    Prizm123 reacted to Greencard-22 in I-751 October 2021 Filers
Started this thread 2 years ago in Oct when I filed my I-751. Didn’t receive my permanent GC until after I filed my N-400 and passed the interview. Had my Oath ceremony yesterday and I’m officially done with the process. So very thankful for everyone and their advice.

Goodluck to everyone still on this journey!

My limited understanding of Ukraine and dual citizenship - If you have citizenship from another country and wish to obtain Ukrainian citizenship you must revoke the other country citizenship first.
If you already have Ukrainian citizenship and obtain citizenship of another country - there is not a law against not reporting it (Unless you are in certain levels of the government) but the citizenship of the other country wont be recognized for conducting certain types of legal transactions in Ukraine.

I am not the most knowledgeable person here, but I can tell you about the i-130 process for my wife and step-daughter who are Ukrainian and interviewed in Frankfurt. I am just not aware of any possible differences between a spouse I-130 and a parent I-130 if any.

You should only set the medical appointment after receiving the consular interview date. The visa you receive is only valid if the medical is valid, and I think it was a six month expiration date.
They will not need a translator at the embassy. The people interviewing them will speak Ukrainian and Russian.

Prior to setting an interview date for them, I reserved medical appointments in Frankfurt based on the expected interview date because the lead time for reservations was so long. Once I had an interview date, I cancelled the Frankfurt medicals because I was able to get an appointment with a Doctor in Vilnius Lithuania. The doctor himself, Richard Cervin, answered multiple emails with my questions. He confirmed no translator was needed, and translations of the vaccine records were also not needed provided they were readable. He also looked over the vaccination records because some must be taken with time intervals between them. He confirmed the remaining ones could be done the same day in his office. My point is that he was very helpful in answering questions and ensuring the medicals went without incident. His website can be found on the US Consulate page:
    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/VIL-Vilnius.html
    http://www.clinic.lt/

My first email to him was 6/2/22 and he answered the same day. I had a Frankfurt appointment date at that time. The medicals were completed and submitted electronically on June 29, 2022. Twenty-seven days from initial contact to submitted medicals. The medical appointment was for June 27th (Monday) and he recommended they stay in Vilnius until that Friday, July 1, in case there were reactions from the vaccines. I cannot recommend this doctor enough.

As for the interview in Frankfurt, they claim that no cell phones are permitted inside, but that isn't true. We left ours at the hotel, but others were allowed in with them. Our visa appointment was July 11th and we decided to rent a car and drive to the Eagle's Nest and the Bavarian Alps while we waited for the passports to be processed. On July 13th I received an email saying their passports could be picked up on July 14th.

My parents are in Ukraine,  I applied I-130 for them. Case now in NVC, interview will be in Frankfurt.
So I am trying to figure out process for preparation for interview and have some questions.
    1. Where do they need to have medical exam?  If in Frankfurt,  how long ahead before the interview they need to book it that results be ready for the interview?
    2. Would they able to get translator in embassy? They don't speak English.

we havent filed for citizenship yet either.
    been a bit distracted.
we are thinking of just waiting for this part to finish or just doing the 5 year residency citizenship application since  she will qualify for that soon enough we reckon.

Choosing Ankara without researching was a poor choice. It’s a consulate with a large backlog and even longer one for non-residents such as your spouse.

Not wanting to wait longer or getting to the US “as soon as possible” are not valid expedite reasons - that’s the wish of everyone going through the same process as you. Unless you have exceptional circumstances, and from what you described, you do not,  your best bet is to research around for consulates with a smaller backlog and ask if they will accept your case for a transfer.

A lot of beneficiary spouses are unemployed and relying on their US spouses for income, this is not something extraordinary. A lot of them are also from countries that have a much more unstable situation than Russia and have civil wars and unrest raging (Sudan, Haiti, Afghanistan, Iraq, the list goes on) but they wait just as everybody else. A lot of them do not have the privilege to live together, they’re separated for many years. I don’t see what is stopping you, the US petitioner, from waiting the process out in the US.

