Mind, Aug 6th I sent, and 16th I received a new passport. It had two weekends in between, too. I think expedited service from USPS is pretty fast enough. They scheduled delivery for Sunday, the 17th, but changed it to Saturday, the 16th, in the morning. This is USPS's fastest service.
Timeline:
Feb 13 – Submitted case online,
Feb 13 – Received NOA1 with case #,
Feb 13 – Received biometric reuse letter.
May 27 - Interview Scheduled for 15 July 2025 (PDF copy in USCIS account)
July 15 - Approved - Ceremony letter was handed to me on the spot.
Aug 5 - Ceremony completed.
Aug 6 - Expedited application for passport submitted.
Aug 16 - Passport received.

I outlined my experience above. The checkbox on N-400 did not update my status with SSA. Others who naturalized after me also experienced the same, and they posted their updates in that attached thread.
If you don't receive SS card within a month, you'd have to go to SSA in person, just like I described.
USCIS is not responsible for citizenship status with SSA. They send information to SSA, but SSA have internal policy that prevents sending new card without visit.
Which form they were passing around? SS-5?
Keep us posted!

General Provision 5-Year
Applied Jan 21st 2025
Actively reviewed: Feb 5th 2025
Interview scheduled: June 24th 2025
Interview: July 28th 2025
Well, that’s a wrap! 6/6 on the civics test, followed by a solid 30-40 minutes of questioning for the actual interview. Attended an oath ceremony 3hrs after interview, would have been sooner but delayed due to the lunch break.
Following day I attended a passport appointment that I’d made about 10 days prior, in case my application was approved and same-day oath was offered. Made sure to get the earliest time slot at 7am. Didn’t fancy standing around outside in the sun and FAR more people turn up to later appointments, I noticed once I’d left. Needed two passports urgently, provided documents required and they were ready within 48hrs. Painless experience overall.
Had to laugh at the comical portraits in the federal building though. It’s like an alternate universe seeing the president giving a WWE-style scowl to all who enter.
Good luck to all, and don’t sweat the test/interview, mine go over test questions in the car on the way over and again in the waiting room to stay fresh. I did get into an argument with ChatGPT in the waiting room as it was adamant that Adam Schiff was a Representitive.
Finally, don’t expect any fancy ceremony in LA or any video from anyone in government congratulating you for becoming a citizen (the screen was off). Fantastically underwhelming experience and glad the process is over with.

I had my citizenship interview yesterday at the West Palm Beach office having applied on February 6. The interview was very straightforward- he asked me 6 civics test questions to begin with and then a couple of questions about my marriage and then questions like had I ever been arrested, voted in a US election, belonged to an outlawed organization etc. The officer then gave me the oath there and then. I then waited about 30 minutes to get my naturalization certificate and briefed by another official as to what to do next e.g apply for a US passport. I'm now off to apply for my passport! Good luck everyone.

Just had our interview. Detroit office. Approved. Still waiting on oath date.
As usual, prepared for anything with stacks of supporting documents and didnt need anything beyond ID and letter

My wife got her interview date finally. Detroit office. We filed under the 3 year marriage so I was worried it would take longer vs the residency.

Yes, correct. It’s 3 years as a permanent resident (rec’d green card) including the 3 years of marriage while a permanent resident if filing to naturalize through marriage.
The OP hasn’t clarified whether they’re married to a USC and for how long. If they adjusted status another way, it would be 5 years as a green card holder.

ksh9256 got a reaction from Mackay in Traveling on Extension Letter?
We're out of the country and flying back to the US tonight. I just added 4 years to the GC expiration date for online checkin. Will get to airport early to double check. I'm more concerned because we booked in my wife's maiden name.

ksh9256 got a reaction from donker99 in Can I make this trip on an extension letter?
We just flew back from the Philippines with my wife's extension letter. Korean air from Manila through Seoul to Detroit. Korea shouldn't be an issue. The KA agent only asked for her expired GC and letter in Manila. She also printed our boarding pass for the connecting flight in Seoul. No issues. We had to scan her PH passport in Korea to get through a gate and into security but that was it. You should't be going through immigration there if you stay in the airport. All of her tickets were in her maiden name which matched her PH passport. They didn't even ask for our marriage certificate.

I added 4 years to the GC expiry date when I tried online check-in. Her GC has already been expired for a year so maybe their system flagged it. But I had to go to the counter anyway to check luggage so no time lost.

Can't edit my previous post but wanted to provide an update.
We traveled from Manila to Korea on Korean Air but had been unable to check-in online. Had to be done at the airport. Korean Air gave us no trouble at the airport. Only needed GC and extension letter. They printed our boarding pass for the flight from Korea to the US as well. Flight from Korea to US was on Delta. No issues anywhere. My wife had to scan her PH passport in Korea, and show her GC and letter to immigration here in the US. I'm not sure if it matters but our flight from Korea to the US was direct to our home state.

I did the Utah online marriage back in 2020. No issues with USCIS. My wife got her green card this year.
