Just successfully registered my new address with NVC. Worth trying to call them every day after you receive NOA2 so you can do this. Good luck!

The form you were directed to is for US residents only. It's unclear because it says non-citizens but there is no means of changing a foreign address.
I know this because I am the beneficiary and moved a month or so after filing and looked into it myself. We just got approved recently and I am now phoning NVC daily to try and register my new address so that I can be certain of receiving Packet 3. I think if you miss NVC you can also register the change with the relevant embassy. They have to have your application though.
So, you will have to wait until after you receive NOA2. As far as I know anyway

Only the petitioner can register a change of address vis USCIS whilst the petition is awaiting approval. The beneficiary must wait until the file reaches NVC before being able to do this.

It would seem to me that members of a religion - let's take Mormons as an example to avoid being inflammatory - are a "group of people" and are "identified by a unifying characteristic" (their faith in the tenets of Mormonism).
The question really becomes, is a post intended to degrade them? Is there intent? How do you determine intent? I'd argue by past post history. If a poster has shown a history of being anti-Mormon, then you have intent. But is the content degrading? To degrade is to "bring to low esteem or into disrepute".
I don't know about you, but I don't see this standard being applied much at all.

bakofoil reacted to elmcitymaven in The new "banning from thread" action
I find I am now banned from posting in a certain thread. What I posted there was not racist, sexist, derogatory, defamatory or likely to cause offence; nor was it pornographic, obscene or in any objective way, well, objectionable. I happened upon a thread which I had looked at several times before in utter confusion -- it seemed to consist only of a few VJers writing each other's names. Beyond taking up bandwidth, I didn't really understand what it was. When I saw that some other VJers, ones who didn't usually post there were now posting, I decided to take part -- what had looked like an exclusive club now appeared to be open. So I posted in the spirit of what was going on, and it seemed to be fairly innocuous stuff.
Apparently not. I find I am banned from posting in this thread (and I can only assume others have been too). Why? Because I dared to post in the precious thread of another member? We have gone down this path before, unsurprisingly with the same member, and the result then was this: no one thread can be said to be the exclusive domain of any member, or group of members. What I posted was NOT meant to interrupt a thread -- when the entire thread consists essentially of two members writing each other's names again and again and again, how is posting ANYTHING in there disruptive? I'm halfway tempted to message Rob and ask him to start our own thread where we write "Rob" and "Maven" at each other, in different colours and typefaces. When someone else posts in there, I'll report them for disrupting the flow of our Sacred Shouting Thread.
I happen to believe that one of the members in that thread does not like me for whatever reason, and if my post was reported for something as ridiculous as "Maven is yucky and it's my thread and waaaaaah" then I call BS.

Steven ~ Nice I'm so glad the cap'n adopted your idea for the site!
And I'm just going to throw something out there from my personal point of view... I really think people take themselves too seriously.
I love VJ, and spend a great deal of time here. I care about the site so much that I even signed on to be a moderator and offer the little free time that I do have to attempt to help make it a more pleasant place to be.
But I never cease to be surprised at how immature people can be. Now, I could see you all getting upset over arguments with your spouse, sibling, parents, etc. But c'mon people - what's with the drama? This is a message board.
I think we should rechannel all this energy into helping people in the upper forums complete their visa journey that's what it's all about right? I don't know where we would be if it hadn't been for this site!

I really don't know what to say - the current crop of K1 filers seem to be flying through with their applications (yay!) and despite this they need hope regarding when their interview is scheduled? Really? From my husband filing to NVC completion was exactly five months, slightly longer than average (at that time, don't know about now). I had to wait a further two months for an interview - roughly the same amount of time current K1 filers take from sending in the application to USCIS to the embassy receiving the case - wow! My interview was short and sweet, told to expect the visa within a week or two, but SIX MONTHS later and I'm still waiting as I later found out I'm in administrative processing and nobody knows why. Two congressional inquiries and three attempts by a senator and we're still none the wiser, or closer to getting a visa. I have been told there's no timeframe and that it could take years and there's nothing I, or anyone else, can do about it. I'm the one that needs hope here, blimey!!! All this and I still don't call the DoS daily, or even weekly...
Oh and, my case is NOTHING compared to fellow UK applicants that needed to apply for waivers. There are people waiting years, literally, for an outcome and there's somebody at the moment who's already endured the most testing circumstances and who's appealing...she's been told it's another 26+ MONTHS before her case is reviewed. And yet here we have people who can't wait an extra few days to hear when their interview will be. How on earth do they expect to cope with the trials and tribulations of life, including marriage?!?

It's a good idea within reason. I have continuing worries about context, and in particular what some people see as bullying and others see as pure disagreement. Increasingly, and seemingly out of nowhere, there have been a number of accusations of bullying where it seems clear to me that there is a genuine difference of opinion. I would hate to see debate and disagreement (when not in the form of attack) quashed because a mod isn't able to be around to see the nuances of such exchanges. We all know there are those who have publicly declared their love of the "Report" button and stated that they will use it as much as they like, thankyouverymuch. I'm concerned that the loudest shouters will get their opponents shut out, and that threads will degenerate into one-sided discussions.

