I sent my package with a few days to spare and my package arrived late. USCIS were ok with that:

    * Sunday, January 9: Sent in i-751 using FedEx
    * Friday, Jan 14: Green Card expired
    * Friday, Jan 14: FedEx tracking says ~"Delayed, updated delivery Tuesday 18th"  (Monday being a holiday)
    * Friday, Jan 21: Delivered
    * Wednesday, Jan 26: Cheque cashed (appeared on bank statement)
    * Tuesday, February 1: Letter arrived in mail extending status for 24 months.
  2. Thanks

The credit card debate has gone on for years. It's up to each individual to decide what is best for them and how risk-averse they are. Personally, I don't think what type of card you have factors in whatsoever. There are internal factors that flag charges as potentially fraudulent and those factors aren't going magically not exist just because you pay an annual fee. After all, we're all quite happy when these systems catch charges that are actually fraudulent. But every once in a blue moon a charge could get flagged even though it is legitimate.

Personally, I think these random instances of USCIS charges being flagged as fraudulent could possibly be because the spending doesn't match the cardholder's habits. A $600+ charge is somewhat large, and if you've never purchased anything close to that amount before I could see why it could be caught as unusual activity.

We've used credit cards for all USCIS payments (K1, AOS, I-751, N-400) and never had an issue but that doesn't mean someone else won't.

Hi all - crossposting from August 2018 Filers. Congrats to those who have finished this process, and best of luck to those still wading through it. We finally got our approval and my fiance flies to New York tomorrow. Here is our complete timeline, if it's helpful to any of you still waiting. Getting an appointment at the embassy took much longer than we expected, in particular. We checked hourly for several weeks before something opened up. I couldn't find a secret WhatsApp group for Turkey, alas. 😄 Also, we worried for a whole year about the fact that I (female petitioner) am 19 years older than my partner (male beneficiary). Everyone said it was a "red flag," and it never came up ONCE, not even in the interview. Go figure.

I’m still waiting for my NOA2  we received a RFE Feb 25 and it’s been 43 days since they received it. All they needed was a certified copy of my divorce decree. I called twice since to inquire about the length of time this is taking. All I was told is I’m past the normal processing times and it could be another 5 weeks before we hear anything. My fiancé and I are bumming pretty hard right now. I see people on here already getting their visas and we’re still a long ways off.

I haven’t been on this post in a while but thought I’d jump back in to see how many have their visas now?  I just picked mine up yesterday and I’m so glad that this part is over.  Although there’s much more filings and waiting to come I’ll be able to do that with my fiancé/will be wife. Really exciting times and just wanted to thank the people in this thread for all their advice they’ve given so far as it’s helped me a bunch!

Well, as an update, Kristina flew in Saturday evening, no problems. She received passport in hand Friday, flew in the next day. The flight was rough, it was her first ever, but all in all not too bad. Lots of tears on her part, but that's normal for her anytime she gets stressed. For anyone transferring in JFK, be aware that international to national flights must go through immigration, take their bags, take a train to another terminal, turn bags back in, then go back through security. make sure your non English speaking spouses are prepped well. Also, her immigration interview was conducted in English, even though she doesn't really speak it, but she made it through. They basically just asked her why she was here. She stated "to marry  Justin" while shaking and nervous, then they laughed, told her to calm down she was fine, then stamped her passport and she was on her way. Before the interview, they asked why she didn't speak English and she said "because I was stupid in school and I didn't pay attention enough" and they all laughed and the officer said "I appreciate your honesty".

On another note, she arrived here raving about how amazing her travel through JFK was, stating "never in my life have I seen so many happy people everywhere, everyone in America is so happy. When I cried, 2 different grandma's came to me, one bought me water, I tried to pay her but she wouldn't take the money. everywhere I went everyone helped me so much without even asking. America is not like Ukraine, it's not like Europe, people here, they are nice, they help, they are happy to help you".  I'll let that reflect onto everyone here, because even though she really didn't know it, even before leaving she had already received help from dozens of Americans that she didn't even know, out of the kindness of their heart, so I thank each and every one of you for that, for all the help we received during this process.

What a touching and heartfelt story, it even made me cry!  I will forward to by fiancee, as she is very similar.
I am a native New Yorker, but have always found New Yorkers to be the best when it comes to strangers, whether at JFK or in the City.
And that certainly extends to the Immigration and Customs folks at JFK, who I have always found to be nicest and friendliest in the entire USA.

Thank you for sharing her experience. I hope America doesn't loose it's ability to help the troubled, less fortunate, those who are down on their luck and those who need lifting up. We have always been a nation conceived in the notion that we help others. Whether its a glass of water for those who are thirsty or a shoulder to weep on when we are facing tough times. I wish you guys nothing but the best that this world can offer.

She's got all her documents perfect to the T. the only "off" thing is her last name being transliterated different on her passport by one letter, which of course has us worried, but we've been assured by people that it's no big deal and they'll just correct it at the Embassy if they need to, so we're waiting to find out if that's correct. Everything else should be smooth, interview should be a breeze for her. I think she knows me better than I do, so there shouldn't be anything that stumps her.

Our latest update, in case it's helpful to anyone: NVC assigned our case # on 18 March, so I assumed we wouldn't go out in the 19 March shipment and would be going out 2 April. Then on 26 March we got an email from NVC saying that our petition was being sent to the embassy in Turkey (though CEAC status was still "at NVC"). On 28 March we got an email from the embassy saying they had received it and referring us to the generic K-1 website for instructions. So basically, no formal P3 letter (so odd!). Here is the specific wording from the email:

Please click on https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/ for "Instructions for K1 Visa applicants". A separate paper instruction packet will not be sent.
