So I crossed the border 8 weeks ago, still haven’t received my ssn card yet. As I had already call in the last couple of weeks, I decided to call again this week. The women I talked to didn’t seem to case at all. Saying that I need to qualify for specific guideline in order to be given an appointment. I decided to tell her, you know what, can I speak to a supervisor. I talked with a supervisor which she was super nice and very helpful. She asked me to come in this morning and then she said that I should finally receive my ssn card within 7-10 days.

For everyone that just got their letters, congrats!

Now, step back, take a DEEEEEP breath.  It's all gonna be ok! ☺️

I know, it hits you because you've been waiting for forever to get the news, but everything will be ok!

You won't be able to register your appointment for a day or 2, so don't panic.  When you register for your passport return, you can change your delivery from Canada Post to courier up until a few days before your interview.

Please make sure you check the FAQ's for the items you need in your packet and interview.

And, I most sincerely hope the odds are in your favour - that medical appointments and flights cooperate and play nice for everyone to book (and arrive) without too many headaches or additional stress.

From what's currently being shared online, there's currently no enforceable quarantine requirement upon entering the US but the CDC does recommend a 7-day quarantine following international travel and the new executive order is asking people to follow these CDC guidelines. That's the extent of what's being shared as of today - it could change as the executive order has only come into effect today. You can read more here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2021/01/26/us-quarantine-international-arrivals-covid/

We both have been back and forth to US and Canada though mostly trips was around 2 weeks.
My last trip was in this month.
I always travel by air and never have any issue so far.
As other sugguested that one should have paperwork handy to prove strong ties in Canada when asked.

    Best of luck

"On January 26, 2021, we mailed your new card for your Form OS155A, Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Receipt Number IOEXXXXXXXXXX, to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your card by February 10, 2021..."
...apparently after sending the case inquiry message on the 23rd, the case was updated with "Your card is being produced..."

OHIP told you correctly about this situation.
In Ontario, one may be out of the province for up to 212 days in any 12-month period and still maintain Ontario health insurance coverage provided that you continue to make Ontario your primary place of residence.

In your case you are not relocating permanently to US in first step after US activating visa.

I am gonna differ on this answer.
Crossing the border and activating the visa doesn't make you a resident immediately. Atleast from an IRS perspective there is a whole time test which is designed to answer whether you are a resident. Ideally OHIP should also have such one, but in reality most of them do not.

If it helps you to put things in perspective :
    1. You can have a green card but still establish residency outside United States for less than 6 months every year.
    2. You can be a resident of two places (a whole tax obligation comes into the picture but YMMV) . In United States, you can be a resident of 2 states, if you pay the taxes of 2 states.

On a personal comparison note :
    1. I am a permanent resident of Canada (Landed Immigrant status) but have been inside Canada less than 60 days in last 2 years. I am deemed a resident of another country as of now.
    2. I took up residence in BC, stayed for 30 days, and went travelling for 6 months outside Canada. I was always considered a resident of BC and elgible under their Health Insurance plan because I did not have any other "residence "

Exactly. I confirmed with multiple border agents at the crossing I will use and they said it had to be manufacturer. Again like I said before it is completely up to the individual if they want to attempt this "hack" around the rules but you can and should expect to be denied without OEM installation. I needed a new vehicle anyways so I sold mine and purchased a 2016 Nissan rogue as it has every requirement to be imported (other than daytime headlights needing to be dimmed). There are 4 options I see for people with a non compliant car that the manufacturer does not install TPMS:

1 - Sell car and purchase one in the states if you need a new one
2 - Sell car and purchase a compliant car in Canada
3 - Attempt an aftermarket TPMS if you feel like its an acceptable risk to be denied
4 - Don't import car when you move as you have 1 year to either destroy the car or take it back across the border and sell it

All up to personal situation and preference as far as which option you choose.

Yes its definitely strange, especially since they continue to state on their website and emails that they are processing K1 visas.

ive contacted them to no avail. They just say they’re still processing K1. I honestly don’t know what else to do. I’m so close to giving up hope

It has been a long time since I visited VJ. A lot of pages to catch up.
Congratulations to everyone who got their visas and interview letters. I am so happy for all of you.

I am glad that MTL scheduled a limited no of interviews instead of shutting down under new restrictions.
The covid-19 cases in Quebec are dropping and hopefully they will resume their normal routine soon.

MTL must be reviewing K-1 files already sitting in consulate to prep “Packet 4” letter authorizing them to schedule an interview appointment.
This is normally sent after they returned forms and the checklist to the consulate as part of the “Packet 3” step.

At the same time, I believe MTL must be formulating a strategy to resume coordination with NVC to schedule spousal visa interviews.
I wish they can somehow speed up the process to clear back log like they did during rescheduling of cancelled spousal interviews.
