  1. Hello everyone!

I just went to my GC interview yesterday at the San Francisco location. Our officer was a younger gentleman and he seemed really chill and even joked with us throughout the interview. However, at the end of our interview he didn't say anything like "congratulations, you're approved" or anything along those lines. Instead, he printed off a piece of paper indicating that they are unable to complete our case at this time and that our case is being continued until a final decision can be made. We had all the documents he asked for and even provided copies for him. The only thing I can think of that might have thrown us off is when the IO asked for the dates we met and got engaged, my husband answered incorrectly (off by a day or by a year) and I had to correct him. 😑 He's just terrible with remembering his dates...

I read on other VJ threads that this letter is just a formality and that everybody gets this letter regardless of being approved or not, and some IO's just give a bit more verbal hints than others. But has anyone else experienced this?

I just checked my online status as it's been 24 hours since our interview and there hasn't been any new updates.

    I'm so worried 😢

    Hi guys!

I have my interview on Thursday (San Francisco office), do you know if they check flu shots?

I took mine in February 2020 before filing but do I need to update it know since it's flu season, I guess.

Congratulations, stasypu! That's exciting! I'll be heading to mine next Tuesday in the SF office, as well 🤗

That's a good questions in regards to flu shots, but I didn't see that specified on the letter so I'm hoping not since I haven't had mine this season yet either. lol

    Good luck on your interview!

  3. Hello everyone!

I'm so glad to see so many people getting their GCs here! Congratulations to you all, and continued well wishes to all my fellow April 2020 AOS filers who are still on their journey like me! 🤗

I finally received notice that I'm scheduled for my GC interview on October 12th and I had a question about the I-693 (Medical Examination).

I completed my medical exam in Canada in July 2019, and filed for AOS April 2020. From my understanding, despite there being a 2 year validity period of the medical exam, so long as you apply for the AOS within 1 year of the medical being performed, it is still valid and I do not need to complete a new I-693. Is this correct?

I just want to get all my ducks in a row and make sure I don't screw this up since it's been such a long, grueling process (as you all already know! 😅)

My civil surgeon who performed my medical back in Canada gave me a copy of my DS-3025 (Vaccination Documentation Worksheet) and some CDs. Should I bring these along with me for my interview?

    Thank you advance!

Thank you for your response, We have actually created an account but I thought you said you could check the status of the service request you've put in.

I've put in 2 service request and they should be showing under the case history tab on my uscis but nothing. It's just showing case was received on may 11th.

What are you going to do? Have you thought about reaching out the the ombudsman? Check out this: https://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombudsman/forms/7001 That could help since uscis never got back to you after your case inquiry.

Oh whoops! Sorry for the confusion! When you check your case status it will show your “Next Steps” and mine said “your Tier 1 referral number is not assigned for processing”, so was just wondering if anyone got a similar message too after they requested USCIS to look at their case.

I haven’t thought about reaching out to the ombudsman, didn’t know that was an option! Thanks so much for suggesting that; I’ll definitely look into it! But it sounds like many of us are stuck in the same boat here so I’m wondering if it will even really do anything 😢

    Hi,

I'm not sure where you find the website to check your request, do you mind sending the link to it?

If you put a request in, they should have gotten back to you within 30 days. I've read that they usually take way longer than 30 days to even process that..

    Hi Ally&Axel!

You can check your status online at the USCIS website:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

I would recommend signing up for an account so that you can add all your cases and check them all at once :)

And yes, it’s been over 2 months and I haven’t heard back from them lol sigh.

Hey guys - we got our NOA-1 for I-465/765 April 29th, they took the biometrics and I-485 fees, and since then we have not heard or received anything from USCIS about the biometrics appointment. The longest I've seen timeline-wise for around this filing date was a wait of about 165 business days until the appointment, placing the biometrics letter a few weeks before (around now).

Soooo.....why such the long wait? I get COVID and all but others are getting their biometric appointments scheduled even sooner than this...

    Hi Bjh,

same boat as you! I chatted with a USCIS agent online and they said they would have someone take a look at my case... that was on August 31 LOL

since then, I’ve been checking my status update online and under “Next Steps” it says:

“As of August 31, 2020, your Other - Tier 1, referral number T1SXXXXXXXXXXMSC, is currently not assigned for processing.”

does anyone here know what this means? I think everyone here shares the same frustration as there seems like there is no light at the end of this looooong dark tunnel :( Going to try and chat with them again, but not even sure if there’s a point.

