  1. If you do try for the B visa and it is denied it won't affect your CR-1 application at all, it will just create potential problems on any future VWP visits.

And what you're proposing she does to keep busy is considered 'work' and not allowed under the VWP or B visas.

I can understand your frustration but like Boiler pointed out, there is no 'let's see how things work out between us' visa.

On the other hand, you could spend 6 months in the UK without a visa.

  2. It isn't the case in Britain. Shelters here work entirely on the premise that a woman and her children are in danger.

Every single shelter in Britain? Without exception? Or are you just generalising?

And like Happy Bunny says, what do British shelters have to do with this anyway? You can't tell someone not to bother going to a shelter in the US because a British one wouldn't accept them under the same circumstances. What does that have to do with anything??

Some of your 'advice' on this site could prove very dangerous if it was followed.

I'm beginning to think that you're one of those people on this site who just has to state their opinion on something and offer advice whether it's right or wrong - you just like to get your 2c in!

  3. Welcome to VJ. :D There's a sub-forum here for people from the UK if you haven't found it yet.

I don't want to immediately burst your bubble but your fiance should think very carefully about applying for a B2 visa through London. They rarely issue them to people who are eligible to use the VWP and if the visa is refused she will have to declare it on any future visits and will likely end up in secondary.

Just something to think very carefully about.

  4. I believe that companies who import a significant amount of meat products have import permits so they are fine. It does mean though that you won't be able to mail any Felix over in advance or take any with you in your luggage.

  5. We'll have 12 tins that I'll send on ahead of me, then will bring extra (as long as there's space) in the suitcase. Hoping to end up with 16 tins in total. 1 tin lasts her 2 - 3 days, so we should have a supply of at least 32 days. That's enough time for her to settle, and for us to introduce the new food gradually. And, if it does take a while to find a brand she can tolerate, it gives us room to do so.

Will you be allowed to bring it in? I had a feeling meat products weren't allowed so I did a quick check and found this.

  6. Fill in the white I-94 and the blue(ish) customs form. When you get to the arrivals hall have your brown envelope in your hand and someone will hopefully direct you to the right line. If no-one does, go to the visitors line.

  7. My dad was in prison for fighting when he was younger. No rape or arson or terrorist crimes. Just some fighting when he was younger.

What was the exact offence? He would not have been charged with 'fighting', it would be something along the lines of 'assault'. Some assaults are CIMTs and some aren't, so you will need to know exactly what he was convicted of.

  8. I hardly ever see you in OT so perhaps that's why? Or hey, maybe we just perceive things differently.. it's been known to happen :)

I don't post in OT but I often venture in there if I move a post from another forum. And I agree that we may perceive things differently - I'm neither a friend or an enemy of this person so I like to think that I can look at their posts objectively - and I honestly believe that they allow their personal feelings to dictate how they moderate.

Anyway, it's late here on the east coast and time for my bed. :)
