  1. Just wanted to say that Visajourney has been a big help with the whole process from start to finish of answering questions from K-1 forms to Citizenship. We are now done with the whole process except for the Oath Ceremony. So I want to wish everyone well in their journey of being together with the ones you love for a lifetime. Thanks VJ members for all your help. Good luck to all who are in the early process of filing. Take care. The end of our visajourney on here has ended.

  2. My husband has his citizenship interview and test Tuesday of this coming week. He still owes the IRS for Federal Taxes. He made a partial payment April 15th, but now we are waiting for the IRS to send letter so he can send the rest of what he owes. Should he tell the interviewer, if he is asked, that he still owes some? On the application, he marked he did not owe past due taxes. Which technically, it is not past due, they give you 120 days to pay first. Let me know anyone. Thanks

  3. We are filling out the form for US citizenship. On the line where it has Race, what does a Moroccan put? He is not white, African Am., Asian, Indian, etc. So what do you put? Pleaae let me know.

    We need to check something.

  4. My husband's sister wants to come visit us from Morocco. She would need a tourist visa, right? I think it is a B-2 visa. Can anyone tell me what she needs to do in order to come over here for a little while? I know she needs passport and medical exam, but what else is involved so I can tell her how to proceed in getting her visa. Thanks, I appreciate any input on this

  5. It is almost time to send the Lifting Conditions form and papers to immigration. Our 90 days are up July 21, so I will be sending the packet about July 23rd. That should be fine, right? Also, by sending proof of residence, like bills, bank statements, etc., they don't need 2 to 3 months worth, just one of each with both of our names on it?

Please let me hear back about this. I know we send tax forms for the 2 years he has been here and filed, and affadavits from friends, but I can't think of anything else. Oh yeah, I do have our recent trip to his country, itinerary and pics too. So let me hear back about this. Thanks.

  6. No you don't have to have that much in your bank account. That is crazy... You will need a police report from where you are living now, and maybe from where you used to live. This is only for information regarding you have not been in any trouble with the law. It could take awhile depending on immigration. Since you got your NOA notice, that is the first step...then when you go to the Embassy for your interview, make sure they understand how much you really want to be with your fiance. My husband is from Morocco which is different than your embassy. They did not believe him about our relationship and was going to send papers back to USCIS. So beware you could get papers stating you are not approved, but do everything you can if this happens to reassure them of the love between you two. Make every effort if this does happen to stop it from going back to USCIS. I did, I called the embassy, my senator over here and had people write letters of our relationship. He is now here as of 2 years ago and we are happily married. GOOD LUCK!!!!

    Hi All

I am the lucky guy who is getting sponsored by his fiance to move to the US. We sent in the I-129F approx 17th of Feb, received NOA1 on 30 March. Our application was just approved on 15th June. So now we wait for the next part.

    Now for the questions =)

I have seen posts regarding how much it costs, is it true you have to have $5k in your bank at the interview? Is this in my account or my fiance's?

What does the Police Certificate actually mean? Also I have not been at my current address very long, only this year, will that matter?

How long does the process take once the NOA2 is sent out? We have seen on the letter it is 2-4 weeks for the new case number then the interview times/dates?? Very confusing this process.

How flexible is the Embassy with the interview process? Reason is in my current job I am constantly travelling for work & I need to be working for the money.

The last & biggest question is, I am from New Zealand, however I have been in the UK for 6 years now. Will this affet our application? Esp as I have had a typical London life with moving flats every year.

  7. My husband and I are traveling back in December to visit his family. He came last year and we were married April 12th. Now we have his AP travel document to take with us, but since he is here in the USA, does he need a new passport with his new address (not a citizen yet) or is the one he got in Morocco ok to travel? I am assuming he does not need to renew his old passport, but any input will be greatly appreciated.

By the way, for those who get married over here, get your passports renewed ASAP after you are married and it will not cost you at all. I waited too late and had to pay the cost for a new one.

  8. When you file for lifting conditions, I know you must show proof of having a house together. My mortgage company says we might have to redo the mortgage and closing cost. Need to draw up new papers from the lawyer to show his name on the mortgage. Not sure if this is right or not. They did say to wait until he has good credit first, like for a year. But if I pass on first, he will get my house anyway. so why put his name on the mortgage.

Any input on this will be appreciated.

  9. The embassy caled my husband to return to the embassy to bring his passport?

They took his passport and gave him a green card/ paper and told him to wait until they called him????

    What does this mean???

Please help me and let me know what you think? Or if you know exactly what this means!

Thank you so much we are wondering what's going on and it's driving us crazy!!!!! :help:

This means VISA is on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be thankful and he will be with you soon. They will call him and tell him to come pick up visa in Casa. So this is GREAT NEWSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.:dance::dance:

  10.:dance::dance: My husband just received his green card after the interview of just one week ago with USCIS for the AOS papers. He received his "Welcome to the United States of America" document from immigration.

OH YESSSSSSSSS!!!! Finally........now on to getting his driver's license and the 2 year wait to apply for removal of conditions. Did you know you have another biometrics appointment for this too? Another $80.00 fee to be sent along with the cost of removing conditions. Why another biometric appointment???? Fingerprints and face don't change or do they?

