akazenishi reacted to Carlcayl in No Welcome Letter Yet- 8 Weeks Later
Just wanted to give a little update.
called NVC. Found out that our welcome letter emails had been sent out in mid May... to incorrectly typed emails.
somehow both of our emails were incorrect on forms that we verified and typed?
so frustrating that we are now behind two months when we could’ve been early.
anyways, we were able to login to NVC and are able to pay our fees immediately.
anyone reading this, if your intuition says that it feels like unusually long for your welcome letter, give NVC a ring. I wish I’d have called sooner.

Hello! My husband's interview was scheduled last week at the Buenos Aires embassy for July 30th. I haven't been able to find much info on how to organize the paperwork. Like obviously, I know what to include and in what order, but should I put it in a binder? Expanding folder? Or label things with tabs? Does anyone have any suggestions or can link to me another forum that talks about this? Thanks for any help!

Hey there - I have just applied for it a few weeks ago. It's really easy, you're in and out in 15 minutes.
You can call and make a reservation over the phone. The location is the police headquarters in Wanchai (near Pacific Place III).
http://www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/11_useful_info/cert_no_crime.html
The only thing is you HAVE to have a letter from the consulate saying you are approved in your petition. So, you can't do this without having the consulate notify you with your 3rd packet. You also need to fill in a couple of forms beforehand to bring along with you that can be found on the website.
It costs you $205 HKD, you must pay by cash or you can pay by Octopus, but no credit cards or EPS.
All in all, it takes up to 4 weeks, maybe less. And they will mail it to the consulate for you.
In my case, I had my interview scheduled a week after I had done my police cert. It's not an issue that the consulate has not received the police cert yet, it just means that I have to wait for them to receive the police cert, then I can mail in my passport to get my visa.

As far as I'm aware the NVC don't issue specific letters requesting individual country criminal record checks and you can't request one so before sending my actual police check request to HK I sent them - using the email on the website you found - a scan of the cover letter (the one you print when you've paid your fees when they first contact you after i-130 approval) I will use when submitting my documents before getting a consular interview.
I used this as it has my name and case number on it - which is what they like to see in HK.
In my email, along with the scan I advised them that the only proof of request I can give them is this cover letter and an accompanying link (section of the travel.state.gov website) listing the documents needed.
I then contacted them a few times until they confirmed the cover letter was enough. When they did I sent my proper request by post with a payment and it's been processed with no problems.
