Hey guys, I’ve been trying since Friday to talk to someone at USCIS, but the computer won’t put me through. I’ve gotten through before so I don’t understand why she won’t transfer me to an actual person?? Does anybody know any way to make her transfer me?

I called them and told them that their website says they transfer to make things faster. The girl on the other end kept giving me a generic reply like "it's being processed and you will get a notification". I said yes but it could take a year or more, while similar petitions in other service centers are taking 6 months. Why do I have to wait 7-8 months more to have my petition reviewed. Why did my case transfer from a low wait center to a long wait center. At least give me a reason. They don't have a reason, it's just random. Making someone wait an extra 9-10 months makes no sense. This stuff can be adjudicated within 2-3 months.
People in Canada started protesting wait times of a year and the immigration Minister expedited spousal visas. Until we get some kind of push from the people, they will continue down this path. I hate that some people here think it's okay to wait that long. They just say "just wait, it's normal processing".
NO! It's not lol. Stop making it seem like it's normal and they are working tirelessly. Its policies that can be changed
It’s hard and depressing to be separated for this long. I can’t imagine how we’ll feel if it takes 2 years. Maybe things will change after the election. Don’t mean to bring up politics but 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

How is a transferred petition an 'error?' Transfers happen all the time. No one is entitled to have their petition adjudicated at any particular center.
I’m not saying I should get to choose. But I am saying they should tell us. Every time I call it’s different and we were hopeful for an approval soon based on what they told me. And now we’re at Vermont? It isn’t fair and no I’m not saying this process is fair but come on.

They transfer cases to other centers because they want to make things faster. It says it on the USCIS website. If a transfer to a much slower center happens, someone should question it. USCIS needs to held accountable for their inefficiencies and people should protest. Right now, a lot of the stuff they do doesn't make sense.
Right so the only thing I can try is the expedite for now. It’s crazy to move us from Nebraska to Texas than Vermont with the longest wait times. And it says on their site they will mail or update uscis account if they do that. I haven’t received a word from them. My husband is in England this shouldn’t have taken so long.

You’re lucky they took your call given you’ve only been processing for 6 month.
You’ve no say about which center processes your petition or it’s being moved, secondly I dot think they are legally obligated to tell you they moved it, they’re really only obligated to process it and advise you of the outcome... plus they’re notoriously slow with mailing stuff and updating online case statuses. doubt the Expidite will work, god luck regardless
If they weren’t obligated why would they say that they’ll mail you to inform you of transfers???

Is that the "error" on which you are basing an expedite? How would a notification have changed anything at all? How were you harmed by not receiving a notification? I just don't understand how that fits the criteria. It is possible that the Tier 1 rep was mistaken.
BTW: Our case was transferred from one USCIS SC to another. It didn't delay processing.....good luck.
Yes that is the error I am basing it on. Why wouldn’t it affect our case? The processing times are drastically different. Do the times not change when it’s transferred? We went from 7 months to 22 months based on the timetable. Is it not a USCIS error if they didn’t notify us? Or you’re saying it probably doesn’t matter. Thanks 😊

I have an account but it doesn’t say which service center we are at.
-
I understand that. But they moved my case twice without sending an email or letter. It says on their website that they will inform us.
-
Hey guys, we filed 3/29/2020, our letter says Nebraska service center when I called a few months later they said Texas and a couple weeks later Texas again. Yesterday I called and she said Vermont. I didn’t get any notifications about all the moving of our case. I submitted an expedite request based on uscis error. Does anyone have experience with this? We are heartbroken because if it was at Texas we would’ve gotten our approval soon but at Vermont we’ll be waiting a long time. This is so hard as I’m sure you all know. Any advice? Suggestions.

