I am very confused. So I was told when I bought my house that if we were to ever sell it then we’d owe more taxes as I’m an LPR and not a US Citizen.

If that is not the case then that’s great, I’ll still go ahead with the citizenship application.

I have no issues being an LPR or USC. I just wanted to know if those who have become US citizens have ever had a problem or negative experience since becoming one. I’m wanting to keep my British Citizenship as well and know that I am allowed to but has anyone experienced issues with UK Pension/taxes or other things I may not be aware of?

thanks for all the comments this far! Hopefully this clarifies my post a bit!

Keep calling up Visa Medicals for any cancellations. You have a good few weeks until your interview, some people are bound to cancel their appointments from now until then (especially with covid still around).

It worked for me and another member here on VJ, good luck!

update... I called Visa Medicals this morning (15mins on hold) and managed to get a 5th Jan slot for the medical due to a cancellation, anyone else trying to get an earlier slot I would recommend you call them as I expect cancellation slots to appear due to people having to isolate due to covid.

I’ve seen that posted but people have still been interviewed without a medical despite what that says. I don’t think they will turn you away.

as above, Today (30th Dec) I received an invite for an interview on 13th Jan 2022, in 14 days time. Called Visa Medical straight away and was told that the earliest dates they have for exams is 18th Jan, I've been put on the cancellation list. (DQ date was 8th Dec).

took me by surprise, sending it out during the holiday period, and then it being so soon, and visa medical having no slots.

I emailed the embassy via their site, and they gave a very generic reply saying you'll need to re-schedule once the interview date is passed etc. I will be attending the interview date and will see how it goes, I live in London no not much to loose.

Hello everyone! We also received our interview date this morning at around 11am, which was totally unexpected. Seems like a few of us have received January 13th interview dates this morning (addocap and another member) I managed to book my medical for the 6th January, due to someones cancellation. It was pure luck.

I thought the London embassy gave out interviews once a month, mid-month... so it's very surprising that they handed out more right at the end of December. We were expecting to hear something mid January for Feb interview. Hope it isn't a glitch of somesort!? Otherwise, extremely happy to be almost done with this process!!

The embassy Immigrant Visa unit does not take phone calls and has not for quite a few years now. Email allows them to deal with issues in order of contact and urgency. You don’t need to contact them. Plenty of people attend their interview before their medical results reach the embassy. You do not need to inform them in advance. Your visa approval will only be “paused” until the medical results arrive and are reviewed.

Also, the medical clinic typically gets your lab results back within 3 days so they can complete the medical report and transmit it digitally to the embassy. It normally takes no more than 4 days for the clinic to have your report sent if you do your part and go in with everything they need. Hopefully you prepared all that whil waiting on NVC. Check their list https://visamedicals.co.uk/united-states/

Unfortunately the timing of your interview letter comes when many businesses slow down because so many people take days off between Christmas and New Years. Also the Omicron covid variant has lots of employees infected and home isolating.

Go to your interview as scheduled and let the other pieces fall into place. Be happy that you got an interview and hope the embassy is able to stay open. These are uncertain times and being flexible is important. It will all work out.

    Hello everyone!

We just got DQ today as well, document submitted on 27 September. We had a second message with the DQ one saying that we did not meet the income requirement (which we do). We didn't quite know what to make of it (the other message explicitly states "documentarily qualified"). From browsing on the forum, we understand it to be an indication that we should bring additional documents to the interview, but we are not being sent back into the NVC queue, which is a relief.

Had my medical in London last week. Upon arrival I was called to the desk and handed over my passport, 4 passport photos, the medical questionnaire they sent to me, a photocopy of my police check, and vaccination/medical summary from my GP.

They then handed me a more detailed questionnaire which I filled out in the waiting room and returned to them. I waited for a little while in the waiting room and was then called in to see the nurse who confirmed I needed a Tetanus booster and a flu jab - they asked if I wanted to get them there today or if I would like a letter to present to my GP and have them vaccinate me, I chose the latter.

I left that room and went straight into the room where you get a chest x-ray. I was asked to remove my t shirt and they position you against the x-ray machine. I then went back to the waiting room.

A doctor then called me into their office and I sat down with them while they asked me questions about my questionnaire. I just provided honest answers and as I have never had any serious medical issues, it was fairly brief. I was then asked to strip to my underwear and sit on a bed. The doctor performed a number of routine checks; looked into my ears, felt my body in various places, listened to my chest, blood pressure, and they also took blood. They also checked my arms and legs for signs of self-harm. I have no history of this but I guess it’s standard practice. I also had to stand and read off a chart as part of an eye exam.

And that was it. I went out to the front desk and paid the fee. They gave me my passport back and explained that they would be in touch if there were any issues, but no news is good news. I asked if I needed to provide a urine sample and they said I did not as that is only required for certain age groups (I’m 33).

I had my medical in London yesterday, and I also needed a tetanus booster and proof of flu jab, as I already had it via Boots but had no paperwork. I asked if they'd do the tetanus there and they refused, saying that their nurse was down with covid and so nobody was on site to give the shot... Instead they gave me a letter to get 'signed and stamped' for both the flu jab and tetanus and an email address to send it back to.

So I went straight to the Boots on Oxford Street and booked the tetanus for the same day for £35, and the pharmacist was extremely understanding and helpful in signing off the letter Visa Medicals had given me. I then had to catch my train back and go to my local Boots and talk to the Pharmacist there who'd given me the flu jab at the weekend and have him do the same thing. Luckily both were really helpful and went out of their way to sign and stamp the letter, which I then scanned and emailed back to Visa Medicals this morning.

I had a response within the hour saying they'd received it and would have their nurse check and sign it off, or contact me directly if they needed anything else, before sending everything on to the Embassy.

Other than that everything went swimmingly, I just hope it doesn't cause any issues down the line. I've read that it's common they have K-1s have their shots elsewhere but not IR-1s so I found it a bit alarming, but I suppose they didn't have any choice.

Anyway if anyone has an appointment with them in the next couple of days keep in mind you might have to do something similar if they don't have the relevant personnel on site.

Submitted documents on the 18 and 21st. Then I submitted W2 in other documents on October 27th because of some posts on visa journey saying even if you upload your tax transcript and return you still must upload your w2.

I’m so happy. I thought my new submission date was going to be October 27th but that didn’t happen