This is my honest, objective and realistic feedback on your situation. As I mentioned, start looking for a more strategic consulate to transfer your case to.

Thanks for the reply, Prizm.  Hope all is well with you these days.  🙂

We did my wife's N-400 online 6 months ago.  It seems (operative word) the I-751 (which we referenced in a 'cover letter' of sorts for our N-400) got subsequently yanked from the Petrified Forest... aka Vermont Service Center... and I believe (operative word) it is now paired with our N-400 and is currently collecting dust in Lee's Summit, MO.  Perhaps waiting for the local office in Boston to say they are ready for our cases??? (I ask rhetorically)

Our N-400 is 6 months old but our I-751 is technically 18 months old.

Probably the most distressing thing right now is when I run a VJ report of Bostonians in the same position as us I see people who filed an N-400 a few months BEFORE us ostensibly waiting for some movement.  So what does that tell us?

I have no idea why there is such a lack of progress in Boston.  Are the USCIS employees there too busy watching the Bruins on the big screen to adjudicate cases in a timely manner?

Last year we fell for the 'File your N-400 because it helps to speed things up' recommendation.  The truth of the matter is it hasn't done a thing.  We are now writing our Senators asking for help but I don't expect that to bring positive results.  We'll try anyway.

I personally feel they'll find Jimmy Hoffa before we ever see movement on our open cases from the USCIS.  It's so frustrating.  You do all you're asked to do in a timely manner, submit impeccable packages only to be held up by nonsense.

Best of luck to you and yours and all our hopes that your 'distractions' get reconciled soon.  🙂

at least if i went ahead and filed the N400 it would go to my local office which I do not think is that backed up. SRC is my office for ROC and I was so excited when I first filed bc they were the quickest office and now they have a 24+ month who knows when turn around time.

If your wife wants the GC under married name, just fill out the forms using the married name. The marriage certificate is
enough for the new name proof.

Regarding filing, if you file i130 online, include i130 receipt notice in the i485 package when mailing. OR mail i130/i485 all in one package. Don't forget to file for EAD/AP as well.

USCIS is a rounding error in the federal budget.

It's badly managed, but they're processing things slowly because they're bad at it, not to try and make money.

My dumb idea would be to change conditional green cards to three years, so you can skip ROC if you qualify to naturalize under the three-year rule.

Sorry, having a hard time drumming up much sympathy for you for a comment like that. Women are PEOPLE, not commodities.

Also, when you marry someone with children, it is not out of line for them to put their children before you. I knew the deal when I got married to a man who has a daughter living in another country. We put her needs always above mine. Always. I'm a grown woman who can take care of herself; children need parents. If you can't accept that, you should not date/marry a mother unless her children are adults and out of the house.

Take a break from dating/marrying/acquiring and recycling sugar babies and work on yourself. I'd give the same advice to anyone coming out of a marriage.

I mean this in all due respect, but there was zero chance this K1 was going to get approved. The fact you are comparing her to an expensive "sugar baby" while nonetheless decrying your loss of dancing/clubs/bars/'good sex' really rubs me the wrong way. Rather than viewing (and generalizing) women based on their nationality, I think you should step back and try to be the best father to the family you already have here.

Wish you the best of luck moving forward.

Waiting as patiently as we can.  We are just about at the halfway point if the processing time the USCIS has socialized for EAC is reliable.  🙂

Our beneficiaries got here tonight. Picked them up at O'Hare , just got them settled in for the night. Their flight landed at 8pm but they didn't get out of CBP clearance until nearly 3 hours later. Apparently there were a lot of other U4U folks on the same flight from Warsaw, and they were processing all of them in a group. Asked a bunch of questions, took photos, not quite sure what else took 3 hours. Anyway, the ordeal is over and they're now officially and legally in the US. Tomorrow we can start the million +1 things needed to integrate them successfully.