Why do you say the marriage was not valid in Egypt? , rather he had a Revocable or Irrevocable divorce in Egypt, you are married in Egypt.
Under Egyptian law, your married there, but NOT considered married under US Law, as he needs a Irrevocable.
Hope all works out for you on this very soon.
I meant it’s not valid for use in USA or England. He’s been talking to friends that have had the same problem and he will get a lawyer to make his divorce irrevocable and we can still use our marriage to apply for the visa. Thanks everyone

My question was to Cathi..
ANYWAYS....................
Regardless, you husband needs a IRREVOCABLE Divorce paper, its all USCIS will accept.
He may need to divorce her again, this time WITH AN IRREVOCABLE, He can do it in a couple of hours at the Ministry of Justice, without the ex wife present, that is how my EX did ours. Divorce, then marry you again.
Sorry, it’s been awhile since I’ve been on a forum. He can’t go back to egypt but his embassy ensures him it will be an irrevocable divorce.
15 minutes ago, designguy said:How are you going to get married again as you just got married 2 weeks ago?
Because the marriage in egypt wasn’t valid and won’t be recognized. He will get his final divorce and England courts told us that we can get married after they register this divorce.

Did your divorce take place in the US?
My divorce was in USA. His was in egypt but not final. He has an appointment with egypt embassy in London to get it finalized. His ex will go with so there’s no question that she agrees with the divorce. This means we have to start over but oh well 🙄😭😂

My concern is was your marriage three months past the irrevocable period to be deemed a legal marriage.
Yes his divorce was May and we got married 9/26. Looks like we have to start over anyway. It sux but it is what it is. He’s going to Egyptian embassy to get final divorce and will register it in England than we can get married in England. Hopefully that doesn’t present any problems in the future. Craziness

Yes I will, but it will be when I get home from work at 6pm
The Lawyer speaks Arabic and very good English too. My husband dealt with the Egyptian lawyer, he said he was a good guy who did what he said he was going to do.
Thank you so much 😊

And I have a good name of a lawyer in Cairo that helped me get the divorce registered with the Family Civil Office there, and got me 3 original certificates showing the marriage & divorce was registered. His price was fair, he got the docs we needed in 1 day .
Can you send me the name of ur lawyer? He’s getting his final divorce from the Egyptian embassy in England and we will remarry in England. Seems like the easiest thing to do. I wonder if the same process still applies since he doesn’t live in egypt. Thanks
8 minutes ago, JeanneAdil said:Did he get his criminal report from Egypt when he returned? It will be needed at the NVC stage of the process
if not there is more reason to return and get the divorce registered
He needs his criminal record from England since that’s where he’s been living the past 4 years. He’ll work on that.

You can also look at moving to him, if it's possible for legal residents in the UK.
It is possible and that would be like our last option. I have 3 kids and they wouldn’t be happy to move. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that.

Why isn't it possible for your husband to go back to Egypt if needed? Maybe contact his lawyer there first to see if his presence is even required...
Lots of reasons money his job time. He’s in contact with a lawyer in egypt so we’ll see. He’s leery of lawyers because he says in egypt they’re not trustworthy. Anybody know a good lawyer in egypt?

If that is the case, OP, you should be fine with having married after the 3 month cooling off period. USCIS has a list of reciprocal forms by country, and it won't have been the first Egyptian divorce they have seen, even for London.
I can’t find a list of reciprocal forms online. Do you know where to find it?
-
Where is the list of reciprocal forms? I saw on other sites that they got denied because they don’t accept a divorce that says revocable
I wish someone had a definite answer lol. I’ve got emails out to all lawyers in my state and Philly.

Hi. I’m new to this forum and I hope someone here has gone through what I assume I’m about to go through. My husband lives in England. He is a legal resident of England. He is a citizen of Egypt. We have been together for a year and I’ve been to England 5 times. We decided to go to egypt to get married. He had a previous marriage and got divorced in May. We got married on 9/26. Now we want to start the visa process. He had his divorce translated and it says revocable divorce. I’ve read things online saying this won’t be accepted by USCIS. We are at a loss because now we can’t go back to egypt to fix this and we are afraid to file because we don’t know what will happen? Can anyone shed some light. Can we provide other types of proof that his previous marriage is over?
Desperate in Delaware 😭
