Posting our experience at the Miami Passport Agency.
As part of "National Passport Awareness" month, this location was open on Saturday. We found out like 10 days ago and called the automated line to make an appointment.
Our appointment was at 9AM and we drove for couple of hours to reach Miami from Tampa. Parking fees at the OMNI building is outrageous. You can park at the College Station public parking garage and then take the Metromover to the passport office.
The security guards ask people who have appointments and don't have an appointment to form separate lines. They ask for your confirmation number so make sure you write down when you call the automated line.
We were like the 10th person in line when we reached the counter. We talked to the clerk and spoke about the immediate travel need that we had, the distance we travelled etc and that we are requesting same-day passport. The clerk immediately said they cannot accommodate but we politely let the clerk know our needs and after a good 10 minutes clerk talked to their supervisor and got approval to do same-day passport.
They checked our documents, re-checked it, checked the flight itinerary, asked us to take Oath and then said will process it and asked us to show up at 1PM to pick up our passports.
We showed up at 1PM and after about 10 minutes were called and picked up our passports. At this time, there were people still waiting in line and the room probably had like 150-200 people...
Overall, it was a semi-positive experience. I was hoping that after paying $195 for our passports, we expected quick service and it's apparent that unless you push for same-day passport(provided you really need it), they will try to suggest that, they can overnight in about 5 business days when you pay the additional expedited fee otherwise, you'll get it back in 3-4 weeks.
$110 - Passport Book $60 - Expedited at Agency $25 - Execution Fee In the end, If I needed a same-day passport, it's worth the drive to Miami.....

Both my parents had their interview today. Interview was at 8.30am and we arrived around 8am.
The USCIS office has plenty of parking spaces.
No food or water allowed. Cell phone are to be muted or in vibrate mode.
Once you pass through security, you then arrive at the receptionist who provides a token number and you'll be called based on that number. Parents were given different token numbers.
They were called by two different USCIS officers for separate interviews.
The interview process took about 15-20 minutes and both had positive experience.
They were asked to verify their name, phone number and address. USCIS officers went over most of the questions on the N-400 application and specifically focussed on the ones we had answered YES.
Did you ever not file taxes? we answered YES and provided a written statement and the officers wanted to know why we did not file taxes etc.
My mom had a slightly different experience. The officer who interviewed asked her about her 800+ days outside the US and several trips she had taken, wanted to know why etc and at the end seemed convinced that Mom had strong ties to US.
Once their interview was over and they were approved, both requested expedited Oath due to impending travel.
They were asked to wait in the waiting area and after about 15 minutes were told as there was an Oath scheduled this coming Friday(9/26) they were being assigned to that. Shortly after that we got a printout of the Oath letters.
We were out by 10AM.

Also, masonOHIOn400 had his application expedited for personal health reasons and if you take time to review the entire thread you will know why and trying to accuse a US citizen of false accusation can land you in trouble.

Am starting this thread as I don't see a passport tracker and this tracker will be used for all 2014 applicants.

When did you father apply and when was his interview ?

That's a lot of evidence.
Did you have a lot of travel in the last 3 years? Did you include tax transcripts? did you file taxes jointly ?
Unless you provide more details on your case, it would be hard to help you with documents needed.

No worries. Am trying to learn the process as well.In general, I think finger prints, being in-line, getting the interview letter, taking oath etc. everything are different stages before you become a US citizen and USCIS created it for some reason.
I understand your point - how does being in-line or not help anyone, it simply says you have moved one step closer to you becoming a Citizen and if you are not in-line, you may never be scheduled for an interview. Again, there maybe exception but we are talking as a rule in general.
When I say early, it's based on filing 90 days early.
Oh the *freak* thing is when you know that everyone who applied with you from your local office are US Citizens and you are still waiting...

Being anxious could be a good thing. it'll tell you if your application is moving with everyone or if you need to take action if you deviate. I certainly want to know if am *stuck* and without tracking, I wouldn't know...
Anyway, it was only a suggestion and was going to be more work for me

Getting In-Line I think really depends on lots of factors and this is my speculation since am really not sure how it's determined.
1. Your background check.
2. Your name check
3. Workload in your local office
4. Name Change
Don't think it depends on your anniversary or Green card or Fingerprint dates...

For Part 12, just the usual signature.
Also, if you do write N/A by hand make sure you are using a pen with BLACK ink. Good luck!

Alix, am sending a cover letter. It's not needed but good when you list the documents you are sending for your own reference as well.

Credit card statements not required nor the utility bills. vacation trips and pictures also aren't required. You are good with the current set of documents.

If you meant tax transcripts then open the envelope and attach them to the application package.
You can always order the tax transcripts again for free, if needed.
