Funny enough I just got the text message with our casenumber. So that was me being worried for no reason as always haha.

Looks like its Potomac Service center, so I'm guessing no interview? :o

I am not sure if that what Potomac Service Center means... I would interested to know if Potomac is historically easier or quicker or not.

My greencard will expire in March and I need to make sure that I won't have any problems when I travel in April.

    Goodluck to us!

May I ask when you sent your petition out? They received my petition at 11am on thursday and nothing has happened yet. I know it was christmas and stuff, but I'm a little worried since my greencard expires next week.

Sent my packet via USPS on December 20th.
USPS tracking shows as delivered on December 22nd.

USCIS Case Tracker says that it was received on December 22nd.

Checked my bank account this morning and it showed that the check has been cashed.

Does anyone know of an easy way to get college transcripts evaluated from the Philippines? It's been a nightmare trying to get a sealed transcript from my wife's school.

I had my college transcripts evaluated by Ucredo. This is one of the places that UWF accepts course-by-course evaluation from. This was pretty painless except having to scan all my transcript's pages.

Getting the transcript from the college might vary... I requested mine as soon as I graduated so I had no problem with waiting.

  4. Oh yeah.. I just checked my WU account and tried a transaction after seeing your post and I can see the 1.99 fee. I do like WU (because I haven't tried a lot of other services) though so I might start looking for promo codes for WU now.

I found WELCOMEBACK code... gives 50% off of fee as a start.

  5. Don't worry about it. Like what my now-husband told my father, "When you know, you know!"

    We met online February 2018.

    Became boyfriend-girlfriend in March 2018.

He traveled to see me first time in June 2018. We got engaged on 2nd day of his 8-day stay.

He filed for fiancé visa in December 2018.

I immigrated to the US in July 2019.

    Got married in August 2019.

Two years later, we are still madly inlove with each other 🥰

They were concerned about my 2 prior divorces (last 9 years ago after 14 years of marriage) and the fact that she has a 4yo daughter. The counsler wants all the facts surrounding my divorces. They also concerned about why that marriage did not result in any children. Totally intursive and ridiculous.

Oh yeah.. CFO is very intrusive and there's no barrier on what they think and what they ask to catch someone off guard.

They did the same thing to me in 2019. The councilor was asking about my now-husband's divorce and how cheating and separation are always two-way street and there's always more to the story. I give her the disapproving look and told her that cheating is not circumstantial, it is behavioral. People cheat because they do and not because someone is not being a good husband/wife.

I would suggest telling your wife to get her fierce look on, be head strong and be on her game. CFOs are always concerned about Filipinas being meek and too submissive and how that behavior ends up in them being abused overseas by a foreign spouse or being taken advantage of by a different culture because of being passive--they even tell horror stories like these in the seminar. Just let her strong, decisive and smart self come out and address the concerns about the divorce and the kid situation. If CFO sense that she can handle herself in a foreign land, then they would approve the certificate.

Well in 2021 nothing has changed.😂🤣. The ustravelsocs website very clearly directs you to pick up the passports and visas at a 2GO office located in Balibago Shoppers Mart.  2GO's DAU office hasn't been there for at least 5 years or more.   It is indeed about a block past Jenra which is not at all the address ustravelsocs.com notifies you to pick it up.

Good thing it is close to Susie's so I got to reward myself with their palabok and leche flan :D

If anyone does have then sent to 2GO's DAU office note that the address they give for the pickup has not been 2GO's DAU address at least 5 years.  So you would want to go to the "new address" where they moved their office like 5 years ago, not the "old address" where they are still telling people today to go pick up their passports.

Yeah, I had a little bit of trouble picking up from 2GO office in 2019. I went to the closest 2GO office in Balibago then they told me that the visa packets are in 2GO Dau. I went to 2GO Dau near Jenra and  knocked on the door because they were already closed but I can still see people inside. They were nice enough to let me pick up my visa packet.

    Anyways, congrats! :)

  9. I was using the calculator for I-751 and N-400 and it seems like I am eligible to apply for ROC and N-400 at the same time...?

    On my greencard, it says

    Card Expires: 03/03/2022

    Resident Since: 03/03/2020

This is what I am getting from the calculator:

    ROC

N-400 (I am still married to my husband).

    image.png.35241ebbbcc57db9bef61c5a5fbe5423.png

Does this mean I can send out both applications at the same time (two separate files, of course)?

  10. I enrolled in University of West Florida after receiving my greencard. It was a requirement for admission. Here's my checklist:

    image.png.e99225f8de97f630208d59267a798e5b.png

I qualified for Financial Aid but because I only lived in the U.S. for less than a year, I qualify as temporary resident because of my marriage to a resident. After a year of living in Florida, I checked in with the university to see if I can be a reclassified as resident and here's their response:

Me (27M) and my fiancé (22F)  met on reddit April 2020 and were  on a long distance relationship talking / video calling daily  . due to covid delays, she was  able to visit last month for 2 weeks which we spent entirely together and in which we got engaged in the presence of her mother and my family . my question is , is it risky to file the i-129f after only meeting once even if we can prove that we talked daily for more than a year online and that it is a serious relationship since both our families are involved... we are not meeting again until between October/Christmas again cuz covid hit hard financially ... any help would be much appreciated

I arrived with K1 and we only met once.

