No need to wait just file the i-130 ASAP & then Once your i-130 is aproved will be  sent to the NVC ( National Visa Center)  & you will receive the Welcome Letter from NVC. At that point  you can contact the NVC via their messaging email system. You should send a note that  she now  has a New Passport with new married name & you are requesting that the "Visa Applicant Name"  needs to be updated / changed. You will upload a copy of the bio page of the new passport, a copy of your marriage Certificate & a copy of her old passport. That is exactly what we did & within a few days they processed the request & updated the name change in the system. From there we processed the Ds 260 Application with her new married name. All done via email & never talked with any one by phone or chat.. 

I was approved at NVC and wife was approved at her embassy interview.  Country is same as my profile.))

The interview went fine and the visa was approved with just returns (in fact, they didn't even ask for transcripts during the interview). Just in case I had with me all other documents proving income (W8, pay stubs, letter from employer) but they didn't ask for it.

Great...Ok Thanks... They may review as received but Final DQ will be issued upon completion & acceptance of all requirements by both Applicant & Petitioner. 

Good luck to you. I would be surprised if it wasn't accepted. You are proving your income and it's the same I-864. Your supporting info will show that the SSA income really is income, just in case the adjudicator doesn't understand which I think is unlikely.

Thank you for your reply. USCIS is part of the Homeland security Dept.& adjudicates Adjustment of Status cases in the USA & it has it's own rules & regulations. The  NVC & The Embassies are part of the Dept. of State & sometimes follow slightly different rules & Regulations but are essentially very similar. So I am hopeful my situation will be accepted.

Glad to read that you have personal experience for using Social Security  Income as a source of Current Income & that your Application & Visa was approved with the documentation that you sent. I have the exact same proofs available as well so will follow your advice. 

Excellent !! Then that gives me hope. So the SS Award Letter & Your military Pension were accepted by NVC on your 1st attempt or did you have to re-submit with explanation ? I have the Award Letter from SS & alsothe award letter from my Private Corp. Pension ( also a 1099 from them from last year)
