We have our interview on Thursday. Equal parts nervous & excited! We're compiling all of our documentation today. For my I-864, I am brining a copy of what I submitted last year, copies of the supporting documents, AND updated documents (latest tax return, W2, and current paystubs).

Is that right? I don't fill out a new I-864, right?

    Thanks!

We had our interview at San Bernardino last week. It was pretty straight forward, everyone from the security officers to the interviewing officer were very nice. We received the "Case Approved" the next day. Today in the mail we are receiving the official approval letter in the mail. What is the process after that, how long until the Green Card comes?

So, back to the interview. I wish we could provide more helpful advice. Our interview was pretty simple & straightforward. We were only asked how we met. And then everything from there was just general chit chat while he cross-checked everything from our IOE application with the paper documents he had in front of him. We went prepared with a TON of paperwork & proof. It was all organized and labeled by category. He just took a few pieces of updated info from it (like latest tax return). We talked about Disney for a while and then that was it. He said "you're good to go, should receive the green card in a few weeks".

I think it helped that we have been together for 6 years and married for 2. We also got all the way through to "Documentally Qualified" on the CR1 route before switching to AOS due to my husband being stuck in the US after he came down to visit me late February last year. So I think since we already had several background checks done that may have helped? I don't know. But he's getting the 10yr GC which is really great news for us. It's been a long 2 year process and I'm really excited that we'll be able to bring my husband's stuff down from Canada soon!

Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting. I hope it goes very fast for you!

Yup we also had about 4 weeks notice. I would find the time now figuring out where you want to get the medical and getting your past vaccination records in order etc. I used https://www.easyime.com/uscis-immigration-doctors-zipcode-20009 to book mine.

Submit a case enquiry FORGET the outside of processing one go straight for “letter not received” or “card not received in mail” got my case moving along fast.. 10 months heard nothing then within a 1 months of pushing the other two my EAD is getting printed and my interview is scheduled. Worth a try at least.

It just seems odd that it hasn’t moved from the NBC to service center after almost a year. Once we get to service center it could be another year still. It’s very disheartening since my husband can’t bring just stuff down until he gets his green card.

I know we’re all going through this, so I’m just venting not complaining 😊

Yeah it's just so frustrating. We paid so much money to have stuff shipped here and now it seems like we have to wait for his green card. Which wouldn't be too much of an issue except there has been no movement on it since July. The last update we got says "Biometrics Scheduled" on July 28th. He has had his biometrics taken and they confirmed there are no issues. But they also said it's "within normal processing time" so they can't look into why it's been on hold since then. Especially since 99.9% of people go from "Biometrics Scheduled" to "Biometrics taken" almost immediately.

I feel so bad for my husband. He has already been without his stuff for over a year. And we thought he'd be able to bring it down with his current situation based on what we have read. But now it looks like there is no possible way to bring any of it down for the foreseeable future. It just breaks my heart that he moved away from all of his friends & family and left all of his stuff behind just to visit me for my birthday. Then COVID happened and he ended up staying here because of border closures which is why we changed from the CR1 visa to the AOS. I never thought he'd be without all of his belongings for this long. It breaks my heart

My husband’s AOS status has been stuck on “biometrics scheduled” since July and he also received his EAD/AP. We tried chasing on it but we were told we can’t until it’s considered late processing...so December.

We are in a very similar boat and it definitely sucks. We tried many times to contact USCIS, when we finally got through they said it’s within normal processing and they can’t do anything. Ours still says “Biometrics scheduled” even though he got his EAD already.

Is anyone else struggling to get an SSN? My husband called the SSA office again and they told him that he would need to get a job offer first then they will work with him to get an SSN. But he’s had 2 interviews so far and both didn’t work our because they weren’t comfortable with him not having an SSN. The SSA offices in California have been closed since March. I’m not sure what to do at this point.

He checked that he wanted an SSN automatically assigned when he applied for the EAD, but he never got one. On top of that I need him to get an SSN so I can add him to benefits at work. It’s all getting very frustrating. There’s no reason the SSA offices can’t open if other government offices have been able to.

Ours was like that and it didn’t include the AP. A little over a month later we got the AP document (not a card). So it can go either way.

My husband got his AP today. They sent him his EAD a few weeks ago but without the AP. So he called to ask why and they said that he could call back after 45 days to chase. Well, literally two days later his AP status changed to “approved”.

Unfortunately he didn’t get the combo card, so now when he travels he has to bring a piece of paper that says he’s allowed back in and that paper will get stamped.

His AOS status still says “biometrics scheduled” even though he had that done on August 12th.

He had his biometrics taken on August 12th for both the AOS & EAD. But nothing was applied to the AOS and now it’s looking like there’s an issue.

We actually want the AP more than the EAD. So I’m bummed that one is at a standstill.

my husband has been trying to talk to a tier 2 for a full week now. They keep saying they’ll schedule a call back but that never happens.

Last time he talked to someone they told him that his case had a weird comment they’ve never seen before.

I’m just frustrated because his EAD card came without the AP, no progress has been made in his AP. And his AOS still says biometrics scheduled. It seems like they’re rushing to get through cases and I can only guess a lot of mistakes will be made along the way. Which is going to make talking to a tier 2 even tougher.

We didn’t have most of this. We were married and filing for the CR1. My husband was visiting me when COVID happened and we decided to do the AOS instead. Since he was just visiting, we didn’t have joint bank accounts, he couldn’t be on my lease, I couldn’t put him in my insurance, etc. We weren’t really living together until we got the NOA1 from his AOS. And now that he has his EAD and can get his SSN, I can start adding him to other things.

We filed with evidence of our relationship (Plane tickets from trips back & forth, vacations together, photos from our wedding, photos with family members at different holidays, etc) it helped that we dated for 3 years before getting married.

But anyone can add anyone to bank accounts really, so it helps to have strong evidence of your relationship as a whole.

Photos are good, but you don’t need 80. They just need to be good ones taken over time, in different locations, and with other people (showing that people know of your relationship). Try to include proof of visits, maybe some samples of emails, and if you have a bank account together or any joint financials those do go a long way. But if you don’t have them yet, it’s not a deal breaker. Just make sure what you provided shows a strong & real relationship.

    And congratulations & good luck!
