Quick glance at US Embassy Afghanistan website reveals the answer:  All routine consular services, including visas and American Citizens Services (ACS) such as passport renewals and notaries, are suspended at Embassy Kabul as of March 15.  This suspension of routine services will continue until further notice.

Ok....I get the whole “refused” thing is just a name change and doesn’t mean anything, but am I the only one who thinks the word “refused” is a lot more harsh than “Administrative processing”? My heart drops every time I see the status now!!

Thank you for your insight on your husbands country. I agree with there not being a specific one. I was hoping that after all this time someone might have gathered data about cases being approved and created something. I’m just grabbing at straws at this point as I know a lot of us on this forum are.

    This sounds a bit confusing.
    1) K-1 is NOT for married couples
    2) By "we haven't met" do you mean you've lived apart for 3 years? I hope it doesn't mean you're already married and want to marry somebody else.
    3) How is it that you experience "lack of money" and yet support your wife financially?
    4) Are you a US Citizen? If so, how did you manage to become one without your spouse? If not, what are we talking about?

Our ds-260 reopened on October 24th but our CEAC status date has not changed and it still says AP.  I reached out to the embassy twice but have not gotten a reply.

Hello all! Our case is no longer in AP and our visa status is now issued.
My fiancé is based out of Kabul and I am very thankful that the AP process went by quickly. I pray for the best for everyone else! Patience is key

If their saying not too I wouldn't do it. I only updated mine because someone told me to. It doesn't effect your case if you do but I would just do what they say

Update on my husband's case. After 19 (almost 20) months after contacting my senator's office to make an inquiry we got an email requesting my husband to come in for fingerprinting and oath late next month. Thing is, its been over 19 months since he had his medical and they didn't request a new one. I already updated the DS260 few months ago on my own but they didn't directly ask me to update that either. Just said to come in for the fingerprinting etc. Is this common? Im going to ask them to specify if they need these things to be re done. But just thought I'd share with you guys

Mine doesn't even update if I send an inquiry. All I get is an automatic response via email and that's it. The case updated date still says the same. What does that mean? It seems like they don't even look into my case at all

Yes I applied January 31, 2017. However they requested a RFE from us because I only spent a week with my husband after our marriage and had to come back to the US because my semester at university was starting. So I sent them our chat logs and pictures to show it wasn’t a bonafide marriage. That lagged our case a bit which is why his interview was in May 2018.

Yeah, inshallah tonight they will give you an update. Hopefully soon you guys will be together.

Oh I see. I guess I will still see the second date change as something positive since my ceac date has never changed on its own unless we made an inquiry. I see that your interview was in late 2017, Im beginning to wonder if our AP's are already done and their just sitting on our cases making us wait for no reason 🤔

Hi everyone I would like to share my husband's visa story.
My husband was interviewed in Sept 2018 for his visa. The interview went great, CO was nice. She said she needs more time to process the case and give him 221g slip with administrative processing. Then the next day he got an email with questionnaire

6 months went by with no progess on the case. I talked with different lawyers that had experience in WOMs. I finally decided to go for a WOM after 6 months. I even payed the lawyer 50 percent of the fees to start the procedure. In between the time period I had sent a 2nd congressional inquiry in which I had not received a response for a week( isb embassy responds pretty fast to congress inquiries). So I got even more worried that they didnt even reply to the congresswoman. But literally one day after I paid the lawyer for a WOM, I got a respond from the congresswoman that the embassy replied and they are requesting for a medical. It was so weird. And btw I only paid the lawyer the WOM fees he didnt do anything on my case yet nor did he make any communication with the embassy. The embassy just decided to move my husband's case on its own. I was in shock and couldn't believe it. Exactly 2 weeks of submitting medical, my husband's visa was "issued".

So everyone, keep sending congress or senator inquiries. It helps. And for those who have been waiting for a really long time, just do a WOM. There is ntg to be afraid of if you have a valid case. Keeping you all in my prayers. Those 6 months felt like forever. I completely understand your pain.