  7. 25 minutes ago, GmundShoes96 said:

Sure thing! Emma is just the chat assistant on the USCIS website. If you ask for a representative on it it will redirect you to speak live with a USCIS employee. Once I got through to a real person I just asked them if my biometrics had been scheduled yet for my adjustment of status. Make sure to be very direct but also polite in how you pose questions. The officer was able to look at my case after I provided my receipt number and then confirmed that an appointment had not yet been scheduled and that I should expect an appointment within 90 days from when my ASC opened (Los Angeles, July 27).

Disappointing as that was, I figured I would just ask another question while I still had the officer on chat. So I asked if they were able to see any update on my case since RFE had been received and said it had been quite a while since it had been received by them in May with no response. The officer then said she would look into it further, as it had been so long with no update. After answering some basic questions like if I'm affiliated with the military (no), what my mailing address is and some other stuff, they said they were submitting a case inquiry and that I should expect to hear something back in the next 30 days.

Not sure if that will actually move anything along or what I should expect to hear, but I'm guessing it was probably good to draw some attention to my case and make them do something with it in the next month.

Thank you soooo much for your response!! I’ll give that a try and see if I can get anything out of an agent.

It sounds like they put reviewing applications on the back burner. Although I’m relieved that I’m not alone here, but truly hope they will get the ball rolling for everyone!

I spoke to an officer on Emma yesterday to ask about if my biometrics had been filed for an appointment yet (April 8 2020 PD) and was told they had not yet been filed. After that I asked if there was any progress on my case since I submitted an RFE that was received on May 21 for my I485 and has yet to be responded to. The officer took some more info from me and said they were submitting a service request on the case due to it being so long since the RFE was received.

My question is what I should expect to come from this? Will this prompt any action on my case or will I just be notified that they are still working on it?

I have an achingly similar situation as you do! I received an RFE in May and USCIS received it in June. I haven’t heard back from them at all since and they haven’t updated my case status since June.

Can you share how you spoke to an officer and what Emma is? Thanks so much!

    what was your RFE for?

My status is the same as yours on the 131/765 since April 7th, Case was Received.

My 485 says finger print fee was received.

nothing has changed and i dont beleive anything will until the finger print locations reopen

My RFE was kind of a redundant one. They asked me to send in a copy of my birth certificate, which was odd because I had actually sent in a few copies with my package. I figured it wasn’t clear enough for them, so enlarged it and resent it. Fingers crossed!

My 485 also says finger print fee was received. I guess we are all in the same boat! Let’s hope things move along :)

  10. Hello fellow April filers!

I did concurrent filings for I-131 and I-765 along with my AOS and received all 3 NOAs on May 1st. I then received my first RFE for my I-485 and sent in the required information which was received by USCIS on June 19th. Right now, just waiting for some news.

Dumb question: does AOS have to be approved before I-131 and I-765 can be approved? I keep checking the case statuses for these online and it hasn’t changed since May 1st which basically says they received my application and asks me to follow the instructions on the notice (nothing relevant except to verify that my info is correct).

thank you in advance and stay safe everyone!

Hello, what i did is calling the USCIS customer service, and made the clarification to them between the difference of China and HK birth certificate. They transferred me to an senior officer whom asked me to resubmitted a copy of HK birth certificate again. I also made a statement mentioned that i followed the Reciprocity Schedule (under Birth, Death, Burial Certificates). Please check https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/HongKong.html

They approved it and i got an interview date and green card afterward. Good luck.

That’s awesome! Thank you so much for the quick response :) I will give that a try!

Hi, FYI. I just checked online status regarding my case, it was changed to "Interview was scheduled". However, i am still waiting for the official interview date.

I guess they accepted my copy of original birth certificate without further notarization needed.

hi there! I just received an RFE for the exact same thing today 😭 I sent in a copy of my HK birth certificate, but perhaps the copy wasn’t a clear one...?

Just wondering if the USCIS ended up accepting your second copy of the original birth certificate and cover letter? If so, I may just do the same!

Thank you so much for posting this!

