Received an update on our I485s this morning. Our interview was cancelled in Mar 2020 and thought it will be awhile to wait for the interview to be scheduled again. With this new update, does it mean out GCs are approved without interview?

Having a husband with a history of bankrupt companies behind him doesn’t mean anything - just ask Melanie Trump. I bet she’s glad this was introduced after she went through AOS.

    That dog doesn't hunt.

Service centers do the initial case review and they don't ever deal with the public at anytime.   Field offices do the final interviews, which hasn't been happening because the offices have been closed to the public.   So that should be actually extending the time to process not shortening

honeypoof reacted to TBoneTX in CBP at TSA Airport Checkpoints: Why They're There & How Best to Handle
People here often post questions about flying domestically when they're at various beginning stages of the immigration process. Answers vary from "carry your complete current documentation with you" to "you will have no problems."

Customs & Border Protection agents sometimes hang out at the TSA airport checkpoints. In August 2015, I flew out of a border-area airport in south Texas and took the opportunity to query the CBP agents at the TSA checkpoint.

T-B.: When you hang out at the TSA checkpoints, are you checking that
    foreign travelers are in status?
    CBP: Exactly.
    T-B.: For example, what if a K-1 entrant's I-94 is expired?
CBP: We have all kinds of ways of checking their status.
T-B.: Would it help if they have their marriage certificate with them?
    CBP: Absolutely.
T-B.: If they've applied for AOS and have their I-797 or at least a copy of their
cover-letter for their I-485, does it help?
CBP: Absolutely anything that they can provide will help a lot, and will speed things up.
T-B.: Why are you at some airports and not others?
CBP: We're at border airports and others that are ports of entry. We're not at all of them.
T-B.: But it still makes sense for legal immigrants to carry their current documentation?
CBP: Absolutely. It helps them and it helps us. It speeds things up a lot.
T-B.: I'll pass this along. Thank you.

This confirms that it makes sense to carry your most recent documentation with you until you have your green card.

I first had Mrs. T-B. carry her marriage certificate (MC) and passport with valid I-94.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and copy of her cover-letter for AOS/EAD/AP.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and her NOA1 (I-797) for AOS.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and AP.
Then, she carried her first green card (= the law).
Then, she carried that green card and her cover-letter for ROC.
Then, she carried that green card and her NOA1 for ROC.
Then, she carried her 10-year green card until she became a naturalized citizen (= the law).

These documents came in handy at various stages, including at a Texas/Mexico land-crossing POE, a couple of airports, and especially inland CBP checkpoints while driving. At these last, the CBP agents are typically in poor humor and are looking to nail someone. For example, if you're not carrying your green card, they'll detain you for as long as it takes to verify that you're who you say you are.

The above is presented in hopes that it will help others.

One you receive the official receipt notice for your adjustment of status paperwork, you are in a period of authorized stay until a decision is made on your case. You can stay in the USA.

If USCIS is sending the RFE instead of NVC, this is not a visa case.  "Past" pay stubs are not evidence of anything "current".  Please clarify if this is a visa case or you are adjusting status.  It makes a difference on how you will be properly advised.

I do not recommend ever using the guides on VJ, which may or may not be up to date.  Always defer to the instructions and forms on the USCIS.gov site, as those ARE correct and up to date.

Relax as i stated just take it easy

#1. No they don’t need nothing about your roommates. This is about you and your spouse. Let’s clear that.

#2. Okay you guys are living separate for now that’s okay. They still need your spouse complete income information and any other information they ask for on the form I-944

i know this is a very difficult process but if you overthink it will place you in a deep stress state.

no need for that. Take a break and I’m serious. relax your mind and move back into it. Read over the document of the I-944 instructions form. It’s all there it’s overwhelming but it’s doable

I would be happy to answer your questions, and I am sorry to hear that you are in the same situation.

So, I received a rejection NOA that said the following:

"This is in reference to the I-485, AOS, you submitted. Your I-485, fees and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reason(s):

The application/petition has not been fully completed. Based on the selection made under Part 2 Application Type or Filing Category, the Form I-944 and/or Form I-864/I-864EZ are required."

The USCIS rejected my AOS application. I did not loose the fees, they sent back the check and they did not charge me (pjuh, I was so worried they would). They sent everything back (yes even the I-765, I-131 and I-864) because they cannot accept the other forms if the I-485 is not correct. So I got EVERYTHING back (it was a sad moment, everything was out of order, the papers were stapled and had holes in them etc).

(I believe) I did not miss anything else other than the I-944 form. However, I am very confused about the rejection notice they gave me regarding "Based on the selection made under Part 2 Application Type or Filing Category" where I put that I am the principal applicant. If you understand, please tell me if I have understood it wrong so I can correct it 😅

If anyone else would understand something that I have not understood, please notify me so I can correct it this time. I would appreciate it SO MUCH. And also, if I have misunderstood something, please correct me so we can prevent others from making the same mistakes.

Thanks to everyone who answered! That’s right, we are not leaving the US. We live near the border, and there are checkpoints everywhere. Yes, looks like my husband has to be confined pretty much to staying put in the city until NOA is received. People who filed later than us, already got their NOAs. I have a feeling that our package going to be returned for some reason. Oh well..

You can use those services online, after taking the photos yourself. Or you can print them yourself (since this is literally all walmart/walgreens/etc does anyway).
I just said to hell with it, and did it at the UPS store. Saves me worrying about lighting, background, size, cropping, cutting, etc. What's $75 in the grand scheme of such a significant life change?
