TracyTN got a reaction from meadowzephyr in After USA Wedding - how soon can she depart?
I agree - this job has made the K1 irrelevant for you. It was designed for those who wish to marry and then settle in the US immediately after. AP (advanced parole - read the K1 guide) is granted to allow the immigrant the opportunity to visit home or travel abroad for pleasure, etc. - not to basically leave and start a new job in another country.
If she has already been denied a tourist visa, chances are slim she'll get one just because she's married to a US citizen. In fact, it may hurt her chances as they would suspect her of having strong immigrant intent, and thus would not use the tourist visa for the intention it was issued. Sounds strange I know, but there it is.
There is no point in filing the I 129f. Marry and then when her job is done and you are both ready to settle here, follow the CR1/IR1 process.

Self professed knowledge is no excuse for bad manners.
It's really not a good idea to get immigration advice through private message. It's discouraged in most communities because of the level of error involved. It's far better to hash out questions in an open forum, where bad advice can be corrected by good.

Yes, you're right - eventually. Usually once they're in the US and with a green card in hand.
2 years is a walk in the park if your ultimate goal is to get out of your country and live in the US legally.
I know you think people are being mean to you, but you should really listen and look at your relationship for a minute without the rose colored glasses. Maybe those here are God's way of helping you see what you've otherwise refused to.

Please note that Nigeria is the number 1 scam country. It is very easy for a man to sweetalk someone online. It is easy to profess love, and say nice things, like you are my queen, I am ready to marry you, I can't live without you, etc. Please don't become another victim of an immigration scam. The fact that you were willing to petition for someone you have never met indicates that you may be gullible, no offense. I hope your belief in God and the fact that you were denied will help you be more cautious, and take it as a sign from god that you need to be careful, and not rush things with someone you have never met, especially from a country known for defrauding good intentioned americans.

Just happened by the thread and had some thoughts about how we could maybe help.
The idea of a pinned topic is a good one - maybe containing some 'real life' stories from those willing to tell it, lists of domestic abuse helplines/help centers and maybe a link to a list of VJers willing to help those in crisis, both broken down by geographical location in the US. Of course you may want to do this in a way to protect the confidential information of all involved, but I'm sure that could be done. I also like Harpa's suggestion of it maybe being in the General forum or something, since as we know, abuse really has no boundaries and then maybe localizing it to the regional forums for a bit more detail from 'cultural' perspectives.
It's a tricky situation really, and could be difficult to handle on a busy board like this. Difficult, but not impossible - and certainly worthy of the effort, though.

Awww Rachel - she is just as cute as she can be!!!! :) I'm sorry you're having such a hard time pumping - and I wish I had some advice to give you on that front. I do know from my friends who have done it that it's harder than most people think, so you should feel proud for having kept it up this long. I don't think there's any shame in supplementing, but that's just me.
I thought I had 'thread killed' the posts in here so I'm glad you replied. And with such cute pictures too :D I think pictures should be required of you new mommies so we can hit our cute out quotients for the day. Just an idea.
Thanks for the compliment about Emily. Let me just say that my least favorite part of the terrible twos is when you are sternly telling her off, she still thinks it's funny and that we're joking. The only way we can really get her to listen is to put our face in front of hers, hold her chin and make her look at us. Otherwise she thinks we're still playing. This is particularly frustrating when you're doing it after a bout of her slapping you in the face in 'play'. She is still in play mode but needs to understand that slapping people isn't fun for anyone but her. LOL.
She also can now get into the fridge, so we've had to put a lock on it. This after her daddy was doing laundry the other day and came back only to find her with an empty chocolate bar wrapper, chocolate on her face, and 'All done' from her tongue. Oh and a broken egg earlier in the day...
Where's Jewel? Wonder how she is feeling.