We were only together for one week. CO asked about it during the interview and told him that we can't get more time off from work and that's good.

No RFE, no issues. We have a 10-year age gap.

We filed in December 2008 and got my visa in May 2009.

If you guys have genuine relationship, it should not be a problem to do the K1. Just make sure you get quality evidences along the way. It's also good that there's a second meeting scheduled for you guys so hopefully, by the time of the interview, you have two meetings within 2 months.

    Hope this helps :)

  12. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention SSA. I first applied as first name + my mother's last name + my father's last name. After getting married, I returned with a marriage certificate and had it changed to first name + my father's last name + husband's last name. This is before I applied for AOS so the only supporting document that I brought to SSA is my marriage certificate. No issues encountered for me.

  13. Hello,

I am using my first name + maiden last name (my father's last name) + husband's last name on all my documents (passport, credit cards, bank statements, EAD/AP combo card, greencard, driver's license) and no problem so far. I used the same format for my AOS as well. Just make sure to be consistent about your name use after getting married to avoid issues.

When did you receive a notice of EAD approval, and are just waiting for the card to arrive?  I recall that there was an exception due to COVID delays, depending on when EAD approval notice was received.  If your I-797 date falls outside of these, you will have to wait for the physical card.

Due to the unprecedented and extraordinary circumstances caused by COVID-19, USCIS will allow foreign nationals to temporarily use their Form I-797 Notice of Action, with a notice date on or after December 1, 2019 through August 20, 2020, informing the applicant of the approval of their I-765 Application for Employment Authorization, as evidence of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.

This is probably you are referring to.

Is it okay to work remotely here in the US for an overseas (non -US) company if i don't have a physical ead card even if my work permit is already approved?

My pay gets sent to my country.  I got here in the US on  k1 visa currently waiting for the AOS to be processed. I have been approved for work permit since december filling i1765 concurrently with i465. But haven't gotten the ead card. I followed up in march but they don't know the exact status of the ead they can only see it was approved then after 3 mos i got their email last week they said i missed the biometrics appointment in march but i wasn't notified about it at all. I just want to make sure i can work remotely for an overseas company right now since i need the job asap. Thanks for your help.

I was on the same boat. I was working for a Canadian company from home while in the Philippines and had to resign when I immigrated. I have considered doing what you were thinking--U.S. wouldn't know as my pay would be sent to the Philippines. But I didn't. It's just too risky to do it without the actual physical card on hand and given my status, I wouldn't want to risk it.

Also, I don't think my employer would want to deal with me if my integrity questionable (not being truthful about my location) or would I want to work with an employer that would tolerate lying to the government.

Anyways, I waited for my EAD to arrive before I reapplied to the same company. Benefits surpass the temporary inconvenience-- I got a new salary package in line with my new location and I have no reason to cover my tracks because of a little gap on employment and EAD.

    Hope this helps!

  16. I was physically separated from my then-fiancé for 13 months. We chatted everyday before work, texted each other a lot, called each other during our lunch break and catch up at night. It's a plus, that despite the time zone, we have the same work schedule.

Time flew faster as we were busy with other things but when I only have 2 weeks left before leaving for the U.S., it seems like I didn't have enough time to do everything that I needed to do in my home country.

So use your downtimes to settle things that you want taken care of; get bus with projects; come up with a list of to-do's. Before you know it, you're back in each other's arms again :)

My wife has been in the States with me for almost three months now, and she's learning English on the fly. She is Belgian, and her mother tongue is German.

She is a very good driver and a Belgian international DL holder, but my understanding is that her Belgian license is not valid for the long term here in Ohio. We both want her to get her American license as soon as she can, but her English is not good enough to take the exam yet. I don't believe the written exams are available in German. Has anybody had this issue, and possibly a solution?

    Thanks for any help.

    Caleb

When I took my written exam 2 years ago in Florida, I was asked for the language of the exam that I am going to be taking. I saw other people taking the exam in other languages as well... That might be an option available for your wife.

  18. This brings back memories!

My husband has been renovating the bedroom and the bathroom for my arrival. He bought new bed, got me a dresser, repainted the wall, fixed the floor, among others. He worked really hard on it and I was very impressed and flattered with the effort.

He picked me up from the airport, stopped by Whattaburger and came home to a living room with banners, "best day ever' decorations, flowers on the table. It was so adorable.

He also put pictures of me in the bedroom and it made me feel welcome and at home 🥰
