The AP people normally get excited for is the Non-Immigrant AP. So your case will turn from Immigrant to Non immigrant then from ready to AP to Issued. When people see non immigrant AP then it means they are in process of printing the Visa etc and they will most likely see Issued soon. In this case I assume the AP you're experiencing is due to them verifying the supplemental questions. Theres no timeline on when they finish completing that but I can try to locate that person that went through that in Beirut and see if theirs has completed. They had their interview 2/20. Or if you search in your regional subforum you may find others also in the same situation that can shed some light.

Just to clarify, the marriage certificate is a legal name change document allowing either party to adopt the family name of the other party regardless as to how it is structured.  It does not allow anyone to change their given name(s).

To the OP, Michigan is the same way, there is no specific section showing a family name change, but my wife filed all her AOS forms using my family name as she chose to adopt it, there was no issues.

As to the SSA, we tried to get my wife’s card in her married name, but like many others, we had no luck.  We decided that it wasn’t worth the fight since the SSN was already issued and we could change it once the GC was issued which is what we did.

Some states do not issue MCs in any other name than the maiden name. BUT your surname name (as the husband) is listed on it, correct?
Your surname does not have to be listed on the MC as attached to your wife's name in any way. Your surname being listed on the MC means she can elect to use your surname as her new married surname.
The same would apply if you, as the husband decided to take on your wife's surname as your new married name. You could because her surname is listed on the MC.
The same would apply if you both (or one of you) decided to hyphenate your surnames. Both your surname and her surname are listed on the MC so you could both (or one of you) choose to elect to use both of your surnames but hyphenate them simply because both names appear on the MC.
What it comes down to is this: If the name appears on the MC, either one of you can elect to use that name as your married name. A Marriage Certificate gives you the legal option to elect to use any name listed on it as your new married surname.
    Say if your MC says:
    John Vanderfran
    Mary Smith
...with her maiden name being Smith.
She can elect to be called Mary Vanderfran or she can elect to still be called Mary Smith.
You can elect to be called John Smith.
And both or one of you can choose to be known as Vanderfran-Smith and the other Smith-Vanderfran. Her new surname does not have to already appear on the MC as her name. Those names being ON the MC mean she can do whatever she likes.

As for changing the name, it is much different for immigrants that what you have been taught. Immigrants cant simply update documents in their new name. They first need legal immigrant status.
The official "changing of the name" occurs first through immigration for immigrants. You do so by applying for I485, I765 and I131 in the name you have elected to take. Once your first immigrant benefit is approved (whichever comes first out of EAD or GC) you will then have official immigrant status in the married name and you can update everything else.

No, never ever do that. If you want to change o your spouse's name the that's  the name you use on your AOS application. Changing the name on the greencard later on will cost over $500.

You always use your legal name. If you want to use your spouse's name after the wedding, then that's your legal name no matter if it's  on the actually marriage certificate or not.

It is the same thing in New Jersey . Our marriage certificate has my wife's maiden name written on it . She was able to use my last name on her SS card, DMV, IRS but when we filed for forms I 485, I 751 and eventually N400 my wife used her maiden name since we thought we had to follow what was written on the marriage certificate and her Phil passport.   If we had known at that time that it was OK to use my last name we would have  avoided the hassle that we are facing right now.  My wife recently passed both I 751 and N400 interviews.  On our N400 form we requested  a change of name (i.e. my wife to use my last name) . However we were told by the interviewing IO,  in Santa Clara county , Ca, they don't have any judicial oath taking so if my wife wants to take up my last name on her nat cert we have to go thru  the local court first then re apply for a new naturalization certificate ($$$) . She still can use my last name on the other legal documents per the IO . However  for  her naturalization certificate it will have to be whatever is written on the marriage certificate as this is the document that USCIS will follow.

Yes that’s my understanding. Once you have green card then change your name with social security Administration, drivers license etc. I can’t think of a single thing, need or necessity that you can’t get, obtain or accomplished being married but still use your birth name for the short time period during filing AOS and greencard.

You complete all forms with your current name. There is no "single name" and "married name". If you alter your name via marriage, that new name is now your current name. The marriage certificate is a legal name change document.

Whatever name you put on the I-485 is the name they will issue the green card in. Changing the green card name afterwards is performed via an I-90, which is an unnecessary several hundred dollar cost and added wait here.
Same for AP and EAD - they will issue it using the name on the I-131 and I-765 respectively.

PA does the same - it does not list any name changes. The certificate is still valid evidence of a legal name change, and was recognized by USCIS just fine.
There are limits on the allowable name changes via an MC (i.e. you can't change your name to anything you want...check state laws for specifics but the common changes like adoption of a surname are fine).

Well, as an update, Kristina flew in Saturday evening, no problems. She received passport in hand Friday, flew in the next day. The flight was rough, it was her first ever, but all in all not too bad. Lots of tears on her part, but that's normal for her anytime she gets stressed. For anyone transferring in JFK, be aware that international to national flights must go through immigration, take their bags, take a train to another terminal, turn bags back in, then go back through security. make sure your non English speaking spouses are prepped well. Also, her immigration interview was conducted in English, even though she doesn't really speak it, but she made it through. They basically just asked her why she was here. She stated "to marry  Justin" while shaking and nervous, then they laughed, told her to calm down she was fine, then stamped her passport and she was on her way. Before the interview, they asked why she didn't speak English and she said "because I was stupid in school and I didn't pay attention enough" and they all laughed and the officer said "I appreciate your honesty".

On another note, she arrived here raving about how amazing her travel through JFK was, stating "never in my life have I seen so many happy people everywhere, everyone in America is so happy. When I cried, 2 different grandma's came to me, one bought me water, I tried to pay her but she wouldn't take the money. everywhere I went everyone helped me so much without even asking. America is not like Ukraine, it's not like Europe, people here, they are nice, they help, they are happy to help you".  I'll let that reflect onto everyone here, because even though she really didn't know it, even before leaving she had already received help from dozens of Americans that she didn't even know, out of the kindness of their heart, so I thank each and every one of you for that, for all the help we received during this process.

I answered your question when I answered Jiviman's question which you are quoting.  Give more time. DHL is only accurate if your case is sent as a paper file. Go to your embassy website and search for the next step and begin going down the next road. Complete the DS160, pay your Visa interview fee, schedule and take your medical exam and collect the required documents. And if you haven't heard along the via coach contact your embassy for further details.

I don't see why it wouldn't have updated because it seems like all the other countries were shipped out at the exact same time. Kinda sucks not being able to see it. It's probably fine but can't help but worry until then.

I was unable to reproduce that link so it would work. I went back to my source and their link did not work. So what I have found is this via the embassy website https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html

If you get a P3 letter if you could share it with me I would appreciate the help.

    K1 - AOS - ROC - Naturalization.

    That's your process.
    Aos takes about a year.
    Roc takes about 1.5 year
Naturalization.. dunno, probably long time also.

Once your bride had a green card she is eligible to naturalize after 3 years (needs to complete ROC or apply during it when she's eligible).
