You do not provide sponsorship information at this stage.  It is provided at the NVC stage. Also copies of 2 years of boarding passess, train tickets aren't needed. Quality over quantity.  You have been living with here for 2 years so use photos and stamps.

Looks good.  We married over there.  No witness letters needed.  Just the marriage book (or in Bali probably just a marriage certificate)
No every record of every place you’ve been either.  Toss in a couple of wedding photos  and copies of all of your passport stamps or if you have a resident permit that’s even better.
Bank accounts require SS numbers usually.  Save it for when the plane lands.

    You have two other issues.
One, you need to demonstrate intent to domicile in the US.  That’s on you.  Bar is pretty low but they’ll ask.  I got grilled (me, not my beneficiary LOL)
You appear to be banking in the US already.  An address, drivers license, voter registration, etc are all good. Embassy’s gonna want to know your plan.

Two you have to sponsor your wife financially.  Read up on the affidavit of support.  It’s the biggest hurdle when both spouses live overseas.  Takes US-based income, liquid assets (really liquid), or a co-sponsor.  Start working on that now.

Good luck to both of you.  We miss Indo LOL

sorry your not getting many responses here, im kind of in the same boat for some dumb stuff that happend to me when i was 11 in 1997, im unable to provide records because my record was expunged, so a lawyer advised me to just write a statement about when and what i was charged with and what my punishment was and include it with my I129f, which i did. its got me worried that its gonna cause problems but im trying to stay positive.

I am living proof that a felony does not prevent someone from successfully petitioning and bringing a spouse into the USA. My husband has a felony and I have been here just over 2 years now. It did not cause any issues with my visa journey. That said, it wasn’t for DV and he also has no DUIs. It does concern me that you mention that the other matters are “just DUIs”. My husband’s brother was killed by a drunk driver and don’t be surprised if they are taken more seriously then you expect. Which embassy are we talking about?

One thing I will say, having experience of going through this with a petitioner with a criminal record, your wife WILL be questioned about your convictions at the embassy interview. She MUST know all of the details. I had copies of my husband’s J&S at my interview (no trial transcript as he pled guilty and waived his right to a trial). If there are trial transcripts available I would definitely get them and provide them to your spouse for her perusal, as well as any other available documentation.

You do not need to disclose any crimes or provide any documentation with the I-130. But USCIS will run an extended background check.

@yuna628 of course we will make a attempt with 0 intent besides being happy. We want a happy life. Together always . My wife really wants to live in the USA . Me on the other hand, I want to retire elsewhere eventually, after I work for another 5 years ....who wouldn’t want to have a house in paradise on a tropical island , surf everyday. It’s all part of the American dream. It’s part of being American, to be able to travel and roam the earth as we want , for however long we want. It’s my right . My wife loves her family very much , but she will always be at my side, but if I see her unhappy years from now because she misses her home and family, you better believe we’re giving back that card .

No worries.  Don't be so hard on yourself.  US immigration is a high-stakes, stressful process.

By being here at VJ and asking questions, you're doing much more for yourself and your wife than a lot of folks who go into it blindly.

Bankruptcy history and credit score will be considered if filed for after the October date under the new rules because there will be new forms to fill out. Additional things to consider would be health insurance which is also being considered as a high positive factor.

Obviously if filed before October none of that will matter..

Keep in mind, should she abandon her residence or stay outside the US for longer than allowed per year, she would lose her green card, and you'll have to go through the process all over again of attempting to get a tourist visa and all of that if she wanted to visit the US again, and would have to go through the whole IR1 process again should you both re-decide to move to the US

To determined the gross income needed to meet the poverty guidelines you only need to look at the I-864P poverty guidelines 125% column for the number of people you will be sponsoring (plus yourself) ..

No math needed to calculate the 125% amount   >  https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p

Yes she could choose to live somewhere else later on, and some do after making a good and honest attempt at actually living here. But what was the intent in obtaining the green card in the first place? Because if we start obtaining green cards with the purpose of just visiting someone instead of actually living there, we start treading into territory that sounds a lil' bit fraudy, which the USCIS doesn't like, and no one on this forum would certainly condone.

@missileman why bring it up? Well because of trumps thoughts about immigration while he’ comes from a long line of immigrants as well as being married to one. It’s hypocrisy isn’t it? In general , all these regulations and laws that are coming and are already in place are just a little harsh and ugly if you ask me. Sure you can say , it’s for our countries  good, we need this, it’s what makes America, I understand why we need some rules , but I have a resentment.... it’s not about race but the government makes it about race. It is in fact about race. The human race , it’s about human beings that should have the right to come to America just as your great great great grand daddy did..... it’s the reason you were born In The USA. Do you know how degrading and embarrassing it is to be rejected because a government assumes you want to live there country?...when the person just wants to be with their spouse / family.  Especially if you make twice the amount of a average Americans yearly salary ?If you read my original thread before this one, you will know what I’m trying to accomplish. Before you answer that , we know the green card is not intended for a tourist visa but my dad wants to meet my wife before he dies. So I’m doing what I have to do . I brought race into it because trump is acting like a racist . Not sure why your confused .

