We had our interview on Tuesday and he asked us for it. Luckily we had a copy of it.

We received the same RFIE. We sent both documents with our first packet but the translation of the document was titled “identity Certificate” and I guess it was rejected. We got the document translated again and had them title it “Basic Certificate” here in Los Angeles. My wife had it translated in Korea before coming to the States. We guessed that is why it was rejected but not sure. If that is the case, then it is pretty ridiculous. We sent it out this morning. We’ve got our fingers crossed as well. Good luck to the both of us.

Thanks. Glad to hear that your case is progressing along as well. It is weird that our NOA1 took so long but the biometrics appointment followed fairly quickly after that. I guess there is no rhyme or reason to the process. Have a great summer as well!

I wouldn’t cancel the check yet. We sent our packet out on May 20 and it went to the Chicago lockbox on May 21. We just received the text message from USCIS on Sunday June 16. It is tough,  but hang in there.

    1. We didn't use the ETF so I can't speak to this but we paid in cash at a Citibank branch and it took almost a whole day for the payment to process. The payment needs to be processed in order to schedule the interview.

    2. The "Marriage Relation Certificate"  is only necessary if the petitioner was previously married.

    3. These documents are available at the Family Court.

    4. My fiance got her police certificate in Busan. Just double check and make sure it is the correct form. She didn't have to go all the way to Seoul.

    5. You can only do the DS-160 at this point as far as I know. Once you get the cover letter from the embassy (Packet 3), you can then pay the fee, schedule the interview and schedule the medical exam. You might be able to do the medical but the instructions say to bring a copy of the letter with you to the appointment. The letter only has the applicant's name and the case number so it might be fine as long as you have the number.

The Embassy emailed me the cover sheet too. In the letter there is a link. https://kr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/packet3-k/
The hard copy went to my fiance a few days later in the mail.  You can go ahead and start on the process that is outlined in the letter in terms of paying the fees, setting up medical and scheduling the interview. In order to schedule the interview, you have to pay the fees first. I would pay the fees immediately. It took almost a full day for our payment to be processed before we were able to set up the interview and the available appointments fill up quickly. Pinkitmake's fiance did this a lot quicker than my fiance did (congrats btw) and was able to get an earlier appointment.

I have heard that this is possible but it is best to wait some time before you get married. If you were to get married too quickly, when applying for adjustment of status, it might appear that you were fraudulent when you came into the country. Since you did in fact change your mind about potentially staying it wouldn't be fraudulent but I have heard that it is best to wait. You probably should consult an attorney.

I am not sure about the income requirements but I do have a friend that sponsored her future sister in law without any problems.

I can't help with the state police of Michoacan. We ended up going to Mexico City to get this. We went to:

Dirección General de Ejecución de Sanciones, Comisión Nacional de Seguridad
    Calzada de Tlalpan No. 2962
Col. Espartaco, Deleg. Coyoacan, C.P. 04870
    Mexico City, Mexico

The person that we met at the gate at also requested a letter from USCIS. They told us to get a letter from the US Consulate but we explained to them that no such letter would be possible. They relented and let us pass. We had to explain the situation to another person but that person also wanted the letter but again we explained our situation and that person gave us a number and had us wait. We got called to the window and explained our situation. The agent again asked us for the letter but we explained that USCIS does not issue this. She relented and we walked out with the letter after about 20-30 minutes. We are only at the NOA2 stage but we wanted to get the police clearance early. Good luck.
