Its a stroks interview, we had one, lasted about 3 whole minutes, crazy questions, Who walks the dogs? Who smokes? How many languages does your husband speak?
I think possible it was a 2nd interview cause the 1st one was way over a year before.
We had no lawyers with us at the interview nor the whole process. But with your case, you may want to look into hiring a lawyer.
Best Wishes.

Wait to sign infront of an officer. You can answer the questions ahead of time though.

long story short, wife's n400 got approved, she had her interview early October and that got approved too, so we are waiting for her oath ceremony date to be scheduled.
so far we waited 3 weeks and still nothing.
we just found out her mother is very sick and we need to go back to her home country.
does anyone know how to Expedite Oath Ceremony? is there a paper work we need to fill out, or do we need to call someone?
this is for the Portland Oregon field office
thanks
No such thing, as others said, travel on her current passport.

How long does Houston usually take to schedule the oath ceremony? Husband was approved Friday and I was just wanting to get an idea. Also am I allowed to attend the oath ceremony with him? Thanks!
He was scheduled later that day after his approval at interview. Happened very fast. From interview to swearing in was like 3 weeks apart.
The ceremony was at the Campbell educational center, and yes, I was allowed in. Some came with kids also, lots of room there for family attending.
Now if citizenship ceremony is at their office, I dont know if family is allowed to attend.
Congrats on your approval. ♥

Approximately 40 years ago I was arrested for shop lifting in VA. The charge was dismissed,it was a first time offense. I don’t have anything else on my record. I tried to get the court records for my case but was told that they were destroyed after twenty years. During my citizenship interview today,I answered with no when asked if I’d ever been arrested, since it was dismissed. Of course I know now that I should have answered with yes! Could you please advise me in how UCIS will proceed in my case, will I be prosecuted or even deported?
Thanks so much!Give it a day or two, I bet you see an updated of approved shortly.
Hang in there, your almost done with immigration.

IO game me the interview results form. It marked “A decision cannot be made yet on your application” my status online still says Interview scheduled.
I made the mistake for not taking evidence to this interview. But I gathered PLENTY of evidence now. I’m waiting for their response if it’s negative I’ll get an attorney and go from there.Truly hope it all works out well for you. I know very well how frustrating this process is.
Best wishes.

Fed-X it. Much less hassle then dealing with US Embassy.
In meanwhile, see if someone can email you copy of front and back. Couldnt hurt, especially if you do go to embassy

I know there are lots of yt on the questions but is there a pdf or txt file? I'm thinking it would be easier for my wife to study if I broke it up into 10 question blocks rather than throwing the whole 100 at her.
Thanks
Pull up Civic questons on You Tube, N-400 Interview. that truly helped my husband pass his exam portion.
I also got him the flash cards, worked wonders.

Do you think it's worth it me flying over there this weekend, Tickets are available and average price. I feel confident she will pass about 85% due to high success rate for older people getting tourist visa approved from Philippines.
The US Embassy is very accommodating to US Citizens, and when I did my K1 interview they had a seperate line for American Citizens that I could enter so we didn't have to wait in line, and I think I was the only American there that day. VIP treatment.
My issue is we are supposed to fly to Cancun Wednesday. My wife is too timid and shy, but me I am tall and outgoing and gregarious and people tend to like me. Plus I am sure they haven't seen very many if any Americans show up for a tourist visa interview, but if they ask a question like "Why do you want to go to the USA", I would just raise my hand, or if they ask "Who is Paying", I will just raise my hand.
My last interview for K1 the CO was so cool and seemed happy for us passing, he was really cool and we were the last interview of the day, and I saw him leaving the US Embassy in front of the Embassy and he was still giving us congratulations.
Would not help her at all, the VIsitors Visa is all about your Mother and her ties to her home there.
And your most likley wont be allowed in to attend her interview.

Hi folks, we've made it through all steps of the journey except citizenship. My wife and I have been married for 6 years but we'd like to wrap it up within six months if possible so there's less trouble traveling back to Europe next summer.
I filed the N-400 online today and it was relatively easy for USCIS. It's stating a projected processing time of 7 months. If it's a straightforward application, think it could be turned around and onto the next step (biometrics) quicker?
The majority depends on the USCIS office workloads. Shutdown looms, holidays, and people using up that vacation time before end of the year.
We ( my husband ) filed Nov 2023 and went quicker then I ever dreamed.
Best wishes for a quick & final journey with USCIS.

My wife had her interview today. Her Qatar PCC was applied for last June 2023. It was received in August 2023, and it was received expired. (They are good for 90 days from date of issue, evidently.) No worries, right? Because the immigration process is ridiculously long, they are by the Department of State's own rules valid indefinitely, e.g. "Police certificates expire after two years, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued."
The consul who interviewed her today said it was expired. Gave her a 221g. She's smart, and she requested to speak to a supervisor. She was told there is nothing they can do and escorted out of the embassy.
By the time she receives her next Qatar PCC, her medical will likely also be expired. They really make this as impossible as they can. Best of luck to everyone, and congratulations to those who manage to make it.Really surprised, that embassy use to hand ourt Visa's as if it was a Candy Store.

