Just a reminder to everyone receiving their EAD/AP combo cards especially their GCs please make several copies of your card front and back ensure at least one copy is in .pdf format and put away for safe keeping.

I love 432 hz sleep music playlist on Spotify. Also, some good meditation apps for a great sleep are “guided minds” and “let’s meditate”. There are different tracks you can listen to. They practice different breathing techniques while trying to sleep. The first time I listened to “Deep relaxation” on the “let’s meditate” app, I had the deepest and most relaxing sleep I’ve had in years.

    1. My wife said the exact same thing about Health insurance, you are definitely not alone!

The more your travel insurance looks like a "traditional" US plan (will get to what that means in a second), the more likely it is to make the USCIS count it positively, but it's tough to give a guarantee.

Do you pay a monthly fee, and is there a clear list of benefits/what is covered? Critically, is there a limit to your coverage under the plan? Basically USCIS wants to make sure that if some kind of event occurs that requires you to pay substantial $ in medical bills, that it will not bankrupt you and taxpayers will not have to cover your treatment. Whether your travel insurance will satisfy them is borderline. If the plan only covers a small portion of costs, probably not that helpful to your case.

You can sign up for a plan to carry you from now until you receive your benefits via the "Healthcare Marketplace" https://www.healthcare.gov/  This marketplace was established when it was decided that every American needed access to a certain base level of insurance, and whatever plan you pick from here is almost sure to give the USCIS officer reviewing your file a positive mark for the insurance section.

If the temporary expense isn't a problem (these plans are more expensive than you will pay for coverage through your employer), I'd consider it. Normally there are all sorts of rules about when you can actually enroll in one of these plans, but we happen to be in the annual "open enrollment" window (until December 15th), so you're automatically eligible and don't need to worry about "qualifying events" or anything like that. I believe coverage is billed monthly, and you can cancel at any time. Honestly, given how insane even the most routine medical costs can be in this country + the fact that we're in the middle of a pandemic, signing up may not be the worst decision you've ever made!

For 2., this is the requirement for submitting a foreign tax transcript, from https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-944instr-pc.pdf :

The "if" language doesn't apply to everyone -- those people are only instructed to send US transcripts.

    Hopefully soon!

Ours was delivered by FedEx and signed for by R. Shannon yesterday (11/17) morning. This morning our USCIS account updated to show:

On November 18, 2020, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS, Receipt Number XXX. USCIS has begun working on your case again. We will send you a decision or notify you if we need something from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Was very surprised. Someone who submitted in October took over two weeks to see their status change.

Correct, not being subsidized is part of the determination of whether the insurance coverage is a "heavily" positive factor, instead of just "positive".@GetOutside and @Toby_HB I should have flagged this as one thing to watch for if selecting a plan from the marketplace.

As far as appropriateness and guidance for evaluating health insurance plans, USCIS says the following: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-g-chapter-9#S-A-4

So if you can financially afford it, I would strongly consider obtaining marketplace insurance, because there's no telling how USCIS is going to decide these cases, e.g. they haven't said anything like "we'll approve applications that have less than X number of negative factors". It's up to the IO.

I have 2 questions for everyone that I never really got clarification for while I was working on the i944 over the summer:

    1) I have a year long travel insurance plan that expires March 2021. Will this suffice for “health insurance” I944 requirement? I have a full time job lined up with benefits for whenever I get my EAD. It seems silly to get a short term insurance plan before I start working at my job. (I don’t even know if it’s possible to get a short term plan here. Health insurance in this country seriously confuses me, I have a hard time comprehending it all.)

    2) do I need to send in my foreign tax return from this year? The directions state to send foreign tax returns- correct? Just curious why some people on here say they only send US tax return. This confuses me.

Mine changed to this status also today. But I’m curious if it’s for i944 or not like @Bigtuna and @ek1357. It’s always nice knowing they’re actually working on my case.

Not sure how trumps the cause of people with PD’s as far back as 2010 not yet having their GC but ok... did it occur to you that each year more and more people are applying for immigration benefits and that that might be one reason as to why things have slowed....  what about the fact that USCIS isn’t actually a government run service that it’s paid for by applicant and that congress (not trump) refused to provide them with covid financial relief in addition to stopping them from increasing fees that would of helped them keep staff and/or hire more staff to help with processing applications? Nope, just trumps fault 🙄

That was one thing I was stumped on when I was actually working on the i944 months ago. I never got a clear answer for whether it was only US tax return or applicants foreign tax return. I’m hoping someone will chime in as I’m waiting for the i944 RFIE as well.

My wife and I filed in late September 2019 and have had our biometrics. Recently just filed to renew the AP/EAD as that expires in early January and don't want to lose the ability to travel if need be. Still nothing from the Sac office related to an interview. Getting rather annoyed, but then Covid came and so I just have to let it go!

GetOutside reacted to Jacobo in August 2020 - AOS Filers
Apparently yes. @Cilllah got the bio appt in the mail before the possible RFIE for the I-944. Also remember, when you file a case, it is first forwarded to a service center. There, they check the eligibility of the applicant, do background checks (During this time you might get your biometrics appointment), and also check that all the supporting documents are complete. If one document is missing or unreadable, they will issue a RFIE. Afterwards, the service center sends the application to a local USCIS field office. At the field office, USCIS keeps processing the case; it is here where a RFE can be issued. If everything is under control and seems kosher, they schedule an interview; if not, they issue a RFE or other notices.

OK let's not confuse OP with subtle responses although technically correct.
Leaving while AP is processing is a bad idea as the act of LEAVING will be considered abandoning the i-485 petition. Wait until you receive your AP card. Once you receive the notification that the card is in production, you may be safe to schedule travel for 10 days later or so, but safest is to have it in hand.

Just a bit of advise: don’t drive yourself crazy folks. Maybe lay off this thread for a bit. Stop checking it multiple times a day- it does your stress hormones no good. Try not to compare your timeline to others so much. If someone who filed after you gets bumped up in the process sooner than you, it’s okay. Be happy for them. That just means uscis is moving along at their normal snail pace and you will soon be next.

You are with your partner. We are all so lucky for that. You turned in your paperwork, congrats! That is HUGE!!! Now focus your energy on your new lives together instead of obsessing over something that is now out of your control.

Can you imagine being a k1 filer during this time and not knowing when you’ll actually see your partner next because of the pandemic? THAT WOULD SUCK. Now after you read this, get off your phone and hug your partner. Tell them you appreciate them. Take a deep breath. Relax. It’s only been a month at the most for all of us in this thread. We all have a long road ahead of us. Everything will fall into place when it’s supposed to. I promise.

Thanks! I was thinking of trying neutrogena, Sephora, ulta brand, and elf. Usually I don’t mind spending money on beauty products but for some reason I’m wanting to try drug store prices on this one. Maybe because I don’t know if I’ll use it often ? I’ve never worn a tinted moisturizer but am wanting to try a less coverage look.
