  1. GHOULASH aka 'American Chop Suey'

    1 lb ground beef

    1 can diced tomatoes

    1 can sliced mushrooms

    1 chopped onion

1 can tomato soup (or two ...depending on how 'soupy' you like it)

    diced green peppers

    a couple of tablespoons ketchup

    elbow or rotini (twirly) pasta

Brown beef, onions, peppers and mushrooms. drain. Add tomatoes, soup, ketchup. Season to taste ( I use black pepper and Mrs. Dash). Simmer 20 minutes. I usually serve with canned corn and dinner rolls or just plain bread and butter. Quick and easy and it's a family favourite. (even my picky children like it...so I sneak whole wheat pasta in to be healthier)

  2. The movie '7' scared me a bit, The part with the Sloth man creeped me out the most. I still can't look at a christmas tree air freshener and not think of that movie.

....Dead Calm, and Cape Fear upset me a bit.

Slasher movies never scared me....but the very first Friday the 13th was the closest....I had a hard time sleeping after that one.

  3. All those hokey haunting/possessed/demon movies never scared me...what scares me are things that 'really happen' and hit close to home. Like involving children or something...stalkery stuff....like Cape Fear (the Deniro version). That movie creeped me out as well as stuff like Dead Calm (Nicole Kidman). The psychological thrillers scare me more than blood and guts every time.

  4. STP....congrats! I'm so happy for you!

In other news, our July thread is locked so I took the liberty of starting the new one titled "ATTENTION JULY FILERS (2)". I hope you guys don't mind.

Jeraly, I hope you feel better soon .....I know you said you were ill....poor bunny *pats your head softly*

Soon we'll all be happy married folks.....a great feeling isn't it! It's like the reward after a marathon! I'm so happy for all of us.:dance:

  5. Thank you Captain Ewok for all you do for this forum!

Here you go folks....July filers, we shall post here to update...of course there's always our new posh beanbag forum we can always post in.

No news for us here...just waiting. Peter will be here April 14th so we need to settle on a wedding date. I hope all is well with everyone. Congrats on new approvals and weddings!

    Cheers!

  6. Lisa,

There are people here who really care about you and personally...I love reading your banter with folks here. PLEASE don't let this be the end of you posting here. We've 'bonded' with you via your posts and to not have you post anymore would be a loss for us too. Check in now and again so we know you are OK. I'm glad you are well and sure in your decisions. I wish you much happiness, and peace too. See you around okay!

  7. Congrats STP! I'm so happy for everyone getting their interviews! It's been quiet in here with everyone moving on to the 'action' stages and finishing the 'paper stages'.

Good luck to all interviewing. Best wishes to those who have married or will soon!

I'm a little distressed, Peter has his medical on Friday. I made him call the other day because he has yet to get his interview date. He spend a few pounds on the phone call just to learn they haven't assigned the date yet. SIGH. It will be nice if his is very soon as I have a week and half off work for Spring Break the middle of March. It would be a perfect time for us to elope. Otherwise I have to take off work and use my saved up sick time. ugh. I'm sure it will be fine. Just had to vent a bit....the wheels sure have turned slow in this process.

You can call the DOS and get the same info with only the cost of a long distance call! Have Peter save his money!!! US State Department: (202) 663-1225 - press 1, then 0.

StP - I'm adding you to our list!!! :)

Thanks for the advice...our interview is on April 1st!!!! Go figure!!! hahaha. why so long you think? Well..I guess it will give me time to do more 'nesting' with the new apartment.

Congrats to all approved and interviewed!

  8. Hey everyone, Peter had his medical today and it went smoothly. We also got our INTERVIEW date assigned....it's not til APRIL FIRST...is this an omen???? LOL. I just don't understand why it's so long til his interview when everyone else seems to be getting it a week or two within their medical. He put on the papers our wedding date was March 19. It's not FAIR! *pout* Does anyone know if there's anything we can do to change it ...I'm off work for ten days in the middle of March. grrrrrr.

  9. Congrats STP! I'm so happy for everyone getting their interviews! It's been quiet in here with everyone moving on to the 'action' stages and finishing the 'paper stages'.

Good luck to all interviewing. Best wishes to those who have married or will soon!

  10. I used to work in Oncology and Carnation Instant Breakfast was a popular choice...mix it with a scoop of ice cream to add some fat and calories, blend it up really smooth.....Ensure mixed with ice cream is tasty too. Ovaltine is a good choice for vitamins and chocolately taste and vitamins too. The trick is the ice cream to make it taste better. I hope she does okay...good luck with it. For protein grinding up nuts or adding a scoop of peanut butter makes a unique taste too (kind of like a liquid snickers).

  11. hopefully u wont get that sick again.....consider getting flu shot next yr, it offers some protection if not all...hope u feel better

Umm..... I did get a flu shot. This strain was a mutated strain not protected by the flu shot.

Hope you feel better too. I just was diagnosed with the Flu Type A today, after I had the flu shot too. I thought I was sore from moving and carting all those boxes...then I spiked a fever. Sigh....what a valentine's day huh?

On the good news front, Peter has his medical interview on the 29th, so hopefully he'll have his consular interview date sent soon. I have a week's holiday the week of March 17th, so we're hoping to get hitched then....we shall see.....

