So this is like the only success since early Covid, and 1 fail.  Have there been no other attempts?  The wife and I travel and will likely be out of town for her appointment.  I was hoping to walk in wherever we are at the time.

You won’t know if you don’t try. I would think that the success rate has been greatly diminished due to Covid. You can barely go to ANY place of business without an appt. Personally, I’d still try. Be prepared with your reasoning though. They won’t be happy about it - but, whatever.

I haven't been on here in a long long time, but thought I would look at how SSA is doing with issuing K-1s SSNs.  Looks like almost seven years after I retired from SSA not much has changed.

Nope. Ugh. Horrible experience. No accountability whatsoever. I survived it though. Whew.

    Hey everyone!

Hope y'all had a great start into 2021. Congrats to the ones who have their interviews schedules or already completed.

I am a Houston filer and the processing time here is 15-29 months, so I need to practice my patience. But I am seeing that Oct 2019 filers are getting their interviews scheduled so there is some hope! In the meantime, I have sent renewal applications for EAD and AP on 2020-12-15 because mine expires in April. I just received two texts with case numbers, and looked up them up on the USCIS website:

On December 28, 2020, we received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, Receipt Number IOExxx, and mailed you a receipt notice or acceptance notice. It is being processed at our National Benefits Center location. The notice describes how we will process your case.

I am confused because the number doesn't start with MSC. Does anybody have any additional information on that?

Also, when I used my AP in October 2020, I got a stamp in my passport saying "Paroled until 10/25/2021". Does this mean I don't need a new AP before 10/2021 and that I can leave and re-enter the country even if they don't issue me another combo card?

IOE are the new numbers alpha numbers that are generated now, especially if you filled online. My sons EAD came with an IOE, while mine had MSC. I was told that as forms get filed online, paper ones are being converted to online and given an IOE. Hope that helps.

ps. I’m on day 349 with no scheduled appointment for GC. I’m in RI.

    Hang in there!

I got my interview appointment in the mail today for the end of November ☺️ I’m a RI filer, filed mid January and have been ready to be scheduled for interview since mid March. Hopefully the end is near (at least this part)

Mid-Jan RI filer too! Only been ready to schedule since June. I’ll be waiting a while. So happy for you, be sure to let us know how it goes!!

Oh boy they really don't play easy on you. That sucks so much. But yes, we'll hang in there and eventually we'll get done with all this because we're the most amazing January group ever 😊😊

Yes mine shows the same since the ready to be scheduled update.

Totally the best group on here. This group has seen me through my highest highs and lowest lows during this whole process. I am so done, and just ready for it to be over.

My PD is 2019-05-15, and the first time I got "we are ready to schedule your Form I485" message was last year September.

In July (2020), I received the same email as the one you've got.

And in less than 10 mins, another email was sent to me saying that "we are ready to schedule your Form I485."

My lawyer said that it could be either system error or USCIS employee error.

And until now I haven't got any updates yet.

I hope interview could be waived :)

    Fingers crossed you get waived!!

Might be another glitch in the system. Maybe you get lucky and get rescheduled soon for the never scheduled but canceled interview 😄

Nothing new about my case. 189 days since ready to schedule 😕

    Nooooo?

Ugh. Well it’s been almost 5 weeks and still no SSN for me. Lost my employment opportunity and I’m serious when I say - it was an amazing one. I’m absolutely gutted about it. I’m not a happy girl. 🙃

I’ll hang in there if you do 😉

    Also, my I-486 status shows:

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

    Does yours show the same?

  8. Just received an email stating:

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

On September 3, 2020, we cancelled or descheduled the interview scheduled for your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxxx

has anyone else received this? Is there a possibility that they’ll issue GC without an interview?

    thank you in advance.

The SSN field on Form I-9 can be left blank.

W-4 Withholding Certificate would be submitted later. That is why many payroll departments cannot issue paychecks until SSN is provided. So lack of SSN does not affect employment authorization, but can delay paycheck:

Interesting. i was going by this:

Employers must complete and sign Section 2 of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, within 3 business days of the date of hire of their employee (the hire date means the first day of work for pay). For example, if your employee began work for pay on Monday, you must complete Section 2 by Thursday of that week.”

Try calling a different social security office.  If you explain that you have a job that requires the SSN, they may be able to help.

Thank you. There is only one in my state. And anytime I’ve reached another they refer me back to my home SSA office.

  11. So, went into local SSA office in Jan. They said they could not produce a number cuz immigration would forward my request when my EAD was ready.

EAD was approved in July. They DID NOT forward my request from a SSN and I had to go back to my local SSA office.

I brought my passport, EAD card, marriage certificate. That was 2 weeks ago. They said it is still ‘pending verification’ from USCIS.

I have since lost the job I had lined up for not being able to produce a SSN. What more verification could they possibly need? I was there. In person. With original docs.

My Senate office has proven to be useless, as has the Manager at the SSA office. Claims there’s ‘nothing he can do’, but wait.

anyone else having the same issue I’m having? I literally have no one left to turn to!!

    *rant over*

    thank you

How long did it take before you guys get your SSN after getting your combo AP/EAD card?

Ugh. Don’t even get me started! My kids aged 13 & 10 received their SSN 3 days before the combo card. As for my SSN, it never got processed, despite requesting it on my EAD application and had to book an appt to go in. That was last Tuesday and a number still hasn’t been produced. I am so disappointed in the whole process.