This final rule supersedes the 1999 Interim Field Guidance on Deportability and Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds and goes into effect at 12:00 a.m. Eastern on Oct. 15, 60 days from the date of publication in the Federal Register. USCIS will apply the public charge inadmissibility final rule only to applications and petitions postmarked (or, if applicable, submitted electronically) on or after the effective date. Applications and petitions already pending with USCIS on the effective date of the rule (postmarked and accepted by USCIS) will be adjudicated based on the 1999 Interim Guidance.   https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-announces-final-rule-enforcing-long-standing-public-charge-inadmissibility-law

While I do not personally agree with the policy change when it comes to credit scores and some other information, as I find it delves too deeply into the citizen's personal history, and liberty to make stupid or positive decisions, and there are many examples of why credit score is not much of an indicator of anything... all I can say is that immigration is a big step.. a really big step. Most of us have fought long and hard and done what it takes to bring their spouses to this country while enduring many hardships along the way. Such more aggressive policy changes will not fix many things with our system and will certainly increase wait times, paperwork burdens etc. But that is for a different thread...

The policy language is written not in the most clear manner, likely purposefully as it would increase greater discretion to officers reviewing cases, but can and is causing a lot of panic and confusion - also likely not needed. All we know is that the better your life is in hand - income, credit history, job prospects, and health insurance - the greater positive weight will be given to the case in a favorable manner. It is not really clear if a person will be denied if their credit history is small or none, if they have had prior bankruptcy, or what sort of health insurance they have, because we've not reached that point yet. If the government requires income you find a way to get that income, you twist yourself in knots to get the paperwork, and you do what you have to do - because it is your responsibility to do so and to prove self sufficiency. We have seen time and time again couples not even thinking about health insurance or providing their spouse access to medical care.. some were realizing the responsibility and others just didn't care. Now, it's my opinion it is not the government's job to make people be responsible with their finances or health care - but it is their responsibility to ensure that prior rules are being followed regarding public charge. Some of the rule's goal is to do that, despite my disagreement with the methods used.

You will need to ensure everything is in hand financially and carefully file this paperwork, ideally before the October deadline or it is possible you could have a lot more additional issues at hand, though we do not know for sure. If you intend on using a joint sponsor, please ensure that their financials are also in hand and that they understand the seriousness of actually being on the hook with a binding contract.

Yep. It will all have to be noted on the new forms. Bankruptcy, credit score which you will have to obtain for them, additional info regarding the credit history of the beneficiary, and even health insurance.

I will finish my petition today, at what point will they ask me for my divorce decree's? I was married 3 times before, my first wife disappeared and I filed dissolution of marriage, second one didn't even last a week, we filed dissolution or annulment, first two happened when I was still in college in the 90's... Id have to dig these two up somehow online because I am living in Bali currently. I do however have my last divorce decree with me because we needed that to get married here in Bali. Do I really have to mention the first two? I know for a fact they were both discharged. Anybody know some good online sources to obtain old divorce decree's. There are tons on google but some are BS.

Sounds to me like you're on track.

Credit/bankruptcy status is not considered.  Current income is king.  Length of marriage does not impact approval per se, although if you did wait two years, it would be an IR-1, which means a ten year GC from the get-go.  I agree that filing tomorrow vs in October will have no bearing on your case, as the interview will take place up to one year from now.

Continuing to read as much as you can here on VJ and ask questions as they arise is your best bet to avoiding delays and pitfalls along the way.

    Good luck!

If you don’t have an income then of course you need a cosponsor. Please be aware of the new changes that appear to be taking place in October as others have mentioned as your case -no income, property etc raises risk of your wife becoming a public charge.
Any marriage has to be reported- it’s not good going into this process thinking maybe you can hide some things.
Also, don’t forget applying for a permanent resident means the USA will be her permanent home; it’s not meant to be used as an alternative to a tourist visa.
The guides at the top of the page are very helpful and you can see the steps you need to follow for the spousal visa

your wife making an income in the US doesn’t affect the sponsorship requirements-that falls on you the US citizen. Additionally don’t forget she will be required to file taxes on her foreign income once she’s an LPR.

I think it would be.a good idea to acquire all the dissolution paperwork before moving too fast. As said by others, this must be included with the petition. You’d be surprised how long this will actually take especially since you are not here in the US to track them down. It can be a complicated process. Good luck.

Yes you must include all of them. You will include copies of all your divorce decrees in your petition packet. You cannot leave out or just not mention information on previous marriages as this will be considered withholding and purposeful omitting of information