    I got both from TansUnion. 1 888 909 8872. I was on hold for 1hr 23 mins

Thanks @malajoe, I ended up calling TransUnion again today and ended up paying the $9 for the credit score and another credit report... I have a feeling the first credit report I requested never got sent out.

good luck to you on your AOS journey! We’re all in this together! 💪🏻

Omg I know it’s so frustrating!! 😣 in my case, I got the letters from Experian (each letter took about 7 days to arrive... we were checking the mailbox every day 🤣 the credit score was literally the only thing left for my application to be complete).

If you can’t wait, maybe you can check “yes” on both the credit report and credit score questions.. and make a note in the additional information sheet clarifying why you weren’t able to attach your credit score letter? Tbh, idk what they want 😂😂 but I know that having to wait to file sucks!! Especially when you can’t be sure when the letters will arrive. If you do decide to wait though, I would probably give Experian a try for the credit score. They were “fast” in my experience. Best of luck 💪🏻💪🏻 and hoping you’ll get that report in your mailbox today or as soon as possible! Keep us posted 🤗

hahaha thanks for understanding me @Flowerfame!

Yeah, this form is really driving everyone bonkers.... just ridiculous! I’m glad to hear you were able to get yours in time!

thanks for the suggestion! I’m going to try calling Experian! Do you have their phone number? I don’t have an SSN yet, and the numbers I try to call all ask for an SSN to begin 😭

    Thanks so much!!

That makes sense!! I got my credit report last week thinking that would be enough evidence (because I thought it would be a letter verifying I didn’t have one) but it turns out I do have one! My husband made me an authorized user on his credit card not that long ago but I still “inherited” his credit score.... so when we found that out we had to call again and request yet ANOTHER letter lol to get my credit score (and paid $8 for it). Needless to say I didn’t know credit report and credit score were 2 separate things. But anyway now my answers on form I-944 changed so in my case, I needed to wait and get these letters 🥴

Oh my gosh. I'm in the exact same boat as you were! Called into TransUnion (on hold for 1.5 hours), talked to a rep who unbeknownst to me, said I actually DID have a credit report for the same reason as you, and that she was going to mail it to me. Still waiting after 10 business days. I didn't realize that a credit score would not be on the credit report. In Canada we have credit bureaus that show you everything. What the heck! 😭

My I-95 expires on April 22, and I'd much prefer to file AOS before this date, even though theoretically it's okay to file after. With that said, I don't have enough time to wait for another 10+ days to receive my credit score. I'm wondering if we'd be able to get away with just a credit report.

    I guess I'll be everyone's guinea pig!

Same issue for my husband. I was originally told by our benefits people that i could not add him until he had his visa, but it was apparently incorrect info and i could have added him all along. now we have to wait until open enrollment for 2021. I asked my company to write a letter stating he qualifies to be added to my insurance during the next open enrollment period, I havent heard back yet if they are able to provide it.

    Thanks for sharing sjfoley1!

Have you heard back from your company yet regarding whether they can provide this letter?

Debating whether we should do this, as well.  I guess it's worth a shot!

So, this number has no one answering it, it's no different than just going to the website.

I did call TransUnion today for some advice. At first they did offer to send a paper letter stating that my wife does not have a SSN and therefore has no credit history here. However, it turns out she DOES have a credit score here, they are going to send me a letter with the report and score.

Oh wow! I'm on the same boat as you. I didn't apply for a SSN right away and thus am not able to pull a credit report here :(

Thanks for sharing this information, though! Looks like there just might be some hope for some of us.

Have you received her letter with the report and score already? Are you able to share how long it took?

    Thanks in advance :)

  18. Hello everyone!!

I live in Vancouver and just went to the Burnaby RCMP office to request my Police Certificate, only to be turned away because I didn’t live in Burnaby. They told me to go to the VPD to get this completed.

I then went to the VPD office off Boundary Road and was told that they don’t do “certified” criminal record checks and that whatever the website is telling me is incorrect. Confused (and sort of desperate) at this point.

I then went on to read directly off of the website saying that I require the record under the privacy act which includes the “RCMP National Repository entire Holdings” and not for the purpose of “Visa/Border Crossing”. This costed $60.

She seemed to understand what I was looking for because she took my finger prints and photo and informed me that I’d be getting the paperwork sent to me within 2 weeks.

After reading through this thread, I know some people ended up bringing other police certificates with them. But given your experiences, will the one I completed suffice?

Thank you so much in advance!
