading up to the rampage.
As of Friday night, multiple law enforcement authorities, including the U.S. Marshals Service, said they are looking for the Crumbleys. Attorneys said in a statement that the couple had left town the night of the shooting “for their own safety” and would return to be arraigned.

LOL, "feminazi"! I see St. Rush may be dead but still speaks with the tongues of others in his afterlife.

Feminism is quite simply the radical belief that women are human beings, deserving of the same respect and dignity as men. (I am not descending into the whole "ZOMG there are 67,541.82 genders so whyyyyyyy are you only talking about two sexes, maven, you are going to bad liberal girl jail" which trust me is not as hot as it sounds.) I am a lifelong feminist, raised by feminists, educated by feminists. My long-time boyfriend is Southern man, born and bred -- and a feminist. I would hazard that most if not all of my close friends are feminists. I am also an elitist scumbag of the highest order who has more pieces of parchment up on the wall giving me letters after my name than I know what to do with. I don't have kids, don't want kids, love my career, am loved with the heat of a thousand suns by my man, and have in general a pretty great life.

And as a feminist, I don't want exactly that for every woman. I want -- like nearly every feminist out there except for the most radical whackadoos posting on Tumblr -- every woman to be able to make her own choices about the direction of her life. You want to be a homemaker? Cool, very hard job. You want to be a lawyer? Seriously, get your head examined, but good on ye, lassie. But what if you change your mind? Isn't that a woman's right? Sure, knock yer socks off. Let it all hang out, freak flag flying for being a stay-at-home mom or a groovy astrophysicist or a stone cold fox of a trophy wife. You do you, boo. You don't even have to be a feminist yourself for me to wish this for you.

Men like Herr Professor in the OP's post should consider teaching at a men's college if they're so concerned about women getting their pretty little heads turned by book-larnin' and forget about the ultimate goal of being a woman: a wife and a mother. Part of being the solution is not being part of the problem, non?

We are told not to believe the most radical members of certain groups do not represent the mainstream. The same holds true for feminists. Peace out, back to work emasculating nearly one half of the populace.

The subject is hate crimes against Asian Americans.

In this forum there are multiple references to terms meant to paint  Asians as the cause of covid (also used by Trump). Use of that language helps create a culture where harassment and bullying is more likely.

I am not saying the kids who assailed this young lady listen to Trump or read VJ. I am saying the language is derogatory and shouldn't be used.

I don't listen to enough hiphop lyrics to say whether some inspire hatred against  Asians or not.

That's about 0.0000905172 percent which is outstanding.  All vaccines have a small number of people that have adverse reactions.  No different with this one. To be fair compare adverse reactions to other vaccines per dose.

I am blaming every adult, especially the former president  who have leveraged the origin of the virus to model racist behavior and language.
A direct link between a statement by the former president and this assault may or may not exist, but young people don't learn bad behavior in a vacuum, it was taught to them by an adult.

The important point is not the race of the assailant, it is that our children are learning that racism is normal and even expected. Terms like "Kung Flu" and "China Virus" are a gateway to hate, and sadly are terms that get used in this forum and by the former president.   Children are watching and will reflect the bigotry adults around them model.
