  1. Is there any advantage to doing walk-in biometrics earlier than the appointment date the USCIS has set? My appointment is for next week (5/16) but I am free this week to do it.

    Anil

Nope, no advantage. Biometrics is just taking fingerprints and a photo, the N-400 process is what it is, and after biometrics you have an interview. Doing a walk-in doesn't change the process at all.

And not all ACSs allow walk-ins, it's a ####### shoot. If you have to travel any distance and get turned away it would be a disadvantage.

  2. Hi guys,

I am also a April filer. I just received my Notice of Action, which has no mention of Biometrics. It just says, wait till hear from us regarding your interview. Does that mean, no biometrics for me or should I wait for another notice regarding Biometrics ?

You'll get another notice for biometrics.
  3. Before the oath ceremony, you will be giving a form to complete. It asks you if there has been any changes in situation after your naturalization interview and one of the question is whether you've been married since the interview? So if you are worried, just check yes on that form and you will be fine. Congrat

But he wasn't married between the interview and the oath ceremony...he was married BEFORE the interview.

I don't see how adding further lies to his situation could possibly help.

  4. bilo86, at your interview were ever asked if your marital status had changed since submitting the N-400? Are you saying that you just didn't mention it or are you saying that you lied to the IO?

If they didn't ask you if anything had changed then I don't see there being any problem, just make sure from now on that you tell the truth. Whether or not you have paperwork to prove your marriage is irrelevent. Are you married requires either a yes or no answer, it doesn't matter whether or not you can prove it.

  5. In other news, I'm getting excited about biometrics. Normally, I hate wasting the day BUT this year I've decided we're going to actually do things in town rather than just "get in, get out". So, this year we're going to go to World Market! There is a World Market in Houston where we used to live but the closest one here in Iowa is Des Moines so I was online yesterday making a "shopping list" :)

I'm getting tim tams, caramel crowns, maltesers and a few other things. Wish they sold cordial. Still need to order that from an Aussie food site online :)

    Have fun! :D

Not only is my ACS 10 minutes away, my nearest World Market is just 5 minutes away. :P

  6. I am pretty sure even if you do a 5 year filing you need to prove you filed.

Can you provide a source for that? Even the VJ Guides state that they're only required at the time for filing if you're filing based on marriage to a US Citizen.

If you've ever not paid your taxes, or not filed while being a PR, you have to send some documentation pertaining to that. If you have filed and paid your taxes you just need to take your transcripts to the interview.

  7. Are you sure you need to show proof?

I know it asked about filing and evading

But it doesnt state to provide proof

No, it doesn't say anywhere that you need to show proof. I believe you need to take three years of tax transcripts to your interview, but there's no need to send it with the N-400.

If you're filing based on three years of marriage to a US Citizen then you do need to send them as part of that, but not everyone is filing under that category.

  8. Hi everyone. My window opens on Friday so I thought I'd better start looking into what I need to get done. According to the instructions I just need to fill out the form, photocopy my GC, and get two passport photos. Of course I need to write out a very large check too! :)

I'm not in any crazy rush to get my application sent off but I'll get it in the mail some time this month.
