  1. hello guys, im almost on my way to a interview and i need to know which vaccination shots are required for ciudad juarez, i dont want to get there and turns out my fiance needs some shot which would delay our journey and complicate things. so my fiance has a record of shots that she has gotten since she was born, and i have a scan of it, hopefully someone out there knows which shots are required and if any are missing, any help greatly appreciated, thank you.

Since your fiancee is going through a K1 visa, she won't need vaccines until she goes through adjustment of status. Read about the CDJ consulate here:

  2. Hey all, just checking in. It's still stressful trying to get all the paperwork for adjustment of status. I thought I'd be able to submit it by the end of Sept but I think it might wait a couple of more weeks.

Good luck to everyone! Brian, have fun with your fiance and come back together!

Hey there- good luck finishing all the AOS paperwork. I feel like I should start filling out those forms now just so that when the time comes it won't be quite as stressful. mehh. Or I'll just focus on him getting that visa first! Anyway, hope you can get everything sent off soon :)

And yes Brian- gooood luck to you and your fiance!!! I look foward to a happy post sometime next week!!

Focus on getting your man here first! Then, at least you can deal with the stressful adjustment forms together haha

  4. Hi everyone,

I am the USC and female, my husband arrived on a K-1 Visa, and we're now going through the Adjustment of Status forms.

Right now, I have already applied for my new Social Security card with my married name, will be going to the Motor Vehicle's office soon, and will finally change my name as it appears on my passport.

When we submit the forms to adjust status and it asks for my name, since I am still in the process of changing my name, is it alright to include in the cover letter that I am in the process of changing my name, sign everything in my married name, and submit a certified copy of our marriage certificate?

Or should I just sign everything in my maiden name since my id's (license & passport) don't show my legal name yet?

I'm wondering now if I should've waited to change my name until after my husband receives his LPR card...

    Thanks for your help!

  5. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can bring my 2 and a half year old daughter to the interview. She already has her US Citizenship so she's not filing for anything there. But she stayed behind with me.

The thing is that I don't want to have her waiting under the sun and being uncomfortable. Or would they give me any priority on her behalf to keep her out of the sun?

If not I will have to fly up to leave her with her Dad in the States and then fly back down for the interview alone.

If your daughter has her US Passport, I would recommend not bringing her to the interview. I really don't know if she'll be able to come into the consulate because the only times I hear of children going inside is if they're Mexican citizens waiting for visas. You could call the consulate directly to ask them, but sometimes they don't give straight up answers, and even have given wrong answers. It might be easier to have your fiance fly to El Paso, have him hold onto her while you have your interview, and hopefully fly out of El Paso together home to where he lives. The interview might take 4-7 hrs and it would be uncomfortable for your daughter.

Thank you SOOOOOOO much for your answer!!!

I hope it was helpful. It is up to you though, as to what you ultimately do. Good luck with everything. :star:

  7. Here's my review of what I did (flew into El Paso Airport, taxi to Cordova Bridge, walked through customs building where they also didn't ask me any questions - I just asked where to go "to get to the other side" and they said "that door," walked across bridge, crossed the street at the Mexico Info Center, took a taxi to hotel): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...896&st=2400

There are some pictures too but not too many.

I paid $16 from the airport to the bridge, and 100 pesos ($10) from the bridge to the hotel, which was just about a minute away.

  8. Janet - thanks! Married life is awesome.

Caity - my husband brought a constancia de antecendentes no penales even though it isn't required (even though the CDJ instructions mention it, which is contradictory to what I just said, I know). He didn't have any criminal records either. I almost think that the reason why it's in the instructions is for the people filing waivers, and if they were arrested in the USA also.

As for the DS-230, don't fill it out because CDJ doesn't use it (the way they also don't use the I-134 even though people on here have used it).

I think everything else on your list looks good.

  9. I've never had a live-in boyfriend either, and he's been an awesome, loving, and caring husband (even if it's just been a few days haha). I hope we never change and only get fat. haha

Haha too funny! I think that's what's supposed to happen when you get married and you're happy- you both gain weight... but you do it together, so that makes it romantic, right??

    hahaha!

  10. Hi everyone,

I hope I'm posting this in the right section. Please move it if it's not.

I am the USC who petitioned my K1 visa fiance. He arrived on Aug 27. He will turn 26 in November. After getting married (this wk), we're going to start the Adjustment of Status.

So when does he register for the Selective Service? If he receives his LPR before he turns 26, is that when he registers? Or does he do it now even though his status is still K1?

    Thanks,

    nm

My husband entered on a K1 in June. We didn't fill out any paperwork for selective service. His proof of registration for selective service just came automatically. It arrived about a month ago.

So, do not worry about it. It will be done for you with you having to lift a finger...

Oh good to know. Thank you!

Here's the CDJ map on Google: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&amp...33411f1eb09b96a

If you zoom out on the map, it's on the south part and labeled "New Consulate." It shows a couple of hotels too. I've heard that it's a little more dangerous in that part of town.

  12. We're married!!!! It was a short and sweet 7 minute deal at the court house. In a year or so, we'll have a church wedding. I feels a little different being a Mrs. but it feels good! I feel like I have a friend for life.

I'll get back on later but I think all the new questions that have come up have been helpful (thanks brian and jmmr!).

  13. Hello,

Has anyone gone the CR-1/IR-1 route lately at CJC? I origanly was going to go K-3 but am now thinking about going the CR-1/IR-1 route!!! My I-130 and my I-129 were both sent to VSC but don't know where to go from here.

