Here is what is not in dispute: 4% of the population (the United States of America), has 40% of the cases.

All of this dithering about waiting for the science to be settled, or it's just like the flu, or testing  or your infringement on my body with a mask is unconstitutional is just garbage. People are dying from that troglodyte thinking.
When you have a medical condition, you follow the best medical advice you can get at that time while the research continues.  You don't wait for everyone to pass waiting for the final result.

Yes, it is a position paper from a union that really doesn’t care about actually educating children.  What else is new.

It might have changed on Thursday. The July 16th executive order now states that indoor businesses in Colorado must refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask.

he is a moron. my wife works in a nursing home. every employee got tested last week... 2 positive, both were asymptomatic. this is why masks should be mandatory. they have switched from surgical masks and gloves to n95 masks and goggles. she is also required to wear mask when we go anywhere outside of work regardless of whether that idiot abbot requires them or not. fortunately he has required them for now and is letting local jurisdictions set penalties if they feel it is necessary.

side note, because of non mask wearing ignorant scumbags, my best friend is dying of covid. he has been very vigilant about only going out when necessary and wears a mask at all times. he is also immunocompromised. so any dirtbags want to pawn their ignorant freedumb but mah rahts garbage can suck on a tailpipe.

See the whole thing, but I transcribed the parts I found relevant, it starts at 2:30.

All it takes is one catalyst to wake people up, and if you wonder why the left are trying to burn history books and such, it's because people with any semblance of reason and understanding of history know their tactics are the very thing people of freedom and conscience reject.

I guess I'm trying to figure out why we should be talking about something unrelated to the passing of a great man in a thread to mark his passing. The only thing in common is that Lewis was black, and the quotes are about black men killing other black men.

That's John Lewis, age 25, in the foreground, being beaten by a state trooper in Selma, Alabama on Bloody Sunday. He was standing up for American citizens' right to vote and for that his skull was fractured by a law enforcement office. I know we are not meant to have heroes, but this man's bravery was one part of the country's struggle for us all to be free.

I read the UTLA report. It doesn't say that the schools will not be reopened unless charter schools are abolished, police are defunded, Medicare for All is implemented, the federal government bails out the LAUSD or that the wealthy must be taxed more. It's a position paper from a union making these "demands," quite clearly. Sloppy reporting.

Oh no, not at all... I am just stating this (and apologies if I were not clear):
Rather than bicker over politics, we should be more concerned about inequality, as that affect us all the same.

As for Bezos, most tend to think about him as "super rich..." when whatever he has is only a drop in the ocean of what the very small number of super rich have.

It's useless for us to bicker when we have more in common between each other than what we could have in common with those really making the decisions.

I guess I was not clear in my initial comment. In a nutshell: pointless to bicker over politics (dems better than reps, reps better than dems sort of thing), let's address inequality.

John Lewis is a towering figure in the civil rights movement as a Freedom Rider. It's also bizarre to talk about rioting and looting in the same breath as Lewis, who was a proponent of nonviolent protest. What he endured on the Edmund Pettus Bridge to fight for the rights of all Americans was true sacrifice. I do not know how anyone could look at his biography and say he's "no different."

There's an actual answer as to the execution of these "proclamations" in the article I cited, not just the language, which can easily stand on its own, but the ridiculously excessive bias and targeted methods of enforcement which demonstrate the bad faith malicious nature of these "proclamations". Clearly some are doing their best to overstep their bounds as a test of how far they can go, but it's also serving as a nice distraction from other areas of incompetence related to health.

When the Whitehouse says "don't let the science stand in the way" they are literally saying the political and social outcomes from our perspective, outweigh what doctors and scientific data show.

The Whitehouse is politicizing the issue, mostly to try to cover-up how this has been mismanaged by the Whitehouse.

The attacks on Dr Fauci the last two weeks make this clear.

90DayFinancier got a reaction from laylalex in Georgia congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis dies at age 80
Rep. John Lewis of Georgia died late Friday at the age of 80, according to multiple reports. Lewis was a decorated US civil rights icon. He was the last surviving speaker of the March on Washington and one of the original Freedom Riders. He rose to national prominence after leading more than 600 peaceful demonstrators across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Alabama on "Bloody Sunday." Lewis served in the House of Representatives since 1987 and was one of the most progressive lawmakers to represent a southern district. Throughout his tenure, he developed a reputation for stirring up what he referred to as "good trouble." Following his death, activists, lawmakers, and other prominent figures paid tribute to Lewis, describing him as "a giant" and the "conscience of the nation." https://www.businessinsider.com/rep-john-lewis-has-died-2020-7?amp

Almost four months after the suspension of routine visa services worldwide in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Department of State will gradually resume the issuance of visas at U.S. embassies and consulates.
The Department announced the resumption of routine consular services in each diplomatic mission depending on the health conditions of the country in which it is located, in order to ensure the safety of its workforce in American embassies and consulates around the world.
“As global conditions evolve, U.S. embassies and consulates are beginning a phased resumption of routine visa services,” the agency said in a news release Tuesday, noting that the reopening “will occur on a post-by-post basis.
