jesko1869 got a reaction from Chancy in Bogota interview and approval
My fiancee had to answer the most basic questions that they will ask:
1) How did we meet?
2) My birth date?
3) My hobbies
4) They asked about her mother's resident status. Since her mother is a US Resident, they asked about the time period that her mother has been in the US, in addition to other questions relating to mother legal status in the US.
5) What I do for a living?
6) Be ready for a phone from the US Embassy. Ensure that your stories match.
I am not 100% sure how many people were at the interview, but I know that K1 Visas (from what I read in FB), has become a possible priority for the US Embassy in Bogota (they just have not made it public). I would suggest that you follow 'Embajada de los Estados Unidos Colombia on FB (https://www.facebook.com/usdos.colombia). Do you have the embassy's number? If so, what number do you have?
That is awesome. Much thanks for the info and God Bless 🙂

Great. After the interview they told my gf that her visa would be ready in approximately 15 days, so I am guessing that by the end of the month. Her interview was on 1/14. Please keep us posted when the the status on the CEAC site changes. Hopefully you will be getting good news this week. Much thanks for the info and best of luck 🙂

Not yet. I checked CEAC this morning and it says Issued. I’m assuming he’ll have it within a couple of weeks.

Hey, I wanted to say thank you for your wonderful advise. My fiancee had her second K1 interview yesterday and was approved in Bogota, Colombia. The work that you do and the advise that you give is incredible.

We think we have the answer. That is common reply for everyone. This is normal. They are finishing the final steps prior to issuing the visa. As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC.state.gov you must select "immigrant visa" as it is treated as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa". Once you can no longer see any information for your case using "immigrant visa" choose non-immigrant and you will see the status. When it changes from one to the other your visa is almost ready for "issue". Keep watching and when it reaches "issue" status you will soon be contacted by the Embassy to receive your passport with visa intact.

Thanks!
It was not an emergency interview.
We had originally been scheduled for April 2020 and again in December, both cancelled due to Covid.
He was able to do his medicals a few days prior to the December interview appointment.
I really hope the Covid levels go down soon so the Embassy can fully open!

jesko1869 reacted to Ní hUisce in K-1 Lawsuit has been filed in federal court today
It took a lot of time and effort to get the amount of plaintiffs required on board. I think plaintiffs were patient enough during the summer but with mine and others' medicals running out and no end in sight there was soon a matter of urgency to file.

I can't seem to edit my first post. Here are the case details for those who want to follow along at home(this is in PACER).

jesko1869 reacted to supportdesk in K-1 Lawsuit has been filed in federal court today
The tl;dr is this suit challenges a) the lack of K-1 visa issuance and b) the 14 day ban for K-1 holders from "banned" countries.
The full press release is at https://www.dropbox.com/s/coja278monm8ofe/K-1 Lawsuit Press Release.pdf?dl=0 with a few more details. I don't have a copy of the suit at this time.
This is all the news/information I have to share for now!

jesko1869 reacted to JacobP in fiance visa K-1 ( COVID-19 )
None of the presidential proclamations apply to K-1 visa holders aside from travel bans from China, Brazil, and Schengen countries. Numerous documents from the state department sent to the embassies reaffirm this, with lines such as "Posts are reminded that P.P. 10014 and P.P. 10052 do not apply to K visas". A number of embassies are starting to process and issues K-1s as of recent, they wouldn't be if it was impossible to travel.
Your interpretation of the text does not serve as evidence that K-1s issued after are prohibited from entering. The text states that the suspensions outlined in the rest of the text only apply to people with visas issued after the date of the proclamation, but the rest of the text does not reference K-1s whatsoever. Everyone who was involved with pulling that person off the flight was incorrect that they are not allowed to travel by citing the proclamations, and they should putting up a fight instead of believing all this bad info.

jesko1869 reacted to Angela & Brendon in Department of State posted about K1 visa - what does this mean?
That isn't strictly true; K1 visas we de-prioritised and barely any cases were getting processed. The only cases that have been processed have been emergency cases. So this is actually a very good change, and I would advise against misleading and misinforming people.

I am not quite sure why they are not making K1 Visas Mission Critical. As American Citizens, we have gone about this the correct and legal way. Our needs are very important. We should keep pushing this issue.
Thanks for the update.

I saw a conversation that mentioned that the embassy in Bogota may begin Routine Visa Services September 01, 2020. From what I read on a Facebook post, there are people making appointments for September 01, 2020. Just in case anyone is interested in this information.

jesko1869 reacted to joe and karol in Does anybody know when the embassy in Colombia will open?
called the embassy. they said possibly end of October but maybe further. doesn't matter if it's expedited or not. Some people had appointments cancelled the day before in March. McDonald's can stay open but getting fiances and spouses to their families is not critical enough.

Yes. I see small signs for hope. I keep telling myself soon they will focus on K-1s after addressing a few CR1 AND F1 cases, after all we also had appointments which were cancelled by COVID. So we are in line too. And it just isn't fair. We are humans too lol. Keep hope alive. You know hope can actually keep you alive so it's good to be optimistic 😂
