Wintime,
Was your wife given any sheets of paper after the interview? If she wasn't, then that is a good sign. Some embassy's do not tell the applicant whether they are approved or not on the day. 4-5 weeks is a long time but it may be normal for your embassy. You might want to check the regional forum for the embassy and ask if this is a normal response to the interview.
I hope for a speedy, positive resolution for you
As for any paper given to my wife, no they did not give her any paper,
I tried calling them last night [morning time over there] but again no luck,
I hope too it will be nice ending to this long story,
Thank you so much C & J for your support.

Divine and C & J,
Thanks for asking, and caring,
Well, here is the update...
My wife went to the interview 15 before the interview, waited for about an hour and then got her turn to the pre-interviewer where she asked her for the documents and some general questions like what do you do? what do you study? are you going to take money with you?...etc then asked her for the fee receipt, she told the lady that she hasn't pay the money yet and that we thought it's after the interview or at the embassy, but informed her to go out and try her best to make to the bank to deposit the amount then come back to go to the real interviewer, so my wife run and did just that, and when her turn came in for the interview, it only took 10 to 15 minutes and everything went fine, until the last question, which was when was the last time you saw your husband (we haven't seen each other for over two years) she said 06 in error then quickly said "no 2005", then they said nothing and they asked my wife to wait, and half hour later they called her to the first window where she had her pre-interview and the lady told her we need 4 to 5 weeks, and you have 2 options either to give you an appointment for 4 to 5 weeks from now or we can send you the passport through express mail, my wife picked the second option since she lives in a different city, but my wife wants to know what was the result for the interview, they give her no answer beside little smile and saying I don't know but hopefully you are ok.
What is that? I called the embassy to see what this mean, could not get hold of any body, took the day off just to keep calling today and I will call then again in 2 hours from now.
I don't understand this, if we got the visa it should be given to us the same day or the following day, not 4 to 5 weeks, and if we are not to get the visa why don't they tell us that.
I hope everything is ok, I am about to go crazy right now, and I think I am going to go off on them over the phone
-
WaaaaaW.... Urge ... you were missed here, and really sorry for your far interview... but you know what, why not take a vacation like from first or second week of April and go to your wife have the interview togather and then came back... this will make your meeting with your wife a bit closer.
..............Update on my case, finaly when I had my wife go to give the forms in person to the Embassy they right a way gave her appt. date for the interview.. it will be on Tuesday 12th of Feb. that's just one week... how that happen I don't know... we are nervous about it but I can't wait for that day.
-
edp333,
congratulations
For the approval... you must be going crazy now...
C & J
congratulations
again for your approval and for the passport on hand... really happy for you
About my self, something unexpected happen to my case, I will let you know in another post very soooooon.
-
Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement
I am approved
However, the lady did say something about taking a couple of days to be 100% approved (after they do a few last things) but I had all the paperwork that they required, paid for the visa and also paid for the delivery of my passport back to me. No RFE, nothing missing and it was so much easier than I imagined.
People really are right when they say it is an anti-climax for the UK interview. All being well, I will have my passport back with the visa in it within 5 working days
Good luck to everyone else still waiting
I'll be doing an interview write-up either this evening or tomorrow
C & J ...
Congratulations
.. I am so happy for you, you helped a lot people with your quick and great answers, we will never forget you, and G & A, and Urge
Wish all the happiness in your new life
-
Fantastic C and J, congratulations.!!
YAYYYYYYYYYY C&J!!! Congrats!!
I called the NVC for the heck of it yesterday and found out they rec'd my I129F on 1/28 and already shipped it to the embassy on 1/30! I've been tracking it on the DHL site, it's in Belgium right now.. next stop... LAGOS!
Does anyone know if it is absolutely necessary to have my husband take the NOA2 AND a letter from the NVC to pick up packet 3 or is it ok if he shows up with just the NOA2 (which I got in the mail on 1/31)?
I had this issue with my wife going to pick packet# 3 and I called the embassy and asked this question they told me they need the NVC letter not the NOA2, NOA2 may be needed later at the interview as they go over the documents routinely.

So much movement in this thread
Congrats YGandMAT on the interview date
That interview is fast approaching, EDP333
Congrats on the final interview date John and Wendy
Welcome to the thread socalwaiter
And you know my thoughts will be with you on your appointment, Gogo
My interview is tomorrow (Friday) morning... I am so nervous at this point, I hope I don't have to do anything too complicated at work today because my mind is definitely not here atm
I did my final check on all my paperwork and am happy that I have everything I need now (even though I'll probably end up rechecking a few times before the interview
)
C & J
Don't be nervous!, calm down, be firm and think positive, make your answers short but enough to stop any follow up questions, and don't give more than needed, and I wish all the luck, and hopefully you will come with the wide smile on your face and a feeling that you want to fly like a bird and swim like a fish.

