dzmichellebkt reacted to yuna628 in US plans to require COVID-19 shots for foreign travelers
It's due to happen within a month or two. But I know full well instead of saying "you can't make me take an experimental vaccine" it will be "well yeah it's an FDA approved vaccine but.." because that's what anti-vaxxers have been doing for years.

When the FDA approves it, will that be good enough finally or will there be another new excuse?

Nailed. It.
The drug people are pushing now is still an experimental one, with absolutely ZERO known about its long-term side effects.
Some of us are old enough to remember thalidomide.

Just in case someone on this site has read this disinformation above. You cannot immigrate to the US with just a TB test. You will need to be current on several vaccines. Please refer to the guidance from the CDC below:

You know the vaccines that are on the required list, you can find that list on VJ itself. I'm not going to waste my time listing them for you.
There is no law in the US that states any of those vaccinations are required of the US citizen to live in the US. When it comes to entry into public/private school settings a state may require mandatory compliance, however as we know quite well there are a plethora of exemptions - and in general a parent that is entirely anti-vax will not put their children into a situation where such questions would arise to begin with. I know people precisely like this. As a result there are millions of individuals without vaccinations that are required of immigrants entering into the US on a variety of visas, and that includes some people who have never had a vaccination in their entire life to the detriment of their health and those around them.

To enter the USA on a variety of visas, immigrants are required to subject themselves to all manner of medical exams, tests, and vaccinations whether they like it or not. They are required to jump through a million hoops, bureaucracy, background checks - all without a choice. Immigrants are more vaccinated (without a choice) than US citizens. And US citizens will also have to start getting used to vaccine, testing, or quarantine requirements of other countries too. I'm fine with the requirement if that's what gets air travel moving again. Goodness knows we haven't seen our family in quite some time now.

You are afraid of the vaccine, and that is not paranoia?

Please use the PC words, lest ye find yourself in a sting behind VJ bars.
Those are simply misunderstood, misplaced immigrants who deserve better.

Probably because a spouse is a legally recognized relative, where a fiance is not.

Oh OK. That's a pretty bold statement to make about family immigrants being on welfare eventually. You do know that also, welfare is for helping people when they need it, right? It's why people like me, pay taxes. A merit system also negates anybody who could potentially become someone better by immigrating to the US. It's ridiculous and egregious to say that only highly educated, fluent English speaking, etc... Should be allowed to immigrate.

That is your opinion perhaps you are in the EB category.
Family Class immigrants have a better success rate as they have a real sponsor to guide and integrate the immigrant in US society quicker.
1st gen EB don't have that support system.

Wow you must not know much about immigration if you think they will be on welfare system. Family based visas have a huge support system and have to prove that will not be on welfare to get admitted.

Just saw that person just joined the forum on Wednesday. I am not attacking them but wow that's a big first post on a forum with lots of family immigrants.

This just shows Biden Administration, similar to the Trump administration on
immigration, prioritizes the family immigration rather than a merit
system. But different from Trump administration which is against ALL
immigrants.
You would think a rational immigration system would be a merit system,
rather than taking in all these people that will eventually be placed on the
welfare system anyway. We are the ones that will contribute to the economy
and the tax revenue the most. Instead, the immigrants with extraordinary
abilities were waiting in the line the longest and were forgotten by both
administrations. We are the middle class, but like the middle child, was
always forgotten.
This just shows both administrations prioritize their power gripping by
either taking in those people who will be on welfare and will vote for
democrats no matter what; or in republican's case, no immigrants who
probably won't vote for republicans anyway. But maybe the middle class
immigrants want to vote for democrats as well? Did Biden administration ever
think about that?
In both administration, family immigration was incentivized, rather than via
the merits. This unfortunately will lead to more illegal immigration and
fraud, because people will want to take the shortcut rather than waiting
forever via legal pathways.

Sounds like you are in AP. There is no timeline for that. It could be days or months, while they look over whatever they want. There are many people who had to provide more evidence. What kind of evidence are they asking for?
