I had the same thing happen to me. You must apply under the name on your I-94. (The paper they stapled into your passport when you officially entered the USA. I had a dumb SSA worker who did not know what they were doing and because of this I was denied because Homeland Security had "no record". This, after I went for my biometrics. So, go back and tell them that the number they must use and the name they must use is on your I-94. Don't take no for an answer.  I was told I could not re-apply (by the office where they screwed up) and my licence expired because I did not have an SSA. It was a big mess and I found out when I reapplied after my first GC they told me at that SSA office  that I had been misinformed and I could have reapplied right away.

In short, I'm currently here in the US under a K1 visa. I arrived in August and got married a week ago in Sept. We went to the SSA office and were told we could not get a SSN yet.  Help!

    Details:

I arrived here last Aug 16, 2019 and got married sept. 15, 2019. Just last Friday sept 20,2019 my husband and I went to SSA to get a SSnumber filled out application form under married name but failed to give me one as the clerk told me that it's a mismatched. And told me too that i should call USCIS to change the visa satus to K3. We got confused we dont know what to do. Please help us as i need to have my SSN so i could drive, include me to my husbands bank account and other benefits in the future, etc. Thank you and looking forward to your advice regarding this matter.

K1 entrants can apply anytime before their I94 expires true, in their maiden name.  K3 cannot apply at all until EAD approval.  OP wants a SS card in married name - SS will require EAD in married name for OP to get what she wants.  Getting a SS card in married name before EAD?  Difficult to impossible.  It it the number that is important anyway, gets you enrolled in health insurance, bank, credit card, life insurance, the whole puppet show.

Otherwise OP can get a SS in maiden name under K1 status and change her name on the card later after the EAD card is approved.

Recommendation to “convert to K3” is bogus and even if OP went home, started over, and managed to procure a K3 (miracle there) she would still not see a SS card until her EAD was approved.

To remain in legal status you need an AOS receipt notice in your hand on or before your 90-day I-94 expires.

Not entirely true.  My wife entered on a K1, we got married two weeks later, and a week after that applied for the SSN.  She had to apply in her maiden/foreign passport name, but she was able to apply and she received a SSC in about 2 weeks.

You will need to apply for the SSN using the name on your foreign passport to make it easier on yourself.  You can change it later using either your EAD/AP or Green cards.  The SSA should be able to do it in the married name, but when you add immigration into the mix, it is best to make it as simple on them as possible.

    Good Luck!

Rose picked up the visas today. 2GO still has no record of them!  We are VOH!  No Manila envelope. The visa says “IV Docs on CCD”. It was a long strange trip but I would like to thank everyone here who listened to me complain and always helped me keep my eye on the goal. I am sincerely humbled and indebted to you all.

Depends on the age of the K2 applicant.  My step-son wasn't interviewed as he was only 12 years old at the time.

The document requirements for the K-1 & K-2 are the same except for a few age related documents - CENOMAR & NBI.   Ah, just saw your new posting, at age 19 the CENOMAR & NBI will be required

Dress nice .. makeup is optional   .    My wife wore jeans with a nice blouse and shoes ..   no  makeup.

K-1 info is about half way down the page:    https://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/us-embassy-usem.html

    Remember everything with the K-1 & K-2 must be done X 2.

Questions asked at the interview will be about your fiance (petitioner) for the most part, how well you know him.   How did you meet, where he lives, where he works ..     Have him send a copy of the I-129F form that he sent to USCIS, his BIO information on that form will be helpful.

As for your 19 y.o, they may ask if she likes your fiance and how they get along.  General stuff.

For I-129F petition, all children are listed.

For the visa interview, each applicant (or their parent) completes a DS-160.

Its hard to answer some of your questions because we ar not exactly sure where you are in your visa timeline. So completing your timeline would help. I say this because you are asking with your first post about the filing of the I-129f form which is the first step in the process but you go on to inform us that you have completed the DS-160 which is something you complete much further along in the process.

To better serve you when answering your question(s) can you complete your VJ Profile. To do so go to the upper right hand corner, select your name and under your name chose "my profile". Next under your picture you choose "Edit my Profile". Under profile settings scroll to the bottom of the page and you see two areas (Profile Information and Immigration Information) that accommodates vital additional information to help others in their reply to your question(s).  Without it this information, the replier may just move on and not share the answer because they have to "work" to get the needed information. [visa type and country/Embassy] The answer is sometimes predicated on that additional information. Their time is valuable. Also on that page you should see a link to start your timeline.

Thank you and good luck on your journey.

With the visa interview; when you are schedule your interview at the end of that process it will ask if you want to schedule another interview .. that is when you schedule the K-2 (daughter)

(hopefully when your fiance filed the I-129F he listed the daughter on the form)

    You each complete a DS-160.

You pay two visa fees, you each complete the medical, you each have required documents for the interview.

    And you each complete CFO.
