Sea Leslie got a reaction from Van jones in Age Gap
Hey guys...
So, I was just reading a post from a fellow VJ member and I was thinking about the age gap situation. I am a US citizen and my last husband who is a US citizen was much older then me and we had a significant age gap. No one even questioned it, and of course, I am totally aware that this would be an issue for some individuals in other countries because of marriage fraud.
My thoughts are... how can the interviewer really determine if the marriage is a fraud because of the age difference? I, of course, do not have a concern with age because love is all that really matters, but I am worried (I overthink at times) that this issue (age gap) prevents other people from being together. Seems so unfair, but what are your thoughts?

This is true! So many delays/RFEs are avoidable by carefully and thoroughly documenting.

Yes, I feel that it worked for me because I was approved for the I-130 shortly after I applied for the K3 but I don't have proof. However, my documentation was perfect and nothing was sent back. Documentation is key for a fast approval as well.

There was a period of time, prior to COVID, where VJ members reported that this was working. I have not seen any cases here where it worked to hasten the approval time since late 2019. @Sea Leslie was one who did it - maybe she's still around on VJ and will see this.

Sea Leslie reacted to isis375 in Approved Spouse Visa. Zoom Marriage!
CR-1 Visa Approved! Zoom Ceremony.
My husband and I married through Utah Online marriage ceremony in September 2020. I visited him in Costa Rica in October 2020 and filed for the CR-1. Our I-130 was approved January 29, 2021. We were DQ in the NVC on February 16, 2021 and received our interview date on February 24th.
My husband passed his interview this morning and now we await his passport and POE in the coming weeks.

Sea Leslie got a reaction from Iscir in Florida Biometric Appointments
Greetings everyone, I wanted to give you an update....
So my husband kept calling the USCIS and he finally got a letter for a biometrics appointment on February 16, 2021 at 8AM. They did not allow me to come in with him, so my husband said that they woman who took his fingerprints was very since but could not answer some of the questions he had. Like:
1. How soon will I get the green card?
2. When will it expire?
3. Will I get the 2 year since I waited so long or will it be the 10 year?
Anyway, we got an update on February 20, 2021 (Super FAST) 🥳 and I provided it below. Thanks for your help everyone.
Card Is Being Produced
We have approved your Form OS155A, Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. On February 20, 2021, we ordered your card to be produced. We will mail your card to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I remember you! Did you file an inquiry?? I assume that’s when they asked for biometrics. I would say keep making inquiries or contact your congressperson. I know of other VJ members here had the same issue with USCIS asking for biometrics, but I don’t know what happened in the end :/

If he needs to travel, within 30 days, he can request an urgent appointment.

Agree. Something is wrong if he has not received his Green card after almost a year (assuming the $220 was paid).

The 551 stamp (it was at the bottom of Adil's passport ) written out / the visa should already be stamped with this notice
it expires in a year as the green card is then suppose to be in his hands
even though the Senators are in session in DC, there is a Senator's aide in each office to handle this/ be prepared to sign a permission note to allow the office to look into your case and also take all the case info so they have case # and names , POE date and copy of visa stamp

Sea Leslie reacted to Sukie in problems with the DS-260 option about SSN
I actually think it only works well about 25% of the time. We waited only 11 days after POE, and the local SSN office was fabulous. My spouse got her card 3 days later!

Sea Leslie reacted to D&Q in problems with the DS-260 option about SSN
Hi everyone!
Just wanted to share an experience my husband and I had with the whole Social Security card. When I (petitioner) was filling out the DS-260 for my husband I checked the option that stated if I wanted them share his information with the social security office so he can receive his social security card in the mail after he has entered the US. Well, since I had checked that option we were waiting for his number in the mail, he received his green card but no social security card. We decided to go to the social security office and find out well, it turns out that his information was not in their system. So, we had to reapply for a number.
I just wanted to share this with everyone so if you checked that option on the DS-260 or the DS-230 and have not yet received your social security card and it has been a while don't wait more just go to your local social security office and find out maybe your information is not in their system just how my husbands information was not.
Has anyone else had this type of experience?

Sea Leslie reacted to dwheels76 in Social Security Number Tips after POE: Hw to get
Wow I am in Houston also. Green card delivery still is 4 t 8 weeks. May take more may take less. Hard to track until they actually ma it then maybe you will see something on our case status screen otherwise just wait patiently. Green card isn't needed but the SSN sure is.

Sea Leslie reacted to dwheels76 in Social Security Number Tips after POE: Hw to get
For most people arriving on a CR1/IR1 Visa the SSN is a no problem and issued within a week sometimes 2 weeks. Well here is some FYI for the rest of us who don't get t that fast.
On the DS-260 yes you checked you want a Social Security Number sent to you but as we were told when we went to social security office on day 10 after POE many times the name of immigrant gets typed in wrong or backwards and your request will literally sit until you go to SS office and apply for a card.
My husbands Visa and Passport has Middle Name, First Name, Last name. Birth Certificate is first Name, Middle Name, Last name. So his Alien status had to be verified since documents they said were different. That was done July 8th. July 21st all clear and Jult 22nd Card issued. We received today.
So here's my tip. I know we say wait 2 weeks for card. I say 7 to 10 days after POE no card (it only takes 4 days to issue from POE), go to the SS office and verify you are in the system. If you aren't you have to apply by filling out the application.
Most people after applying get card with 5 days. Others like us must be verified with Border patrol.
so again here are you steps to getting your SS card..
1. Arrive in US
2. If no SSN in 7 to 10 days (give them at least 5 business days to get you in system)
3. Go to SS office
4. Verify you are in the system
5. If not fill out application (actually have filled out just in case
Be sure you take passport, birth certificate with you. Also marriage certificate especially for women doing name changed

Sea Leslie reacted to Cathi in DON'T check "send me the social security card by mail", when you e-file DS-260!!!
We had the same experience with my husband. I say still check it, but as about 2 weeks after arrival go to the SS and apply on your own. Huby waited 6 weeks and we went to the SS office and applied and it still took another 4 weeks because, according to them, his name had one too many letters and they had to send his form to NY.

Sea Leslie reacted to indiana_sweetie in DON'T check "send me the social security card by mail", when you e-file DS-260!!!
We ticked the box and the card didn't arrive, so we went to the SSA office and they told us they would never issue a card without seeing the applicant in person, but that's the state of Indiana. I think different locations might have different policies.
