Right!!! They make everything just so frustrating, meanwhile we are here crossing fingers to be with our loves ones soon. I hope everyone hears good news soon. I am still waiting to hear from my resubmission of Sept. 21st its been 36 days already I am guessing another months and a half until I hear something.

And I came across this website https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/do-we-only-scan-the-back-of-the-document-if-there--4833568.html that says it is better to scan even the blank side to prove nothing is written or stamped there. The NVC https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-8-scan-collected-documents.html says otherwise. The NVC also says, "Please note that a translation is not required for documents in the language of the country where your visa interview will take place." But we got an RFE at the USCIS stage because we didn't submit a translated copy of the same death certificate that's causing a hold-up at the NVC stage. Go figure!

Thank you
They did not specify what was wrong with the document. All they said was INVALID DOCUMENT. It is the only kind of death certificate issued in India. It had been scanned and uploaded exactly like the other civil docs, complete with translation and translator's certificate. Except that the others had both sides scanned, this one hadn't because the back was blank. We would have been DQ'd back in Aug but for this.

Right!!! And they probably sit around wondering there’s such a backlog. 😡

Death certificate for previous spouse of the beneficiary, that's me. The back side was blank so I didn't scan it the first time around. But it's necessary, apparently.

Awh dang, I know how that must feel and I worry everyday "what if I did this wrong, what if they don't like this, etc. etc. etc". This process is definitely a strain on the mental health. I am sure you and others on here can understand how tiring it gets with people ASKING constantly "when is your husband/coming" "when are you gonna let your husband come over"....I know they absolutely mean well - but gosh I wish I could just LET him come. hehe.
Anyhow, I kind of squirreled there but am definitely wish you the best here and hopefully they will review your RFE quickly. All the best!

As far as I am aware, you can fly to the US with an approved K1.

I flew from the UK on an issued K1 in August.
At Heathrow, they were checking that everybody has the ability to enter the US before they let you check in. In my experience, this was very smooth because whilst the line for US citizens was very long, all foreign passport holders (of which there were very few) were ushered into a new line. At the end of this line is a representative from the US government who checks your visa and gives the go-ahead for check in to the airline reps.
All very smooth. It was just like flying like normal, to be honest, apart for providing evidence of a negative COVID test, which was a new experience for me.
Happy to answer any other related questions. Otherwise, best of luck to you

For sure! A few lucky ones slip through, just like at USCIS stage. There has been an 18 August submission get DQ'd but they unfortunately got a RFE.

I appreciate it can be really frustrating, we also got and RFE for missing divorce decree for petitioner, documents showing termination of previous marriages are listed as required for both beneficiary (under marriage termination documentation) and petitioner (under petitioner documents) on the state department's site, link below.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html
The civil document section for in the CEAC portal does not have the divorce termination documents as required as this does not apply to everyone who is applying for a visa.

I originally submitted everything July 15th unfortunately we got an RFE on September 20th, So our new date is September 21st. It's discouraging to see how slow NVC is working. Yet positive that this time around things will turn out better. Good Luck to all! ☺️

whiterabbitt reacted to top_secret in 2020 joint tax returns with W-7/ITIN Application - post your timelines
Something finally happened!!! Not like we received our return or anything yet, but now the "Where's My Refund?" page finally at least acknowledges there is a return filed. Under both my SS# or my wife's new ITIN it now gives the status "Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available." Instead of "no return found" like before. So while we still have no refund, it is at least acknowledging the amount, that we filed married filing jointly and both our tax #s on the same return. it seems like progress.
So to recap our timeline
May 5, 2021 Filed W-7, Federal Taxes, and California State taxes by ordinary first class mail. May 11, 2021 California State acknowledged the filing in my California FTB online account. May 22, 2021 California State showed my return as authorized and scheduled for direct deposit. May 27, 2021 California State return direct deposited into my checking account. Aug 26, 2021 Received ITIN and original document returned by IRS. Oct 21, 2021 Return acknowledged "Where's My Refund?" -

We just received a notice of action on one our cases (son of US citizen). Unfortunately, it is an RFE regarding documents required by Taiwan. They are saying Taiwan requires to birth documents (instead of the one birth certificate we sent). Anyone from Taiwan know about that?
But the good news is that they are looking at August (ours is Aug 2nd) cases now!

whiterabbitt reacted to ohiohopeful in AUGUST 2021 NVC SUBMISSIONS
The most annoying part of the RFE is that they have asked for documents that we don't have (W2 for my wife who was living in the UK at the time, and a 1099 for my sponsor, who has never had one).
So we have to upload a letter stating that we do not have a W2 or 1099... going to the back of the line just because they are asking for something we don't have. I also have checked the financial evidence pages and they should only need the transcript, which we have submitted, so this is hugely frustrating.
Seems like every step of the way the US immigration system are finding new ways to delay families being back together.

whiterabbitt reacted to ohiohopeful in AUGUST 2021 NVC SUBMISSIONS
18th August submitted to NVC, last Thursday we had an RFE, but the same as someone a few posts before.
The affadavit of support is showing as 'Accepted' now, but we've had messages to upload all 1099 Forms for spouse and sponsor - although we have already uploaded W2 etc.
I can't get through on the phone - but seems like the increased speed of some reviews might coincide with a higher number of RFE's for strange reasons like this
Really annoying, especially as we have completely lucked out with being reviewed so early

This thread might be interesting to you https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/763423-2020-joint-tax-returns-with-w-7itin-application-post-your-timelines/#comments A few comments today (see the end of the thread) are about approvals without transcripts. Your situation is a bit different but it might be a good read to see if you find anything helpful.
I think you have submitted all you can under the circumstances and it should be sufficient.

We are 100% complete on the visa process. Visas on hand and my wife and stepdaughter will arrive next week. But our 2020 tax return still to this day has not been processed. Like @JKLSemicolon the ITIN was issued in August but no movement whatsoever on processing the return. I submitted return transcripts 2018 and 2019 plus the full return for 2020 including W2's and 1099's and DQ'd with that. While waiting for NVC my 2020 Wage and Income transcript became available. I didn't use it to DQ with but uploaded it to CEAC after we got our interview date. My wife just took our return to the interview and they didn't even look at the hard copy, but they specifically mentioned facts from the return indicating the Embassy definitely reviewed what was uploaded to CEAC. While waiting for NVC I saw others time and time again get the RFE, "Please upload all 2020 W2's and 1099's" so W2's and 1099's seems like the number one most important item for NVC whether you have a transcript or not.

As an update, although we received the ITIN in August the return itself has still not been processed, meaning a transcript is still not available either.
Our situation was slightly different in that when I uploaded documents to NVC in March 2021, the 2020 tax filing deadline had not yet arrived. At that time I uploaded a 2017, 2018, and 2019 tax transcript to NVC.
Once the (August 2021) interview date had been scheduled, I did upload an updated I-864 along with a complete copy of the 2020 tax return to NVC and had my wife bring those documents to the interview. However, none of that documentation was ever reviewed or requested by NVC or the Consulate and the visa was approved with no issue.
The complete return (as @Wuozopo describes) should suffice in your case, but it might be worth drafting a short letter explaining why a transcript is not available that you could upload to NVC and/or present to the Consulate if needed. Since you filed the return in July, did you previously file an extension for 2020? That would also be helpful information to include.
Edited to add: our state return was processed and a refund issued within 2 weeks of mailing in an updated return with the ITIN. So we are just waiting on the IRS.
