  1. My husband's arrogance got in the way and he quit his job 2 weeks ago. My question is, will this hurt us come interview time ( April 7th ) ?. Also, we had a courthouse wedding and it was spur-of-the-moment because I had a surgical procedure done the day before . No witnesses, no friends or family, no party or honeymoon. We only have 3 pictures of us standing across the street from the courthouse. We have proof of everything else like his name on the bills, insurances, bank account, etc., Does anyone see this as possible trouble at the interview?

Hi Nagish...you don't have to worry about the your interview...Me and my husband was also married in City Hall and only one witness( just my husband's dad). As long as you can show your marriage certificate, it will be ok..

With regards to your husband losing his job, we have the same situation.. it was never mentioned in the interview, maybe because the Affidavit of Support we filed before is already enough...

And about the wedding photos, we forgot to bring any wedding photos.. I only have like 5 photos of me and my husband's family and these photos were taken without any occasion.. its just random photos that we had.. but I also brought the photos that I've shown during my K1 application interview..

The documents of joint assets that you mentioned I think is enough to prove that your marriage is real..

And oh.. just a tip.. this may not happen on your interview but I also want to share what the consul asked us to verify the marriage..

We were interviewed at the same time. He asked my husband to look away and asked me to write the brand of the toothpaste that we both use....and asked my husband to answer it verbally.....It may not be only toothpaste.. He tried to ask if we have pets, he wanted to know the name/s of the pets, how many calendars we have in the house, he wanted to ask what is the design of the calendar.... those stuff... so just make sure you pay attention to those details....

Good Luck and just relax during the interview...

I couldn't answer those questions. I had to go check to see what toothpaste we use. All we were asked is how we met, how many times I had gone to Thailand, where I worked and what I did there. The interviewer also asked my wife her (our) address and her phone number and whether she had a job.

  2. Thank you, Beautiful_years for your words! You know we both are worried silly, and even now so that my husband knows he screwed up by quitting his job. I will try to stay focused on the positive, but as you know, better said than done. Such worry warts we are !

Nagishkaw...your lack of pictures for your wedding is nothing to worry about. I will say that our interviewer asked to see our pictures, but this was not just wedding photos but just every day pictures (at thanksgiving, xmas etc) showing that we are together.

  3. Congrats to everyone else getting approved!!! One question: how long is normally taking to get the GC in the mail after being approved??

    Gaz.

Thank you so much and congratulations for you guys too. Yes, you are going to get a 10 years GC.

About get GC by mail, she told us that it will take about 1 week to 30 days. If we don't get it within 30days, we have to do info pass.

  4. So why not install that program on your computer to track him? How could SAY he has no more profiles or chats but how will you really know?

that may not be legal in some states.......

    from one site selling keyloggers:

It's her computer, she can do as she pleases. The company is basically stating, don't use the software for things like, stealing peoples information, id's etc.

  5. Do I hear $5?

Well it costs between $10 and $20 just to get the stuff out of the ground, so probably not.

It costs way more than $10-$20 to pull oil out of the ground now, except for maybe a handful of oil fields.

  6. Thank you for the advice and website Anya.

    ไม่เป็นไรครับ I can read Thai.

Unfortunately none of the pepper seeds are sprouting. We might need to have a plan B to get some more of those seeds.

Pepper seeds take a long time to germinate. Sometimes up to 21 days. I start all mine indoors on a sponge like media. They also like the media temp around 80-85 F.

  7. I think whomever has custody should pay. If you don't want custody, you shouldn't pay. If you are forced to pay, then you should get half custody - and yes, even if that means the child moves to the other side of the planet for 6 months at a time.

If party A doesn't want custody and doesn't want to pay, and party B thinks he/she can't afford it on his/her own, then party B should give the child up for adoption to someone who CAN pay.

These people who want custody AND want someone else to pay are just about as unreasonable as it gets.

Give me a break. It takes two. Why the hell should this guy be exempt from paying child support? Oh, you know we made a baby, but I've had second thoughts. You can take care of him/her. Child support? Yeah, I don't think so...I didn't want the baby, so why should I man up and help out?

I don't think she said anything about keeping the baby away from the guy. His choice. It still doesn't exempt him from helping to take care of the child.

I guess there will always be a few out there that don't want to take care of their responsibilities. <_<

  8. If you want to teach, get your TESOL (more common in the US...TEFL is more common in the UK) because without it, your very small wage will be even smaller. I think most reputable schools expect this. I don't know how things are in VN, but in Thailand, the government is really cracking down on the requirements. Although not a problem for you, those that don't have a degree and are working in Thailand are doing so at their own peril.