Just sharing the good news and wish the best for those who are still waiting.

  11. We just got our travel document and i was wondering how long other people had to wait after that until they got their interview, or interview notice

Currently Average days for AP (NOA1 to approval) is 62 days...Average days for AOS is around 155 days..so a ballpark would be around 90+ days after AP is issued...

thanks, thats what i was loooking for

Hi, we filed for AOS, EAD, and AP at the same time. Got NOA's for all three the same date. We had our AOS interview which we were approved, some do not get picked for interview. We also asked about the AP document and was told to wait for green card before traveling. They do not stamp passports anymore. This is all you should need to know.

  12. Today, we went for our AOS interview at immigration office near my hometown. We waited and waited and finally got called in. The officer had all papers every sent to USCIS.........asked my husband some questions, asked how we met, is it romantic love, took papers like credit card receipt and bank statement with both of our names on it. Never wanted to see pics of wedding or any other stuff we brought.

Then he says we are approved and in 2 years we file to remove conditions. He said the green card will be coming in a few weeks and then my husband can get his driver's license then.

Thank goodness it is now over with for now.......

  13. He had medical before he came from Morocco, but before the AOS interview, they wanted him to have another medical.

Who told you that he needed to have another exam?

It was on the checklist of the NOA. It had a list of things you need to bring before coming to the interview.

    Hello

    Quick question:

    - when you received your notice for the AOS interview, did you also received a white piece of paper "Notice to the Applicant" .. if you ever been arrested or detained, bla, bla, bla ..? Are some parts of this notice (if you received) underlined? I received one and I'm trying to identify if this is a standard notice or is something specific related to my wife's case. She was never detained or arrested by she paid on speeding ticket on court.

    Please help

    Thanks

Looks like standard notice to all.

We received our NOA for the AOS papers. We now have an interview with our local USCIS office Oct. 21st. We had to have another medical exam done (cost $235.00). He had medical before he came from Morocco, but before the AOS interview, they wanted him to have another medical. There he was given TB test, blood taken for HIV and Syphillis. Then they will mail us the papers so we can take to the interview (sealed envelope).

Has anyone had this interview before? He still does not have his EAD card or his AP travel document yet. Maybe they will do it at interview.

Please give your input to this. Thanks.

Di you receive an RFE on you I-485? If you did, that suspended the I-765 until the RFE was responded to and the file resumed normal processing.

No we did not get an RFE at all. Just the NOA for the AOS interview

  14. We received our NOA for the AOS papers. We now have an interview with our local USCIS office Oct. 21st. We had to have another medical exam done (cost $235.00). 15. I have called USCIS several times. All they do is read what is in front of them, like a rehearsed message to everyone. Then when they do listen to me, they say we are still within the 6 months processing times. I am getting tired of listening to their speeches and they don't even hear what I am trying to tell them. How they got their positions there is beyond me.

So calling USCIS is a waste of time. All they see is when we filed, and that we have our receipt numbers for these forms.

So anymore suggestions would be appreciated. He can't get Driver's license without final papers.

  16. Unfortunately you need EAD/AOS to get drivers license if you never got your SSN before your I-94 expired. Many people here dont realized that if you are a K1 filers and when you arrive in the US, first thing you should get is your SSN. With that you can open a bank account, get a cellular phone contract, get a Drivers License/State ID, etc.. Once you get married though, you are out of status in the US, and SSA requires that you need status to apply for the number. I fortunately got my SSN on the day of our marriage, and that same day I lost my status in the US, even though my I-94 was not yet expired. The officer in SSN said I can still apply using my maiden name since my I-94 was not yet expired even though I was technically not allowed to get one since I just got married and have to apply using my maiden name and change to married name once I get either EAD or AOS.. whatever came first. I got my EAD about a month ago, and showed my EAD card to SSA office and they got me a letter stating that I "reapplied" for SSN and received a letter with my new SSN card under my married name...

Without SSN and a valid "status", one of them is an unexpired I-94 permit, EAD, Greencard, you cant get a Drivers License or State ID in the US..

We have all the proof needed for NC driver's license. He has SSN but for work only on it. His visa expired 90 days after coming to US and he has his own bank account. He still can't get DL because the visa expired. If he had gotten the DL before visa expired that would have only been good until then. After visa expires, then so does Driver's License. So now we wait.........

  17. We got married April 12th, mailed the AOS, EAD, and AP forms off on April 30th. Sent this certified to Chicago Lockbox where someone had to sign for it and send the receipt back to me. I went to the website for US Postal Service, and it was received in Chicago on May 2nd, but I have not received the receipt yet. Now what? Keep waiting and hopefully it will be sent? Is there a number to call in Chicago or what?

Then after they receive it, look it over, how long is the wait then green card, etc.? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would advise joining the May filers thread.

For the rest look at the timelines and at USCID processing times.

The receipt as in NOA takes around 2 weeks to get in.

I just got our NOA's for all three forms and the certified receipt. Now we wait for USCIS to send us our appointment for the biometrics. Wonder how long that will take?
