PatLuvO reacted to SteveInBostonI130 in Wait the 5 year bar instead of apply for waiver for k1?
Better use of the waiting time is to get married and file for a spousal visa. Then, after the bar, you can enter as IR1 and get a 10 yr GC.

This is an absolute and complete no. Engagement ceremonies cause K1’s to get kicked back, we call it “too married for K1”. You do this and you can expect to get married and start allllll over.
In 17 years here I’ve seen this happen many times. Usually Muslim countries because the couple wants to skirt the religious law to be together and still enjoy the faster K1 process. Our CO’s are full aware of the rules and laws that have to be navigated and they take the conservative approach and declare the couple “too married”.
Dont do it.

I've seen people lose their K1 as the officer decided they were married based on pictures or knowledge of a ceremony taking place even though no legal papers had been filed. Technically (I think), you are allowed a ceremony if it is not considered legally binding by your country but it is hella risky as I think they're more likely to treat it as meaning you're married than not.
I don't know if it's because america is still quite a religious country and therefore for a lot of people being married in frnt of God is still married regardless of how the government feels or if it's because a lot of countries would count that as legally binding but either way....it's a big risk.

PatLuvO reacted to dfmag in April 2022 - AOS Filers
Hi, everyone!
This morning I got a message from USCIS saying there has been action on my case, but when I checked everything was the same as before. I kept checking obsessively and 6 hours after I received that e-mail my i-485 status changed to approved!! 🎉
I'm so happy and relieved. My status has been the same since my biometrics appointment in May. I hope everyone that is still waiting gets to experience the relief I felt today very soon!!

First step is to gain actual residence in Sierra Leone. Without doing that, there is no second step.

Go to SSA today and before you get married to apply for your social security number.
Having that SSN in hand will make so much of your life easier.

Get your state ID or drivers license before day 30
Before getting married at the court house verify that you can get your marriage certificate in less than a week. If you can’t then get married in Vegas or do Utah zoom wedding.
The fact he plans to go Monday when it is a holiday suggests to me that there are problems with the planning. Do you have a marriage license? Generally you need a license some days before you can be married though Nevada is one exception

Based on the info you posted, the case is over. A withdrawal is irrevocable. I'm not sure why the case would be placed in AP.

PatLuvO reacted to Timona in Denied AOS petition, please help!
Could have just paid someone down in S.A to get it for you.
$5 greasing palms is all you needed. So, I'd suggest you go ahead and do it and reapply AOS. You cannot reopen this case. It's closed.

Request is one thing. Receiving is another. This request is unlikely to be granted, but no cost or harm in trying.

PatLuvO reacted to laylalex in Husband wants a divorce
If you love him, you will respect how he wants to live his life. It may hurt like nothing you've ever felt before, but letting him go is an act of love. Keeping him bound to you only serves to hurt you both.
Be kind. Wish him well and let him go. You will heal from this, and know that you were capable of putting the needs of someone you loved above your own. That's something to be very, very proud of. I hope you will find lightness in your heart soon. ❤️

PatLuvO reacted to Ontarkie in Husband wants a divorce
He doesn't want to come to the US. He's asked you to cancel the process. He wants a divorce and not continue with this relationship. Just follow his request to cancel the process, and get divorced.
It hurts, but sadly you not wanting a divorce will not stop him from getting one.
Do not lie to any part of the US government it will not end well for you. Which you would have to do and have him also lie in order to get a visa at this point.

The visa cannot be legally issued if you are divorced. Cancel the visa, Divorce, move on, and seek happiness for yourself. Good luck. This could a blessing in disguise.