PLEASE ...PLEASE ...PLEASE ... I NEED HELP ASAP
I have decided to have my wife go in person to embassy and get packet # 3 and fill out everything there and hand them back in a few days in person too,
But is handing them the filled forms in person a good idea? or not?
Also do we give the DS-156 with packet # 3 or at the time of interview?
and is it ture to make two copies of DS-156 and staple a photo to each?
please help...ASAP
Thanks a lot in advance for your help
-
Congratulations Gwen, it's great to hear your case is moving forwards againA quick quesion to every one, in my I-129F it says valid from xx/xx/07 to mid of Marsh, does this date mean anything? and what if with our process through the embassy we haven't finsh untill that date?
Please help..
All the K3s are valid for the same time frame. The consulates/embassy's routinely extend the validity of the approval if your journey hasn't completed
No need to worry
C & J
Thank you so much for the quick answer, I searched in the net, and I got conflicting answers, but I think I need to stop worring, but it's just that the Embassy is playing around with my head, keeps saying we sent you the packet # 3 and I haven't receive anything nor my wife, and my case has been with them for more than a month.

What happend to all of you, no news no helping, this page went to dark
wake up everybody, it's not the end of the world for those still on the process,
and for those who got their visa or interview, come on share the knowlage let's help each other.
for me still I can't get the packet # 3, I even send email to the embassy to give my wife appointment so that she can travel to the city where the embassy is, but no lock they just ignore me, I am trying to write a letter to my Senator and see if they can help
So I hope to hear good news from everybody specailly Urge, C & J and G & A
Hello Wintime, we are still here hanging around!!! I'm in the same boat as you...NO APPOITMENT YET. The people are the embassy are useless, they are worse than USCIS and they give zero information and they also misinform you. So all we have to do know is sit tight...we are almost at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there, you will see the light soon.
YGandMAT,
You right they are a lot worse then USCIS staff, at least we know USCIS have a lot of cases and they have to check your case and process it through so many steps, but the Embassy is just playing slow, and that allways happen when there is no consequences or somebody watching their work, what to say
pechez,
Your welcome, although I don't think I did any thing to help to put me among those giant helpers Urge, C & J, YGandMat and gogo.
Also I am glad to hear that your case is progressing, it seems that the folks in US embassy over in Philippine are organized.
Urge,
Please come out of your Cocoon and tell us where your case is, I hope everything is fine my friend, we missed your comments and your chart, please don't let this thing get to you, I hope your case is prograssing and you getting a good news and that you only busy with life.
C & J
I hope you will get a warm welcome in US by going to the south or any hot part of US, because let me tell you it is freaking cold in here
, better be ready.
.......hang in there everybody after winter is the beautiful spring

Have any one here who got packet# 3 got any paper titled with the following:
"Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants"
Becuase this above wording doesn't match other paper work image that was posted here in Vjers, the images I saw here in Vjers was titled
"Additional instructions for obtaining a nonimmigrant visa to marry and reside in the United State"
And another image aslo here in Vjers said
"Visa Instructions for Fiance Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants"
Also does any one know that the embassy goes into two steps with the K3 process, what the embassy staff have told me over the phone is that packet # 3 have the following
Step 1
- DS-230 part I
- DS-2001 "Notification of Applicant Readiness"
- Requst for Poice Certificate
...then submit the above
Step 2
- Embasy will send a medical exam request + maybe interview letter
- My wife do the medical exam and submit that or take it with her to the interview
- Go to the interview
I am really lost, the workding don't seem to be for K3, yet when I asked them they told me that it's the same, where is DS-156k and DS-156 then!
Does anyone who got packet # 3 or got to the interview stage got the above scenario or the sequence of steps
Thank you in advane for your help

if you got any of the above wording or different please post, and if you got the last form.
I would have a guess that you might have received the CR1/IR1 interview packet, but this could just be wording specific to your embassy. Hopefully someone else can shed a bit of light on it.
Thanks C & J

Question: is AP needed for K3 Visa holder?
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
Posted · Edited by wintime
My wife came to US under K3 visa, so does she need AP to travel out of US?
All the posts I see here is saying that AP is needed, however all of them were based on K1 visa, on the other hand I read on the I-485 AOS application instruction the following (check the exception for K3)
Travel outside the United States for adjustment-of-status applicants under sections 209 and 245
of the Act, and Registry applicants under section 249 of the Act.
Your departure from the United States (including brief visits to Canada or Mexico) constitutes an abandonment of your adjustment-of-status application, unless you are granted permission to depart and you are inspected upon your return to the United States. Such permission to travel is called "advance parole." To request advance parole, you must file Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, with the appropriate fee at the USCIS office where you applied for adjustment of status.
1. Exceptions.
a. H, L, V, or K3/K4 nonimmigrant:
If you are an H, L, V, or K3/K4 nonimmigrant who continues to maintain his or her status, you may travel on a valid H, L, V or K3/K4 visa without obtaining
advance parole.
b. Refugees and Asylees:
If you are applying for adjustment of status one year after you were admitted as a refugee or one year after you were granted asylum, you may travel outside the United States on your valid refugee travel document, if you have one, without the need to obtain advance parole
Thanks in advance for any help!
