    Hey guys;

I have a few questions regarding the form I-485, hopefully you'll be able to help me.

First at all, I entered the country under a B2-VISITOR visa in 2008, overstayed.

The passport that had that visa was lost. Many many many years ago I had gone to a bar and had many drinks and well, I lost it. I did not lose the I-94, back in the day they'd give you a small "card" so I had that saved at home. Anyways, I have the passport number, I however don't have the expiration date on that passport.

PART 1, question #17 asks  for that passport's expiration date, and of course I don't have it. I have just my current passport that I got a few years ago.

What should do there? Type my new current's passport expiration date?

And I know this will sound ridiculous but...

PART 7, question #1 I am Hispanic yes, but then PART 7, question #2 says "race", I don't know, am I white? lol I'm definitely none these others (Asian, Black, American Indian, Hawaiian)

PART 8, question #15, have you ever been denied a visa? The first time I applied for my B2, I was denied. Is that YES to that question?
PART 8, question #16, have you ever worked in the USA without authorization? Duh, I've been here for 14 years, many random jobs, got paid cash, personal checks, ect, is that a YES?
PART 8, question #17 have you ever violated the terms or conditions of your non-immigrant status?  I mean, I'm an overstay, is that a YES?
PART 8, question #78 have you ever renounced US citizenship to avoid being taxed by the united states? I don't even have a green card yet, is that a NO?
PART 9 question #1 are you requesting an accommodation because of your disabilities or impairments? I'm not disabled or impaired, is that a NO?

I know these are silly questions but I'm trying to see how people in the same boat have answered these questions.

I got the "Approved" and "Card is being produced" updates however I never got the updates "your card has been picked up by USPS".
Only update after "Card is being produced" was the "Card was delivered by the post office" weeks after I had card in hand

If you applied for the SSN via the I-765 then it seems they are processed and created from a central SSO in Baltimore, MD. When I contacted my local office they had no record of the application, USCIS did.
My SSN that way two 4 weeks to process, 2 days to arrive. This was just before COVID.

I will never understand how people cannot separate geography and locality.
Can I ask what make you think nationalism ever went away unless you think it was politically correct to think so? It never has. People may kid themselves but take a look at every WorldCup, Olympics etc. Locality matters. Do you find that wrong?
I am also proud of what I have personally achieved, however, I also have respect for what my parents, grandparents and other from my country have achieved. Whatever people try to portray. Our country is still a great country, has a huge amount to give to the global family fo the better. We do not have to be "part" of a larger mass to achieve that.
My view our individuality is what make peoples so valuable in the big melting pot - Don't chip away at that.

I feel like this is kind of a debate over semantics here. What people commonly say is not neccesarily indicative of what is factually correct...(as any frequent VJ user can testify!)

If I'm asked to describe what I am, I say I'm English and that I'm from England...but that doesn't negate me also being European and from Europe...or from being a human and from planet earth. We're not limited to how wide we want to branch...but geographically, yes, I'm from the East Midlands, in England, in Great Britain, in Europe (and so on and so forth).

Sorry @Pooley, this conversation has gone way off route. Good luck to you and your husband.

Two sides of a coin here.
I too am English, born and raised, as were my parents, grandparents,  great grandparents, I have never referred to myself as European or seen myself as European.

I see the Union Jack, like me. Stiff upper lip and all that.
I am not sure what the rules are on volunteer works without an EAD but now might be a great time to give back, even simple things like giving blood. I am sure the karma will return for you.

jmn1012 got a reaction from EnglishLove in Super frustrated with EAD expedite
Did you not have a receipt number issue as well? Your receipt number was not your actual receipt number which was crazy!!
My EAD took 107 days to arrive, in hand without an expedite. Granted the SSN took 4 weeks after that to arrive, however they arrived. I am just thinking that with the amount of activity we are seeing with EAD expedites, you may also be dealing with that. It seems everyone needs an expedite these days. Stay strong. With the current climate I can only see more delays.
I do totally agree with you that what tier 1 agent you get make a huge impact. I have hung up and call back in the past to get more info.

Hi, Yes. was a real human being. Wasn't a smart human but a real one. Dialed the 800 number above. Once answered pressed 1122, then entered my receipt number and press 1 to confirm receipt number. Tells you that all calls will be answered in order and then a wait time........

I had a Flu shot in the UK not long ago. As it was not on my vaccination record I had to have another one as it was in flu season.
As the reply states, get the shot or wait 4 weeks. Rules are the rules.
Medical insurance may cover it if cost is the issue.

The combo card automatically issues a SS number. It should be about 2-4 weeks to get a number.

I may have missed this answer but has your case status moved passed "Approved" to "Card Being Produced"? The case update system can be very bad but if not it may be worth calling and speaking to a Tier 2 officer asking why.

You case should move to "card being produced", then to the status "your card was mailed to you". Once you have the "Mailed" status You should have it 2 to 3 days. They are sent out USPS Priority Mail

jmn1012 reacted to Penguin_ie in Negative attitudes in the forum
I wanted to address the negative attitudes we have seen on the rise recently in the upper/ immigration forums towards those who ask beginner/ simple questions, or have unusually fast or slow VisaJourneys.

First, there is a tone difference between the Progress forums- which are mostly for support and cheerleading, and the Info forums, which are mostly to have questions answered.   While all our forums are supposed to be welcoming to all and friendly, this is especially important in the Progress forums, which are not to discuss politics, or be negative towards  those fortunate to have their case dealt with quickly, or  critical of those who voice sadness about their own slow progress. These forums are there to uplift eachother!

Secondly- in the info forums, you may get bad news.  When a question is asked, our members are encouraged to answer truthfully, even if this may not be what the Op wants to hear, because it is important to be informed.  However, the emphasis is still on being welcoming and friendly.  If you need to give bad news, do so gently, and stick to facts; constructive criticism of the Op's plans ARE allowed, but the emphasis is on constructive.  No need to dwell on mistakes (or tell members they should be on 90 Day Fiance- that is a personal attack and automatic suspension), or  illegal actions in the past- instead, encourage and explain legal options for the future.  And ONLY legal options- as per our TOS, VJ does not support, condone or encourage illegal (immigration) actions, and such posts will be removed.

Ultimately, we are here to help all members, old and new, easy cases and complicated, those who write a fact filled bullet point post and those who are panicking and don't make much sense in their first post. Yes, sometimes questions can be easily googled, or answered via a search of our forums.  But if you feel that way, just scroll past- no need to criticise the OP for asking the question.

Was just checking that the SSN was applied for. I am sure when I went thru my forms there was a tick the box to apply for a SSN to be issued at the same time or you will need to visit social security
