Hi, I applied and was denied a few weeks ago. I believe it took around 10 days total to get the response.

I had applied as wanting to go to a funeral for an aunt and was advised it didn't fit the immediate family description. I was also only going for a week and I have since been told by travel agency etc that the approvals are mainly given for people who are going longer term, almost the entire 90 days allowed on the ESTA waiver. This could have had an impact also.

I booked in with Delta. It's one of the few airlines that is actively working to provide covid-safe conditions - as far as that's possible on a plane. I'll be flying from Sydney to LAX and then onto JFK later this month.

My wife had her medical done in Sydney on the same date as her interview (March 16).  It took two days as well for the doctor to send the medical to the consulate and her visa was approved on March 28, Visa received in hand on March 29 (sent to Melbourne).  Plan for her to fly this coming Monday on American (April 5).

We've also flown a number of times on United and never had any bad experiences especially during the past year.  I've flown to/from Australia twice during the past year and never had an issue with United.  Landing in SFO and LAX.

Australian travel exemptions came within 24 hours for her (Australian citizen) as well as me (US Citizen) to enter the country using their new online system.

The embassy will normally schedule on your behalf, I didn't create an account for that. NVC, USCIS and US consulate has plenty of information on steps about an application.

nvcexpedite@state.gov.  include the following information to NVC as part of your NVC expedite request:
NVC case numer in the subject line and body of the email. “Request for NVC Expedite” in the subject line and body of the email. Applicant’s (beneficiaries) full name and date of birth. Two telephone numbers in which to contact the beneficiary. Many times, NVC usually asks for these numbers as part of the request process. Save time by providing them as part of the initial request. Petitioner’s full name and date of birth. Summarize the reasons for the NVC expedite request. Provide as attachments any evidence supporting the NVC expedite request.  For example, evidence may include a doctor’s letter or other evidence that supports the reason for the request.