It looks like I-130's are being processed rather qicklly at NVC.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

I think there used to be a thread with old CDJ CR-1/IR-1 or K3s. If you do a search on here, with something like "K3 CDJ old thread" or "CR-1 IR-1 CDJ thread" you'll probably see it. But it was from 2006. Also read the old posts here in this thread and I think there were a few, but I don't know when the last one was. I'm sorry this isn't very helpful...

  14. VISA IN HAND!!!

    The interview was a succes!!

    Jorge will arrive on SAT

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

    So far so good

He said they treated him very nicely. Everyone there was good and even the people outside were friendly.

Ask him which medical clinic did he choose? I think most of the posts on VJ were basically positive with the one being on the same side of the street as the consulate being slightly in the lead.

Wishing you the best today. :star:

    Brian

jmmr - good luck! I hope everything goes well today!

We're going down to city hall today... :star:

Good Luck today, I'm sure you will get it! You are so lucky!

NM123: Yes, the ppl that had a situation to ours weren't really similar because those posters were already married to their SO's. We are not yet married. I found the paper they gave Edgar when he was rejected and it says to contact the office "after 12/09" to set up a new appt time. I guess that means our case is still open, I wonder if we can schedule the appointment now for later?

Oh... I think you should visit immigrate2us.net and ask them. I'm not sure how else to go about the situation. Maybe you could also msg those other posters?

  15. So far so good

  16. Brian - That was fast! And your plan sounds good. One thing to consider is that your fiancee will probably have her appointment at the new consulate. It's on the google map: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&amp...33411f1eb09b96a

jmmr - Sounds good! So did everything go well today?

So the new consulate is up and running? or will be soon?? Where can I find that information out? I afraid my fiance will go the week it's closed for moving or something like that

i don't think it's on the CDJ website, but at immigrate2us, they talk about it. i just did a search and it looks like the beginning of november the new consulate will be open. last i heard, it was going to be this month.... so i guess that didn't happen yet.

  17. So far so good

He has the results in his hands. He is kind of snoopy, but I'm sure he won't open that envelope. He said they treated him very nicely. Everyone there was good and even the people outside were friendly. That's good to hear. He explained somethings they checked for, drew his blood, checked his eyes, x-rays, etc. It was a basic physical. they asked him about his drug history/none...they asked him if he has ever broken anything/nope....so he's good :)

Tomorrow is the interview!!! I'm so excited for him!! If all that goes well...he will be in my town Saturday :)

THAT IS AWESOME NEWS! We tried to peek into the black medical envelope but the larger one just had his x-ray. There was no way the smaller one would be opened without being obvious.

  19. So glad your sticking around nm123. :star:

I received my appointment package on Friday. My SO was very excited to hear the news. I am planning to leave for Mexico on the 4th of October and return on the 13th with my SO, if all goes well.

The tentatave schedule is to drive to Juarez from Guadalajara on the 5th. Medical exam on Monday the 6th, Consulate the 7th, and hopefully drive back to Guadalajara on the 8th.

My SO suggested flying from Guadalajara to Juarez, but I like the flexibility of being able to schedule our return. Suppose there is a computer problem, form problem, etc. that does not get resolved until Friday, then it would be a problem if our return tickets were for Weds.

And on the other hand, if everything went well, and we could come back on Weds., it would stink to have to stay in Juarez until Thurs. or Fri., just because that was the date of our tickets.

My SO's family is planning a small fiesta for Saturday, then we plan on flying home Monday.

Well, that is the plan. We shall see.

    Brian

  20. Does anyone know how long it takes to become a US citizen? Is this when you receive the green card??? Reason I ask is because I know it takes about 1 year to bring a parent to the US after becoming a US citizen, I am just not sure when or how long it takes to become a US citizen. Anyone have any info on this?

After 3 yrs of having her Permanent Residency ("green card"), Diana will be able to apply for naturalization. If she were a regular Permanent Resident (as opposed to receiving her Permanent Residency through marrying you), then she'd have to wait 5 yrs. Here's some more info: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=313

  21. Hey, does anyone know what form we need to bring along to show additional support (e.g., a co-sponsor) under the affidavit of support? It seems to be EITHER the I-134, the I-864 or the Mexican OF-167 ....?

Also, is it strange that the consulate mailed my fiance's materials to ME in the USA, rather than her, in Mexico? This was a surprise to get in the mail!

    Thanks!

    --Dave

They don't require the I-134, but it's used most often at CDJ by members here. I-864 is for Adjustment of Status. The OF-167 is a list of things you can provide.

I ended up using the I-134 and having it notarized, but when my fiance went to his interview, they only asked for my employment letter, paystubs & tax info. He didn't end up showing the I-134.

Thanks for the info! The reason I ask about co-sponsor is that I consult, and as such, have month-to-month employment (or at most, a six month consulting contract). So, while I can show income, etc., I figure the co-sponsorship will add a dimension of assurance, if necessary...

    sound about right?

    thanks!

    --Dave

Right. If you make more than 125% over the poverty line if it's just you two that you'll be supporting, you'd need to make at least $17,500/yr. If you want the co-sponsor, you'll need him/her to make more than $22,000/yr if it's the 3 of you (at least, I think that's right - I wonder if the co-sponsor would just need to make over $17,500/yr since he/she'd be sponsoring just the immigrant and not the citizen... hmm, well, most people make more than either of those figures unless they're students, so I would just make sure the co-sponsor makes at least $22,000/yr). You'll need to provide tax transcripts for the past 3 yrs (or W2s & 1040s) and employment letters for you and the co-sponsor. Hope that makes sense!