I did not, and I was well into the 'advanced maternal age' category when I conceived (39). My thinking was to come off the pill, try and pinpoint ovulation the next month and go from there. Hubby and I sort of had an agreement that if we tried for six months and did not conceive, we would re-evaluate. Mainly because of our age (he is 6 years older). I started taking both a prenatal vitamin and folic acid, and hubby took folic acid (supposed to help with 'swimmer' production).
I was always pretty regular with Aunt Flo throughout my adult years, even all those years on the pill - so I thought I could possibly be a fertile myrtle. LOL. Apparently this was true. I stopped the pill at the end of August 2009 and took my first and only positive pregnancy test on October 27, 2009. (Some dates are just emblazoned in your mind) I suspect I may have conceived sooner had hubby not been in England during my 'fertile time' in September...
All this to say - I guess if I were you, I would go it alone for a bit if you're sure you're ready. But if you had any 'female problems' in your younger years, it may not hurt to consult your doctor first. I mean obviously, it doesn't hurt to do that either way - but I guess what I'm saying is I wouldn't feel 'compelled' to unless I'd had issues in the past.
I hope that helps (and wasn't too much TMI, LOL)!

Yes, I believe that all people, no matter what kinds of imaginary sky beings they believe in or what the sex of their partner(s) is, should have the same basic human rights. I have no problem with polygamy among consenting adults.

You can slice and dice it anyway you want, fact is there is nothing to prove that homosexuality is a choice. I used to be in the same group you are in, thinking it was a choice, but as I grew older I thought better of it. I also came to the conclusion that what difference does it make either way? If it is a choice, so what, people have a right to make lifestyle choices. I really don't care what anyone dooes on a social level, as long as they are not harming anyone else. Who are you or I to tell them they can't?

Some behavior is genetic. Genetics plays as large a role in human behavior as environment. I will disagree with you till dooms day that homosexuality is a choice. It is most definitely not. They are born that way.

If it's not a choice, and something people simply ARE, then why are people so against it? Hating people for things beyond their control is ignorant, no matter how you put it. I happen to have brown hair. I didn't choose it, I was born that way, should people think negatively about me because of it? It's like hating people for trivial garbage like eye color or skin color.
Homophobia will never completely go away, just like racism hasn't. But there has to come a time where we realize, as a society, that we all have to look out for each other and stop hating each other for the most basic, insignificant reasons. Treat others the way you want them to treat you.
If you disagree with a lifestyle, that's perfectly within your right to do so. But don't actively hate or protest against a group of people who have done nothing to you, don't WANT to do anything to you, and just want to live their lives.

Anyone who thinks homosexuality is a choice needs to learn how to read objectively. There are many academic studies that provide incredibly strong evidence that homosexuality is not a choice. There are zero credible studies showing homosexuality to be a choice. Homosexuality exists throughout the animal kingdom, and humans are just one example. If you're arguing about nature versus choice in 2012, then you might as well be arguing against gravity.

Gay is not a race, it is a learned behavior that may or may not have certain genetic indicators that make individuals more likely to express this behavior. You can't unlearn the color of your skin.

There are two of their restaurants in our town. One inside the mall and one stand-alone on a major road.
As I drove past the big restaurant yesterday at about 5pm, there was one car in the parking lot.

    Exactly.
Interesting that when a Democratic elected official uses the bully pulpit (and not legislation) to condemn bad behavior, it's decried as an abuse of power. But when Republican officials actively legislated against women's health clinics being run by planned parenthood because of their own religious convictions, well that was just fine and dandy.

I don't get the support for the CEO expressing his opinion, but the boycott makes little sense either unless the company was discriminating against gay employees and/or customers.
As to why it doesn't make sense supporting the CEO by eating there - imagine if we were talking about a chain called, Akbar's Chicken, and the CEO, Akbar, openly expressed his opinion that 911 attack was the fault of U.S. presence in the M.E., would people eat at his place to show their support for his opinion, even if it were inflammatory and unpopular?
Or... suppose it was a chain called, Bubba's Chicken and the CEO said the Oklahoma City bombing was the fault of the ATF and its 'jack-booted thugs,' would people support him expressing his opinion by eating at his restaurant on a special day?
CEO's have a right to express their opinions, but people also have a right boycott the company that CEO represents, even if it's in response to his opinion about a controversial topic. Supporting the CEO for giving his opinion though seems misplaced, unproductive and only further divides the country. Those who want to eat there, should eat there, but they don't need make it into a political statement.