You missed my point, entirely. My point was that there is a place already for what you are trying to accomplish. Its called the 2010 UK Interview Thread, or something to that effect. There is all kinds of info in that thread and people sharing their stories, giving members a glimpse as to all the variations in getting through the interview process. I'm sorry that you are willing to accept that there is another way of looking at things.
I do actually care about the process and I'm still actually going through the next steps with my husband as I type. In fact, with respect to my husband's RoC, we have run into a major snafu. And yet, you haven't seen me starting all sorts of new threads trying to garner attention to the situation. I merely commented about it a few times in the May 2010 I-751 filers thread, since that is the appropriate place for me to discuss issues relative to the petition.
So, bear in mind that once you get through the K1, your journey is far from over. Your fiance will need to go through some major adjustments to life in the US, and you'll have your next steps in the immigration process, which may or may not be as easy as the K1 has been for you. There will be some major challenges along the way, I assure you. You may think I'm unfeeling or unkind, but nothing could be further from the truth. I am merely trying to offer some perspective on the situation, things that you may not have considered since you haven't been on VJ long enough to read some of the truly awful stuff that members have gone through.

I guess we'll agree to disagree. I actually like Kathryn personally, so I don't take any satisfaction in being so critical of her moderating "style." Yes, she puts a lot of work in, but IMHO she's too fast on the draw, too likely to lock a thread instead of steering it in the right direction. I think all she'd have to do is tweak her style just a bit, and she'd be fantastic.

I'm a stalker? That is the most hilarious thing I've ever heard! I admit, I did criticize jasman for being so insensitive to someone who'd husband had walked out on her. His comment that he was so glad he had a wonderful wife added nothing to the discussion. I stand by my remarks. Gary is a known mysoginist, which I take offense to, like many others on VJ. I will occasionally comment when he offends me. Charles I've said my peace on. I don't like him. But for anyone to believe he is a good candidate for deputy mod moreso than I? Well, that is simply crazy!
I rarely post in OT. I haven't posted on expats in ages, or even logged in there. However, I would point out that any behavior exhibited on expats should not be a factor in deciding anything on VJ. After all, they are 2 separate entities, one of which is "anything goes".
I know one time you sent me a rather lengthy PM, however at the time I skimmed it I didn't have time to respond to you. Then I got busy with other things and simply forgot about it. Sorry, but the situation to which you refer I cannot even recall. I'm sorry if it offends you that I didn't get back to you.
I try to be helpful in the UK forum, even if some people don't like hearing calm down, etc. I remember Mags handing out very similar advices to noobs when she was a mod. I'm not petitioning for myself to be a deputy mod. A few friends recommended me and I am honored that they think so much of me. If asked, I would *only* monitor the UK forum, whch I believe I am capable of doing.
I would just like to add that I find it interesting that someone who finds my so-called "attacks" so offensive has no problems openly attacking me. Walk the walk, smoke.

I disagree. The whole point is that you choose somebody who has a vested interest in the community. Somebody who isn't part of a clique, and somebody who has shown a capacity for good judgement and level-headed thinking. You want to avoid cliquish members for sure, but also someone who that community has already come to respect.

I remember when I started my own 'Visajourney' my NOA1 never looked like arriving. My petition, along with thousands of others, was caught up in a semi-truck outside CSC for an indeterminate length of time. Some of you 'n00bs' have received your NOA2's in less time than it took for my cheque to be cashed never mind receipt of the NOA1. Many of us in that particular thread sat and waited patiently for news from each other that there was movement at CSC finally. There was NO ONE to call because our petitions hadn't even been received.
I'm not telling you this because I think you should be sympathetic, or that waaaah! my petition took longer to approve than yours. I'm telling you because I got reminded that things would be ok, that there was little I could do about it, but that it would work out in the end. I was told this in a way more abrasive way, by some very famously abrasive VJ 'legacy members', than you guys are currently experiencing. And you know what? They were right. It was ok and thank goodness they stepped in to assure us that we wouldn't be forgotten, however detached from our experience they may have seemed to be.
I skim through the UK forums now and again and feel a little perspective might be in order sometimes. For the past year or so there has been an atmosphere of panic and immediacy and a lot of ME! ME! ME! One thing I noted about the invisibilised thread started by Dodi is that it was politely suggested to the OP that calling DOS fairly frequently for her own purposes may impact adversely on others who have more urgent need for that line. Particularly people in AP/AR. The response from the OP to this suggestion was fairly abrasive in itself and I, and countless others probably, lost sympathy for her argument at that point.
Please stop by and read the AP thread one of these days when you feel the urge to obsess over your own petition. It's very sobering and humbling and it will kill an awful lot of time. And that's just London, probably one of the easiest consulates to obtain a visa through.

Oooh, this sounds interesting. Care to post a summary of sorts?
What's with all the attacks, and reports and bans and violations and lock-downs and invisibilizings--this is the interwebz for *ucks sake! Why do people take it so effin' seriously!?
While we are on the subject of rants, here's mine for the day --
Frankly, I also find VJ becoming a lot more mamby-pamby lately. I've started avoiding the upper forums mostly because it is now crawling with testy, aggressive noobs without a sense of humor. I remember when I first started posting here, and god knows, I have had my share of noobs threads--I mean I was ready to neck myself over the I864 but I was so grateful for any nugget of information, any helpful suggestion or tip that I was happy if even one poster responded. Not like the noobs nowadays who will actively ignore your experienced suggestions and continue to demand only answers that they want to hear, attack you for suggesting or posting something that might not have been asked for yet but you know, will come up soon. Oh and don't get me started on the SO's who will jump in to defend their beloved's honor time and time again. I've had PMs from random noob members calling me 'self-righteous' and 'critical' and 'judgemental' in response to posts I've made to (different) OPs. Had absolutely nothing to do with them. Nada. Frankly, I couldn't care less about the fact that they've 'lost all respect for me' but I just can't figure out where they find the time to PM me to write lengthy posts in order to inform me, that they were, from now on, going to ignore me.
How does that even make sense? Would you call someone to tell them that they were now on your ignore-list? #######.
