DesiGirlChicago got a reaction from VMM123 in Mumbai Consulate Interview - IR1/CR1
So we came to Mumbai for Medicals, BioMetric and Visa Interview and got stuck in the Covid. Luckily, our Medical and BioMetric were not effected as most of the offices are open in Mumbai. Consulate has cancelled 'most' of the interviews after 12 April to May end.
At his BioMetric my hubby met a guy whose interview was on 15th Apr and it was NOT impacted - reason ? He was qualified as 'emergency'. He was an F1 student and has 60 days limit to reach US to continue his course. An F1 can be considered an emergency but not us came as a setback to us.

Nevertheless, I visited the Consulate on my scheduled (but cancelled) appointment and requested to allow for an interview. It was futile and I will not suggest anyone as the guys who are at gates are tasked to dis-allow anyone whose name is not in the printed list they carry each morning.

We are at the last step now so the emotions are mixed up. We have earlier faced almost an year of forced separation and can still survive the 1-2 months of further delay. Am lucky to be with him now here in India and he is lucky to work from home for a good IT company.

Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting. We are utilizing this time to spend good time for family/relatives, plan for future and re-skill for the upcoming time so to have better and stable jobs in future.

Wish all of you a healthy time and to remain hopeful and smiling. Good time will come. Apna Time Aayega.

This is a very noble work and highly appreciated. Similarly keeping timelines on VJ itself helps a lot of people.

Unfortunately telegram link is not accessible from India for many. Can someone please post last few rows of the IL dates so we can get info about Jun/Jul/Aug/Sep DQs count with IL dates in coming March. Many thanks in advance.

Yeah...it will be really helpful if some more Sept DQ folks share their IL dates.

Also a request to all here. It will be helpful if people who have access to the Telegram sheet can paste data here so all of us who do not have access can see what the latest IL dates are for which DQs. Only that info is important for us, not entire history.

Congratulate @Sai Praneeth !! Looks like 02 Sep is the latest / farthest DQ date for someone in this group who has got their IL for. Wonderful progress since last month.

Hope to see more friends to share their dates of Jul/Aug/Sept. Our DQ is in early Oct so getting goosebumps :)

In the meanwhile, anyone else going through medicals / Interview please share your experiences, it gonna help a ton !!

    Hello All,
    Happy New Year!!

I checked that December Visa issuance for IR1/2 + CR1 is very similar to the count of November Visa issuance for IR1/2 + CR1. Around 340. This is great as Dec was a vacation heavy month. Am expecting much larger number now for Jan and beyond. Hope this backlog ends soon and we all get the ILs and visa asap.

Congratulation for whoever has got their ILs. Please share as much info you can to this group e.g. your DQ dates, Medical experience, Interview experiences et al... This group has been super helpful in guiding and easing the tense situations for all of us.

    Warm wishes !!

I am hopeful for an early backlog clearance of Citizen spouse cases because -

    a) The In and Out time will be highly reduced due to Covid fear. I read few interview experience recently, it is taking 5-15 mins only for interviews and less than 30 mins of total time spent in Consulate. The Mumbai Consulate has HUGE number of CO windows, so even if they are working 50% they will be clearing it fast. (Even my hubby was done with his Passport renewal and PCC in 15 mins recently in Jaipur. So expecting similar faster processing. I know they are totally different but still)
    b) The restrictions on Tourist / Work visa / Student Visas is going to help release the bandwidth to IR1/2/CR1/2 cases. This will be turbo boost.

It has been such a pain for the spouses to wait specially when they are in another country,  Covid numbers are increasing and economy is heavily impacted, hence praying everyday for a faster closure now for all of us.

Wow that's nice.. I guess India was under lockdown since March and US from April??? So it will not be more then 3 months long backlog....
Am hoping that for all the visas pending... about 20% will be of Immigrants...so not a very long backlog....🤞

    Hello Anynonmus,

Well that's a long time...recently a notice was posted on Mumbai site that the IV interviews have started from Sept 1...I will recommend please follow them up on email/ calls and ask their plans...it will not harm.

Please do share us your experience once they informs you about interview plans and how much backlog is expected. We all love transparency :)

    Hi,
I just did an analysis of the numbers we have from the Visa tracker spreadsheet listed in this forum (link) and the numbers coming from Consulate of approved visas (link).

For IR1/2-CR1 cases, number of approved Immigrant visas from Mumbai between August 2019 to Nov 2019 this is the month wise data from -
Aug - about 4; Sep - about 30; Oct - about 125 ; Nov - about 350. So for sure they have been increasing the capacity to interview a lot of people and hence giving appointment and visas to an increasing number of applicants who are already DQed.

From the Mumbai Visa Timeline spreadsheet folks who have got DQed till March 2020 (around 36) have got the interview appointment till Jan 2021. Below are the numbers of the applicants beyond March 2020 as per MVT list.

May be this can help us understand how much longer/shorter is our wait.
    a) MVT is a small subset of people going to consulate. May be it is about 1/10th.
    b) Dec can be a small number for immigrants visa due to holidays. We will know the count in late Jan2021.
    c) Last years numbers were about 800-1000 Immigrant visas per month (including IR5). That means at full strength, consulates can interview 1000 people per month at least.

Hence am guessing that if Covid is managed well and consulates work at full strength, by April 2021, all this backlog will disappear and we who are 'praying for interview date' can appear interviews by then.

I wish by Holi 2021 all this waiting pain gets over for all of us.

    Will love to get feedback.

    Hello,
Anyone from India waiting for interview post DQ ? I saw in the Telegram group that people done DQ in Jan Feb 2020 are scheduled for Nov 2020. This is going so slow. Mumbai consulate may be working with low staff count but when they have CR1/IR1 as highest priority why are they not calling a lot for the interview?

Requesting friends who are waiting for Mumbai Consulate interview to share their experience / waiting time please. This is so tiring at the last stage too.
