I will really like to thank everyone for all the information and support. My Fiancee went in today at the Lagos embassy around 7am came out past 9am and she was issued the fiancee visa, all they requested from her were pictures and email and a few question, but we had all the other information just incase. For timelime purposes i started my petition process on Dec 31 2007, the day I was flying to Nigeria, so the entire process was right about 6 months and I processed it all my self without a lawyer. Thanks once again.
Congratulations to you!!!!!

Welcome to VJ and I hope that you enjoy your trip.
A farmers tip for bugs . Consume some garlic and brewers yeast in the month before you go. You will taste nasty to them and they will bite someone else.Sylvia N Joseph, please tell us more on the garlic and brewers.. I have never heard of this before, Thank You.

Sorry Vee for your experience with your congressional office.
I have contacted my congress person and she was very informative and explained that there are about 8-10 different security checks that they complete. They way she explained it was that each check takes time to complete. With there being so many checks it would kinda explain some of the time that it takes to do them. She listed some of the checks but said them so fast that I couldn't remeber them all. But the checks were for my husband and not me, those where done already.

Wow...
Seemed like you told them!!!!

I don't believe that you have to change your name. I have read a few cases in VJ where the spouse waited to come to the US before changing their name. I know that in the US there are plenty of couples that opt not to change their name.

Congratulations to you

My husband submitted one police report and had to have another one submitted because it expired after the 3 month period. But of course this was for a different embassy. He also had to go to 2 towns to get the police reports, one from the town he lives in now and another from the town he lived in while in school.

Hi all...
Me and my husband have been married for a couple years (he is the US citizen and I am british)... He moved over to the UK, but that hasn't worked out so he recently moved back to the US to find work and sort out accomodation, we are now going to start the process for us to be together again with me to moving over to NY with our son. TBH though, I am not in a hurry (sounds terrible doesnt it?? LOL)... I am a teacher so will be spending every 6-8 weeks with him during the school holidays... Plus our son will just be starting full time school in Sept. So realistically we are hoping for the whole process to be completed by July 2009.
Very overwhelmed with all the stuff that needs to be done though, but I guess we have a lot of time to sort it all out.
Nice to meet you all... I will probably have loads of questions...

Hi everyone. I am a newbie.
I am applying for K1 but I already had the interview and right now I am still waiting for my visa for delivery.
I am from the Philippines and my fiance is from Austin.
Nice to be in here.

Hi All,
I've been lurking for a while getting my feet wet, but things are moving much faster now so I have to get my act in gear.
Menci, from Lapu-Lapu, PI, and I applied in February for our K1 visa and we received our NOA2 and NVC letter last week!
Totally shocked to say the least. Thought we'd be waiting until at least Christmas. All of a sudden I need to get my home clean and ready for a woman
Now we are trying to make sense of the next steps and am awfully confused about the visa interview/medical process timeline. Guess I'd better read some more posts!
Everyone's had great advice so far. Thanks so much!
Rob and Menci
Good Luck, I'm sure that the interview will be fine

Well, I was born in the US and met my boyfriend at the age of 11 in 1995. I would go to Dominican Republic every summer with my parents. We have been on and off since then and I am glad to say that after such a long time we are finally going to be together. I submitted a K-1 visa for him and he is, as I type this, getting his medical exam done. We have our appointment next week. I hope everything goes well.
That's wonderful news, Good Luck on the interview

Did you know that the microwave oven is deadly? I thought this was very interesting knowledge. I added the original link where I retrieved the information.
http://www.mercola.com/article/microwave/hazards.htm
Ten Reasons to Throw out your Microwave Oven
From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following:
1). Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by "shorting out" electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].
2). The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.
3). Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.
4). The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.
5). Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.
6). The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.
7). Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America.
8). The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.
9). Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.
10). Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.
Have you tossed out your microwave oven yet?
After you throw out your microwave you can use a toaster oven as a replacement. It works well for most and is nearly as quick.
The use of artificial microwave transmissions for subliminal psychological control, a.k.a. "brainwashing", has also been proven. We're attempting to obtain copies of the 1970's Russian research documents and results written by Drs. Luria and Perov specifying their clinical experiments in this area.
