  1. My fiance was mailed a physical letter from the NVC on the day our application was shipped to the consulate. It arrived about 2 weeks later. I don't see why they didn't email. I provided our email addresses per the instructions in the PDF, but I guess it didn't work.

The NVC sends different notifications based on which consulate the application is being sent to? That seems odd.

Here's what "should" happen. But even this doesn't always occur.

NVC sends a physical letter to the petitioner to notify them that the petition was sent to the consulate.

The consulate sends either a physical letter and/or email to the beneficiary when the petition arrives. This will either be a packet 3 to submit documents prior to scheduling the interview, or a packet 4 with interview instructions (where you would self-schedule the appointment).

Well yes, that much I have gathered from reading here. But for consulate-specific processes for K1s at Dakar, there only seems to be about one person a year who documents it, and it's a bit different each time. So I'm writing these notes of our experience to be the 2020 version.

It is not clear to me if I should even expect a P3 or not, let alone how and to whom it will arrive.