Does the CO expect to see proof of return flight such as reservations or flight itinerary? If so, what is the accepted way of obtaining that without purchasing tickets? I have seen multiple companies offering “dummy tickets” but they seem sketchy and from reviews not always reliable.
Dont book anything till visa is in hand.

Hello everyone. my fiancé (American 24years old, I, Moroccan, turning 21 in December) is filling the k1 visa. We met a few weeks ago and be stayed here for 8days. We couldn't get family photos or anything because it was our first meeting and wanted to see how it goes...after he returned we decided we would like to marry and file for the k1 visa, not the cr1 because he can't stay here for a long period as he has business to watch. However im afraid that this will be a red flag at the embassy and will get us rejected. I have heard of parental consent affidavit and that this could help with our case, however I'm not sure how it would work, given that notaries here (Morocco) don't speak English and might refuse to notarize documents made in English? I would appreciate any type of information. Thank you in advance.
8 days together, and already deciced you want to marry? Not a good idea, take time to know each other, let him get to know your family. Months of chatting dont mean much, screen shot pics arent helpful.
Morocco is a tough embassy regardless how strong a releationship- evidence there is, so take time to be prepared, get to truly know each other.
You cannot marry & file for a K1 Visa, Not even a Orfi marriage or a Nikah marriage.
Good luck on your journey.

Is his bank statement relevant? We have heard people say that you must have at least $10,000 in the bank to even receive an interview.
No, not at all.
And do yourself a favor, dont listen to people who have not been through the Immigration journey.
Best wishes.

Hi all, it has been a long time since I posted here as we had been waiting on her N-400 notification. My wife found out that she is getting a notification for her N-400 interview in the mail shortly. What are some of the things that we need to know before going to the interview, and what documents will she need to bring with her?
Make sure she studies for the Civic Test. She dont pass that, then whatever you bring wont help .

Hello, i recently got my US citizenship and changed my name few months after i got my citizenship.
i was as wondering how would that affect me getting in and out of the TUNISIA using my US passport that has a name that’s different the name on my Tunisian passport ? My tunisian passport is expired and i don't plan on renewing it before the trip so i'll be using my USA passport. the only issue is that i do know that immigration officers in the tunisian airport will run my name on their data base and I KNOW that they won't have any information pop because my new name DOESNT MATCH my name in tunisia if they look me up using my NEW USA NAME.
Do i have to bring my expired tunisian passport with me so they can confirm my identity ?f I do so, will I be able to exit the country later using the US passport despite the names not matching ?Will It be enter able to enter and exit the country with my USA passport ? Or will I have issues ?
Anyone from tunisia KNOWS HOW AWFUL it can be to deal with customes and border officer there, so i'm just trying to be prepared and avoid BEING DENIED ENTRY OR EXIT and get stuck there
thanks for the helpYou shold post in the MENA ( Midde East North Africa ) formum , you should get feedback on your Customs concerns over there.

Hey everyone,
Anyone have any idea about this, my husbands birth certificate lists everything a normal one should info wise, but both parents DOB are not listed. My husband and brother in law are assuring me this is just how Algerian birth certificates are. Anyone can confirm? I’m about to file my i130 in the coming weeks and wanted to double check.
Same for my husband, so we left it blank on the immigration forms.
We also obtianed copies of thier Moroccan National ID cards, and it shows no date of birth, and included it in all through our immigration journey, never had an issue with it.

Hi y'all,
I'm about to become a US citizen and I'm looking at the list of things I have to do after that. I saw that we have to update the DMV after naturalization.
How is that done in Texas?
What documents should I bring besides the naturalization certificate?
Do I get a new driver's license?
Under what category should I request the appointment online ?
About a week after you become a citizen, make appointment iwth SS office, once that is done, take your naturalization certificate, you go to DPS to show them your status change, so they remove the LPR on your license record.
We are doing that today for my husband, SS, and then ask how long till DPS see's the status change. He already received his passport, took 3 weeks for passport processing.
Best wishes.

Ok so after no changes for 5 weeks I asked my Congresswoman to reach out to USCIS. She did that on Friday and then first thing this morning my case finally updated to Quality Review based on approval recommendation! Could be coincidental but seems like that has helped.
In the case history it also shows Placed in line for Oath Scheduling with today’s date - I know sometimes when statuses update concurrently it doesn’t necessarily show the last status. Hopefully my oath will be scheduled soon!
Getting closer to the finish line!
Most likley will be scheduled for next month Oath, they take place once a month.

Based off everyone's experience, does 'Your case is taking longer than expected' mean anything for Houston FO? Applied under 3 year rule on March 28.
Biometrics were reused. Still waiting for interview. Estimated timeline was changing from 3 months to 2 to weeks and now it says the above. Any insight or help is appreciated.
We had that same messge, about 3 weeks later Interview was scheduled.

How should I get prepared?
How was your experience?
Any good/bad experience?
Let's share.
You Tube has great videos on the N-400 internview, my husbnad watched them for about 2 months and passed his N-400 interview.
Study the Civic questions, you can get copies of the questions on line, print them out.