  12. Hey Debz.....congratz on your interview! I know it's late, I've been packing. I'm moving this weekend!

Aly....glad to have you in the states for a bit. Hope all goes smoothly while you're here. You two have fun.

I'll be off the radar a bit because of the move...to update everyone on our case: Peter is waiting for the army to send him his discharge papers (they failed to send them since December...they posted them the other day with a rush on it)...then he can finish his packet 3 and send it off. I'm still hoping for a March wedding even if it's a courthouse one. Everyone cross your fingers but don't hold your breath! All for now.

Congrats on any Noa2's I've been away for a bit! TTFN friends....I'll post more soon!

  13. Wow you guys have all your wedding plans made.....I cannot even decide where we are getting married. I guess I am afraid to make plans until he has visa in hand and we know a travel date. But after listening and reading all of your plans I guess I better get busy.:blush: .

    Cheryl

PS---Our interview is in 11 days....Pray we do not get any AP after and the visa will be in hand shortly after the interview. :innocent: Then I really will have to get busy on those wedding plans.:dance: I am sooooo nervous and worried....So pray everyone!!

    Cheryl

    Prayers your way !

I definitely relate to the hesitancy for wedding plans. Peter and I know where we WANT to get married, but we haven't set a date either. We thought the 08/08/08 would be unforgettable (literally), but don't want to wait that long.

We're hoping to tie the knot in gorgeous Golden Colorado at the Foothills Chapel and then skip over the Red Rocks amphtheatre for some awesome pictures. We're going to do just the family short n sweet wedding in one hour thing though and then blow the big bucks on a trip to Telluride or something since we can't leave the country. We may make it legal first in the courthouse close to home first.

Here's the website to our little venue http://www.foothillschapel.com/index.htm

  14. I just am glad it's Peter's turn to do some of the paperwork now. I'm tired of it. Although, now that it's his turn, I feel like I'm not in control of it, and feel somewhat amiss. I feel like I may be nagging him about it...perhaps that makes me a control freak. Better check myself on that before he gets here.

I like Jeraly's sparkles too.....but that advert thingie does sort of distract one from it doesn't it? hm.

  15. Congrats Jennybeni! So happy for you!!!!!

It looks like we'll be in a slight delay for Peter sending off his packet 3. He called the army place, and it seems they didn't send his papers when they should have. This was back on December 18th. So they are putting a 'rush' on it. We shall see. He got his blood drawn today for a chicken pox titer and they said the results would be ready in a week.

It's looking like our Spring break wedding will be a bust unless a miracle happens. If that's the case, we might as well wait until June too....I won't have any more holidays the rest of the school year unless I take time off work. I went on a little rant to Peter about his procrastinating things again....about him not following up on the papers sooner.....he got mad at me  ...I think we're both feeling the impending reality and a bit of stress  . Anyone else getting the little 'rumble of reality' feelings?

  16. STP, I bought my fiance a book called 'Fixin' to be Texan' a light hearted short book on quirks of the locals. It's funny and enlightens you to some of the 'inside' traditions. I grew up in Houston.....and one little tidbit, I'm from Humble (just north of Houston), if you ever visit there, they'll know you're from out of town if you pronounce the 'H'. It's just Umble. However, you DO say the 'H' in Houston.

Texas is not flat in all parts though, and it gets very cold in certain areas in the winter. Amarillo always has snow storms every winter. Big Bend is a gorgeous non-flat place to be. Tyler is beautiful, with the tall trees and famous for roses. San Antonio, San Marcos area are known as the 'hill country'...pretty, but not quite as lush as the rolling hills of England and Scotland I've found.

The people of Texas are what make it great though. We are friendly, but yes, we are loud and proud. But...we KNOW how to have fun! Oh..and Dallas has the BEST shopping in the Central time zone!

Can't wait to have you here with us STP! Hugs from Texas! :star:

  17. I sort of obsess about things until there done. I'm like a tornado. Little and big things get whooshed around until it's completed. Then I can relax completely. Peter was making fun of my I-129F packet all neat and tabulated and labeled and corners all matched up. I told him when he sends paperwork in it had better be just as neat and nice...I think I scared him. Good thing he still wants to marry me...lol.

I keep having to edit stuff....I'm ill..I can't think straight...I'm gonna go lie down! Bye!

  18. I wonder if he should send it in and take it on faith that his military papers will come in.....I told him to call somebody about them. I don't know who he'd call. I need to really just take some matches and some kindling and light a fire under his butt. That should do the trick. Here in Texas...we have cattle prods...he needs to fix this little procrastination problem of his before he moves here. I sure love that man though. :luv:(L)

  19. It would be nice if peter got his packet 3 this week too. We're still waiting on his military papers though. He ordered them more than 40 days ago though and not a peep. That would be the only thing holding us up though.

We could get married on St. Paddy's day...I'm off work that week and my kids will be with me that week. Just if he gets his interviews in time....and all goes well.

Well Alyson, I'm sure you will look lovely in your veil. I however....look 40. haha! I look more like mother of the bride rather than bride. If I can lose another stone before the wedding I'll feel a whole lot better....just hope I don't freak out again and buy another dress! ha!
